About this property
High Country near Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway
Enjoy the beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Deep Gap, NC. Our cabin is just outside of Boone NC off the Blue Ridge Parkway just before Hwy 421 passes under the the Blue Ridge Parkway (mile marker 277) at an altitude of 3400 feet near Stoney Fork Overview.
We are perched at the Eastern Continental Divide looking southwest. Winding down the last 1.8 miles among majestic trees and mountain views will start to reset your 'busy life' mindset. A gentle climb, that only requires 4-wheel drive in heavy snowfalls in the winter, delivers you to a most unassuming paradise at the end of Frog Hollar road. The cabin is nestled on 1.5 acres and gives way to miles of spectacular view. You will be inspired by a feeling of peace and solitude that will not be disturbed by any visible neighboring cabins or homes from any of the four cabin decks.
This is a very warm and inviting traditional cedar log cabin with views from each of the four decks and nearly every window! The main level has the master bedroom, recently renovated kitchen, and living room with cozy gas log fireplace, inviting furniture and deck that overlooks the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The third bedroom is in the loft area, and has its own private deck. The lower level has a family room with sofa and a bedroom with two single pine-pole beds and full bath.
A six-person hot tub provides great relaxation after a strenuous hike, skiing day, or just for fun. A fire pit also makes for the mountainy feel of camping under the stars. (Always remember to completely extinguish any campfires)
The cardinals and hummingbirds love hanging out at our cabin, and are entertaining to watch while enjoying morning coffee. Watch the sunset, or an approaching thunderstorm, with an evening cocktail around the comfortable dinette or in one of two oversized rockers. The deer and turkeys like to frolic about, too! There is plenty of hiking in the area including some interesting trails off of the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Take your camera and a small bag to collect wild blackberries and blueberries.
While the cabin is very secluded and quiet, it is only minutes to lots of activities should you decide to leave the beauty and serenity of the cabin. With a 40Amp EV charger, The cabin is a short ride for electric or gas powered cars into Boone (sporting a college vibe), Blowing Rock (retirement village feel), West Jefferson (Southern artisan feel) as well as many smaller quaint communities.
This is a unique property for people who value quiet time, great views and bonding with nature. The cabin is about 20 minutes to Boone (via hwy 421), Blowing Rock (via the BR Parkway), or West Jefferson (vis hwy 221), and a stone's throw to the beautiful and scenic Blue Ridge Parkway.
Note: on weekdays it is not unusual for 2 to 4 military jets to fly by as we must be in a 'training corridor'. This last for about 5-6 seconds and is pretty awesome to see but also can be loud. We have never seen this on the weekends or in the evenings or night time.
The cabin is complete with every amenity including fiber Internet access that lets you stay in touch and find the latest mountain entertainment. Play Station II is also available should you need a session of 'Guitar Hero', or Kareoke American Idol' to complete a great day. A piano keyboard is also available for mountain musicians. Enjoy your own music on the bluetooth enable soundbar on the main floor or 'cast' the pictures you took that day on the TV downstairs using the google chromecast.
(Fiber internet arrived in February 2024).
