About this property

The Ranch House at Sky Hawk Ridge, a 185-Acre Refuge, ONE MILE to Buffalo River

ESCAPE THE CROWDS to the Great Outdoors!

Sky Hawk Ridge is place of extraordinary beauty, a 185-acre natural refuge at the gateway to Buffalo River National Park. This spacious vacation home is sited on a high ridge bordering the park, with acres of lawn and groves of stately trees all around. Wide front and back porches afford gorgeous sunrise and sunset views. There’s a small pond in front.

THE LAND

When you stay at Sky Hawk Ridge, you won't stay inside for long. Roam the land and discover the wonders of this beautiful landscape. Enjoy misty morning walks through dew-covered fields. When you walk along Sky Hawk's long ridge, you see layered green hillsides and distant blue ridge lines across the Buffalo River Valley, rolling meadows with sentinel oaks, cattle grazing in lush pastures, deep green woods -- nature's beauty at every turn.
Explore miles of private trails that wind through dense forests and beside crystal streams. Wildlife is everywhere -- deer, turkey, fox, owls, songbirds, and all sorts of woodland creatures. Be dazzled by spring flowers, blue summer skies, rich fall colors, or foggy winter mornings. Sky Hawk Ridge is a nature-lover's paradise all year long.

LOCATION

Sky Hawk is just off US 65 on the north side of the Buffalo River. Restaurants, canoe rentals and river access points at Grinders Ferry, Gilbert and Tyler Bend are less than ten minutes away, but at Sky Hawk you’re secluded and surrounded by natural beauty -- away from it all.

The entrance is on the Gilbert Road (Hwy. 333), just 0.4 mile east of US 65. This cabin is at the end of the road, about 3/4 mile from the entry.

The Sky Hawk property has 3/4 mile of park frontage, and the Buffalo River Trail is just steps from the property corner. The park trail leads a mile or so downhill to a long, wide gravel bar at Shine Eye Bluff -- the perfect spot to picnic, swim, fish or enjoy a lazy afternoon. (Shine Eye is also accessible by road, a five-minute drive.)

ACCOMMODATIONS

Built in 2008, the “Ranch House” has a relaxed, western vibe. Cowhide rugs, western and wildlife art, rustic wood finishes, and stained concrete floors set a laid-back tone. With over 1500 square feet of living area, the home is spacious, warm, and inviting, the perfect gathering place for family and friends. There’s a large, vaulted great room with seating for eight, a long dining table, and four barstools around a central kitchen island. Flanking the great room are two roomy bedroom suites, each with its own bath.

The house is equipped with a washer and dryer, full-size appliances (but no dishwasher), cooking utensils and dishes, central heat and air conditioning, ceiling fans, and a small gas fireplace in the living room for extra warmth on cold nights. It is meticulously maintained and sparkling clean.

There are three other vacation homes at Sky Hawk Ridge. Refer to VRBO listings 2844541, 1468267 and 3613801 for more information. Houses are 500-1,200 feet apart, allowing plenty of separation for everyone's privacy. The land is for all to enjoy, so feel free to discover what lies around the bend.

Sky Hawk Ridge has the finest vacation homes anywhere near the Buffalo River. It's at the center of everything but peaceful and secluded. 185 acres of natural beauty are yours to explore. You will love this place! Book your vacation today.

A little slice of heaven
This place did not disappoint. Close to the Buffalo River, immaculate, and an idyllic location. There are several homes on the property, but it still felt like we had the place to ourselves. Very peaceful and a great place to unplug. There are several trails to explore as well. Everyone had a great time and we will be back!

After Christmas Break
We had a wonderful time here! Very peaceful. We enjoyed many hikes, both on and off the property, and beautiful views of the river. Hope to come back and visit in the Summer. We brought our dog and he loved being able to run freely! He doesn’t get to do that at home in the city. Will most certainly revisit.

Fall Break Family Trip
We wanted to explore the Buffalo River and surrounding area with our teenage daughters. The cabin was a very convenient location if you want to float the Buffalo River. It was a 7 minute drive to the outfitter we got our kayak rental from. We also had a great time exploring the hiking trails on the property with our girls and our dog. The views from the back porch swing were amazing and we had some fun family horseshoe games throughout our stay.

Quiet and Relaxing
Property is exactly as described. Hosts provided everything you would need to enjoy your stay. House was exceptionally clean and the property was well maintained. Do your research on the near by trails if you plan on bringing your four legged kids, some of the trails did not allow dogs. Regardless would stay again, just because of the house and how quiet the surrounding area is. Thanks
