About this property

Mid 18th century country house for 7 guests. It is a very romantic place, wonderfully restored with organic materials and kept in the original style of the area, even the antic Pizza Oven has been restored. A lovely garden set in the hills on the border of Tuscany and Umbria is ideal for families or small groups. Tastefully decorated & furnished with antiques from the owner's family. The 250-year-old house sits on a slope and has stunning views and light breezes in hot summers. It is surrounded by old oak trees giving shade and has a double air-filtered roof. You will find a solar-heated pool, which is open from April to October, situated in a little olive grove, with natural shade and stunning views. The panorama pool is completely private. The owner is a German Countess, she produces olive oil and manages the property. On the grounds around the antic house, you can enjoy the breathtaking views over the superb Umbrian/ Tuscan countryside, eat figs and lots of fruits directly from the trees. The exceptional location will give you enough opportunities to relax & dream and sightseeing. Next town is the medieval city Città della Pieve (15min by car) with excellent restaurants and beautiful Monteleone di Orvieto (10 min by car) Perugia (40min. by car.)

A Beautiful Place to Relax

We had a super nice holiday at this villa. The house is lovely. The kitchen had everything that we needed. There were plenty of towels and extra towels for at the pool. The covered dining area was a perfect place for family meals. We especially enjoyed the peace and quiet of the countryside and the beautiful setting of the villa.

Our once-in-a-lifetime stay

Villa Cerqualto was incredible. From driving up the scenic roads with immaculate views, to lounging by the refreshing pool, to watching the sunset with a glass of local wine, everything about our trip was idyllic. The villa itself is an authentic restoration that feels both historic and comfortable, designed and crafted with care in each and every room and in the beautiful surrounding gardens. The host, Stephanie, made all the difference in our trip — she was accommodating, welcoming, communicative, responsive, and deeply knowledgeable about the wonderful community in the surrounding area. Stephanie helped us arrange beautiful meals with a private chef as well as recommended fabulous restaurants that we so enjoyed. Our family hopes to one day return to Villa Cerqualto and continue to soak up every bit of joy, adventure, and relaxation that this oasis has to offer. We can’t recommend it enough.

Sjarmerende villa

Vi hadde et veldig hyggelig opphold. Huset er koselig og har en ok beliggenhet. Utsikten er ok - man ser mest skog. Mulig at utsikten er bedre fra den delen av hagen som kun er forbeholdt eieren. På noen av bildene (og spesielt videoen) ser man en del av hus og hage som ikke er tilgjengelig for leietakerne. Synes derfor at annonsen er noe misvisende. Eieren bor i den nedre delen av huset, og det er kun den øvre delen av hagen pluss bassenget som er tilgjengelig for leietakerne. Hagen er noe ustelt og overgrodd. Ingen behagelige stoler til å bruke ute på veranda eller ved bassenget, men solsengene var ok. Fint basseng med plasser for sol og skygge. Eier av huset bruker bassenget av og til. Helt ny grill som var super. Litt dårlig kvalitet på kniver. Ellers var kjøkkenet bra utstyrt. Pluss for at det var såper, sjampo og kremer på alle bad. Det var også sukker, salt og noe krydder, kaffe og te tilgjengelig. Ikke behov for å kjøpe med seg toalettpapir. Hyggelig at vi fikk et par flasker både vin og vann gratis. Vi var der i en periode med høye temperaturer ute. Savnet air condition til tross for at det fungerte ganske ok på natten hvis man husket å åpne vinduer ved 20-tiden og lukke dem igjen før kl 0700 om morgenen.

Spring vacation

After a couple of days in crowded Rome the villa felt like peaceful heaven. The surrounding lush garden, nature, landscape and view were amazing. We found the interior of the house nice and relaxing. It was cosy to have a fireplace in the kitchen during evenings. The pool area was was very beautifully surrounded by various plants. Special thanks to the friendly owner Stephanie who was always available for our questions and even helped us with the table reservation to a local restaurant (Bar Seven which we can recommend without any doubt). We also made walks in the olive grove and were able to taste the hand made olive oil (excellent). Stephanie, thank you very much for your hospitality, hope to see you soon again!

I arrived in Italy 1999 and bought an old farmhouse ( ruin) and created a home for me and a lovely place to rent out to nature and historical sights lovers.
Umbria is very authentic and I love living here.

Why they chose this property

The house is very privately set, but close to the A1 Autostrada di Sole. You can reach the property easily from Rome and Florence. The train station is 10 min. away from the Estate. On the properties 8 ha land is a beautiful olive grove and many fruit trees. In the large garden is surrounded by very big old oak trees and has lovely views.
Visit Rome and Florence for a day trip. Also Bologna and Napoli are to be reached with the fast train in a few hours.
Montepulciano, Cortona, Arezzo`s with its marvellous antic market, Orvieto with its breathtaking views and underground tours is very close, cosy Città della Pieve great bars and sightseeing is just around the corner, Perugia`s Jazz Festival is worth a visit, Todi, Spoleto and the airport Perugia are 45 min. by car.

What makes this property unique

Solar heated pool, summer pool cover, bath room, shower, shady seating area, deckchairs, the swimming pool is surrounded by a fence.
The house has an air ventilated roof that is like a natural air-condition. By restoring an old farm house the character of the buildings in the 18th century has been maintained and the typical Umbrian details have been carefully restored, only ecological materials were used in the restoration. The garden has wonderful big old trees and special plants.
The three floor house has breathtaking views from a top floor terrace, many windows and the terrace in front of the kitchen.
Top floor: 2 double bedrooms, 1 large bathroom with bathtub.
Middle floor: sitting room with TV and fireplace. 1 bathroom with large shower. Kitchen with iron wood stove, gas stove, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer, 3 different coffee maker, all very well equipped. Little staircase to the pergola in the garden with BBQ workspace and basin.
Ground floor: 1 double bedroom, 1 single bedroom, 1 bathroom, direct exit to the garden.
