About this property

Stockbridge Village in Summer

This 1900 farmhouse in the village of Stockbridge offers all the convenience of walking to restaurants, shops, the Red Lion Inn, the public tennis
court, while providing a sense of privacy and serenity from its backyard views to the Berkshire Hills across flower-filled mature plantings. It is easy walking distance to the Berkshire Theater Festival, the Red Lion Inn, and only short drive to Tanglewood, the Norman Rockwell Museum, and the the Berkshire Botanical Garden. Walk down
the sloping lawn to the banks of the Housatonic and listen to the breeze in the trees while taking in the scent of mountain air. When the weather's fair, sit out on the terrace with friends for dinner and watch the stars.
The kitchen has all new appliances, fully supplied for the ambitious chef.

Cozy up in the living room or enjoy playing the baby grand Yamaha piano.
One bedroom offers a full canopy bed, and the larger bedroom has 2 twin beds. It's blissfully quiet at night.
[Folks, this is Main Street and there is traffic sound in the daytime, but the vast majority of guests have found it very livable.]

The small upstairs sitting room has cable TV but you might prefer to just read a book or write at the window with a sweeping view to the hills over the treetops. There are two full bathrooms, one on each floor.

We welcome you to enjoy the farmhouse for a memorable stay with your friends or family.

Pleasant in town property

A pleasant house with an easy walk into town. Good base for the great variety of cultural events in Stockbridge and Lennox. Near to several hikes.

Great House and Host!

We were looking for a “home base” for rest and relaxation and in close proximity to the Appalachian Trail for some day hiking. Claudia’s place did not disappoint! The house is comfortably appointed, super quaint, and perfectly situated for local activities and dining options. The town of Stockbridge is a quick walk away and offers a wonderful bakery, the Red Lion Inn, and a few shops. Very magical. Claudia was very responsive and ensured we had all we needed for a terrific and private get-away. We really had a wonderful time and look forward to returning in summer or fall!

The Second Time Around

This was the second time staying at Claudia's house on Main St. and it was as wonderful as we remembered it. It had all the amenities we needed and the proximity to the center of Stockbridge, and hiking trails, is very convenient. The fact that there is some traffic on Main St. for a couple of hours during the day was not an issue, and is more than compensated by the convenient location and the charming house and grounds. Claudia, as always, was very responsive to any questions that we had. Looking forward to our visit next year.

Great stay!

This house had everything we needed for a weeks skiing. We loved coming home to cozy house which was perfectly situated to Butternut where we skied. We even found a place for our dog during the day Camp Wagalot right up the road! Claudia was very helpful with everything and the location in Stockbridge was great. Was on a Main road but that didn’t bother us. Enjoy!

Great stay !!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. The house was immaculate and clean when we entered and everything was in perfect order. It was a good size for a family of 3 and my son appreciated being so close to a great playground. We also enjoyed just walking over for a hike up laurel hill. The location is excellent if you would like to simply walk to the town of Stockbridge. We also used this as a base for short drives to jimney peak and butternut for family ski day. Thank you again for a wonderful stay and we hope to be back again soon!! Best Desiree

This is a great home within walking distance of the interesting town of Stockbridge. The place is well equipped and has a charm consistent of what you can expect for a historic farm house. We would stay here again.

Charming Stockbridge Home

We spent about one week in this charming home in a very convenient location within walking distance of the Red Lion Inn and central Stockbridge. We cooked most of our meals in the kitchen equipped with modern appliances, and a lovely view of the backyard and the hills beyond. And we ate our meals in the comfortable dining room. Behind the house is a patio and a backyard leading to a lawn that is just a short stroll down to the river. Because the house is located in a very convenient section on Main St., there is car traffic that can be heard during the morning rush hour from a couple of the rooms. The rest of the day, the evening, and night, the house is very quiet. Something that would have been nice is outdoor lighting in the backyard for sitting outside in the evening. Claudia was always available and responded quickly to any questions we had. In short, we had a great experience in her home and would definitely book again in the future

A beautiful old home within walking distance to hikes and shops

Claudia's home was clearly a historic gem, full of interesting old antiques but also quite functional. My friend and I were able to cook dinners in the kitchen, do work at the dining table, and watch TV in the evenings, and even do laundry. We were also happy it was so close to a couple of short hikes, as well as the "downtown strip" of Stockbridge. Only thing I will mention is that Main Street is a busy through-way so there was considerable traffic noise. Someone unfamiliar with the area would not necessarily know this.

