Magnificent! Jennifer's kitchen is very well stocked, all you need to bring is refrigerated stuff and beverages. Downstairs bed is dreamy! Anything you need, just message Jennifer and she will respond quickly. Excellent WiFi, no cellular service.
We highly enjoyed our stay at Jennifer’s house in the Black Hills. Check in was very easy, even at night we found the place without any trouble. It is far from any town, which was fine with us…we were happy to get away from things and see the stars at night. My kids enjoyed riding the bikes down the driveway to see some horses, and they loved sleeping in the loft. The place is very well-stocked with anything you could possibly need. The welcome basket was much appreciated :) For anyone looking to get away, though still right off a major road and close enough to some beautiful sights, I would highly recommend Jennifer’s house.
The property was beautiful. The hostess was incredible and was very attentive addressing all of our needs. Thew location was perfect for our daily trips to Black Hills National Forest, Custer State Park, Jewel and Wind caves, and Devils Tower. The home was fully stocked to allow easy meal prep, had comfortable beds, and the host family thought of all of the needs. Sitting on the deck at night was amazing star gazing as well as the occasional wildlife visitor. I cannot recommend this home enough as we look forward to visiting this site again,
My sons and I love to take a trip north to South Dakota every summer. This year we wanted to visit Devils Tower and decided to check out the western entrance to Spearfish Canyon. What an excellent decision! This home away from home is well stocked, very clean and comfortable enough to feel like visiting a family house. Close enough to everything that we wanted to see, quite enough, uncomfortable enough to get good rest and a well stocked kitchen to make food that we love. We had a wonderful stay!
Jennifer's cabin is a perfect place for a quiet getaway, and a great location for day trips to all the destinations in the Black Hills. Her cabin is cozy and homey, has plenty of space for two people or a whole family, and has everything you would possibly need to cook meals (full kitchen), grill out, put together picnic lunches for exploring. There is a regular coffee pot and a Keurig, coffee and tea in the cabinet, spices. Jennifer has thought of everything! We drove to Spearfish Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Custer State Park (twice), Deadwood/Lead. Jennifer is an excellent host, very quick to respond after we booked the cabin, very friendly and helpful, and thoughtful. We're already making plans for another trip to the area and will look at booking Jennifer's cabin first!
We had a great stay, home was very welcoming and lots of space for our family. Location was great for our adventures. Jenny was super friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Would definitely recommend.
This was the perfect getaway location for our family. We wanted something comfortable and away from light pollution so that we could do some stargazing and astrophotography. The cabin was close enough for us to see the sights in the area, though we opted to stay in for the majority of our trip.
We enjoyed our time here. It was a short escape from everyday life. We visited Hill City, Deadwood & Custer so it was central to those locations. Even though the highway is nearby, it was still very quiet and relaxing.
The cabin was exactly as described and worked very well for our group. It was close to the trails and the rest of the sites of the Black Hills bit far enough away to be so very peaceful.
Excellent communication from the start. The check in process couldn’t have been any easier. I travel to the black hills area multiple times a year with my Weimaraner (now 2 weims). Even my girls seemed at ease. Traveling with dogs can be very difficult. It was nice to be able to settle in so effortlessly. Every time we would leave to go hike some trails and come back, they both acted like they do at home! The house is located in a great spot to be far enough from over crowded tourist areas but close enough if you want to go to those areas without too long of a trip. I appreciate the gas grill being located on the porch next to the kitchen as opposed to being on the porch on the front of the house where you sit. Everything was intuitively located to make it easy to cook and clean up. The detachable spray head faucet on the kitchen sink makes it easy to clean up after cooking. Normally where I stay is more of a pit stop between enjoying the black hills and calling it a day. Staying here was more like coming home.
This house was the perfect location for exploring a variety of destinations. We went to Devils Tower, Black Hills, Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park (the cave was closed, though, for elevator repairs and has been closed since August 2).
The house was very private, which we like, and a very nice property. So quiet day and night and the stars were great.
Our family of four & two dogs stayed at this cabin for 10 days; it was so relaxing and comfortable! It is situated just right outside the western edge of the Black Hills...gorgeous landscape all around. It is close to many attractions if you want to venture out, as well. The property manager, Jenny, was just as sweet as could be...just a gem. The home was well kept and the kitchen was stocked with everything you could need. If returning to this area, we will stay at this cabin again!

Beautiful cabin, very relaxing, felt like home away from home and Jenny was wonderful
Wonderful experience, can’t wait to go back. Jenny was awesome, cabin was beautiful and had all the amenities you could ask for and more. Jenny thinks of everything you my need on your stay. We rode snowmobiles and it was close to the trails, came back to the cabin and cooked meals, was able to do laundry and the kids enjoyed games or watching tv, plenty of room for everyone to have space. So beautiful and clean and felt like home away from home. Thanks Jenny!
We had the best time at your home. We are VRBO owners and your place had everything and then some. We owe you some Krusteez and syrup. :-)
The location is perfect for trips to Devil's Tower, Sturgis, Deadwood, Spearfish, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and of course, Needles Highway.
Truly appreciate the hospitality.
Cheers,
Philip
Our 1st stay was a long weekend in July which was a quick trip but we found that the house worked perfect for us. We were able to spend a day at Custer State Park and enjoy the evening back at the house. Great trails in the nearby state park areas.
We came back in October and spent a little over a week enjoying the fall color changes, seeing the wildlife in the area and it is close enough to make a day trip to Mount Rushmore and Badlands. The house had plenty of room for our family of 3 plus some. It has a fully stocked kitchen and propane grill so we had many meals at the house. It was amazing to enjoy your coffee on the porch and see the mule deer and turkeys right in the yard! The host Jenny is very responsive and makes sure everything is provided. We have loved our Wyoming trips!
Five of us, three adults and two teenagers, stayed six full days in this home a way from home. The three bedroom home was a perfect size for us and had everything you could possibly need.
We used this as our base camp, making different itineraries for each area of the Black Hills we planned to visit. We in joyed our travels to and from each day, the scenery is GORGEOUS!
We panned for gold, even found a few flakes, hiked mountain trails and saw a herd of Elk, down a back road, very close to our rental home.
Had a great time, from the wildlife loop in Custer, gambling on the Craps table in Deadwood, tree top rope course / zip line in Keystone, 1880 train from Hill City and of course Crazy Horse / Mount Rushmore.
Don’t forget Rapid City, the Journey Museum is FANTASTIC!!! Fort Hayes, Hwy 16 Rapid City, has the Buffalo Hunt ride, the kids loved it. Also the original building form Dances With Wolves movie set is there, very interesting.
Wished we had another week in our Black Hills Retreat home away from home!
The Orloske’s
This was our first trip to WY and it was the perfect location for what we were wanting. We could sit on the porch and watch wildlife (turkeys and deer) and we were near the national forest, Devils Tower & Custer State Park which were places we wanted to go. Jenny was quick to respond and had everything ready early for us. There is room to have several people staying. Plenty of extra blankets were available, lots of towels/wash clothes and even some toiletries were available. We are looking forward to coming back again!

Why they chose this property
This property is located right in the Black Hills and is close to lots of vacation sites. It has easy access right off US Highway 85 N. Lots of good concerts come to Deadwood, SD and it's only 30 minutes away. Many hiking and ATV trails are close by, great hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, and much much more to be entertained with. Otherwise sit back and enjoy the beauty of the pines on the wrap around deck that the house offers.