Perfect location

Claudia was such a responsive and accommodating host. Three cheers! Her sweet home has a glorious back yard leading down to the river with lovely wild and cultivated gardens along the way, all in view from the charming backyard patio. Her home is a good size for two vacationers though wish there were more comfortable seating with good lighting to read. Everything in the house works, which is always nice. The kitchen is up to date and the decor is quite nice and in keeping with the house. The art throughout the house is very interesting. Many paintings were done by family members. Everything we needed was 5- 20 minutes away. We joined the S. Berkshire community center (10min) for a month to swim, we hiked Monument Mountain, the Kennedy trails and Ice Glen, among other walks. We walked (10 min) to dine on the front porch of the Red Lion Inn, had another two dinners under umbrellas on the street at Brava in Lenox (17 min), grabbed take-out from Starving Artists cafe in Lee (10 min) and shopped at Guidos and the Food Co-op in Gr. Barrington. We even had our dog beautifully groomed at Hair of the Dog in Lee (7 min) and his ear infection treated at ValleyVet (8 min). Nejaime’s, a wine, spirits and gourmet goodies shop, is a short walk away, too. We were lucky to be able to get away to the Berkshires during this challenging time and to feel relatively safer for a couple of weeks. Everyone took great care to wear masks, stay socially distant and offer hand sanitizers. We were actually happy to get the required Covid tests before our arrival In Massachusetts. It was a welcome respite. Thanks, Claudia.

We enjoyed the property especially the piano and backyard.

Claudia is quick to respond to any needs. Property is lovely. The only issue I had which is probably just a personal preference. We would have liked a room for all of us to sit on a big sofa and watch a movie.

Relaxing Berkshires Getaway

My wife and I spent a very enjoyable week at Claudia's house in Stockbridge. We cooked almost every day in the small but modernized kitchen and worked comfortably from the home every day. The town of Stockbridge is right down the street, along with basketball court, tennis courts, and a playground literally minutes walking. The back garden patio is amazing. We ate outside there every night and sat until darkness watching dozens of fireflies. It was quite magical. I also played the piano quite a bit. I'm an amateur, but it is easily the best sounding piano I've ever played. Definitely a perk for musicians! A few small notes that would make this even more of a fantastic stay: - The upstairs full bed is quite loud and rickety, and the windows are not really shaded. Also that mattress is very stiff (which we actually don't mind). Sensitive sleepers might want to bring a mask (or sleep in the twin bed room as we ended up doing). - There is actually quite a bit of traffic noise from the road the house is on, especially during rush hours. It was fine, and you don't really hear it in the back yard, but don't expect total seclusion. - The garden patio is one of the absolutely highlights of the house, but there are no lights out there. Would be great to string some up!

five stars

I enjoyed my stay. The house is lovely and conveniently located. A short walk to the center of Stockbridge and short drive to Lee, Lenox and other nearby towns. Tanglewood is only minutes away by car. The lawn behind the house runs down to the river and is as beautiful as advertised. There's a Lovely spot to sit out back and admire the view, and the glassed-in front porch is a pleasant place to eat breakfast. While there is considerable traffic on Main Street, I did not find it to be a distraction. The house has central air conditioning, but the cool nights made its use unnecessary. Claudia, the owner, is friendly and helpful.

Perfect for us!

This was our first HomeAway rental. The owner was remarkable in her communication. The residence was perfect for us (two couples with children at Tanglewood) The home was warm, welcoming and comfortable. The upstairs bedrooms were roomy enough for us and the beds were fantastic. The kitchen was very well equipped. The dining room was lovely. The entire house was decorated beautifully. The front porch became our "gathering and eating" area immediately. It was great in the summer, but would also serve skiers quite well. It was great to be able to walk into Stockbridge! And the grounds were manicured all the way to the river. If we are lucky enough to return to this area, we will definitely seek out this property as out absolute first choice!

Quaint NE cottage. Easy walk to village on sidewalk. Short drive to surrounding sites

Lovely yard and AC was welcome on the one day it hit 90. A bit of traffic noise even before high season but not a deal breaker.

The gentle landscape, mountain air and vibrant colors of the Berkshire Hills wooed me from my first visit in 1978.
Gardening, playing piano, entertaining, spending time with friends old and new, listening to RadioLab, these are a few of my favorite things.
