An amazing property, everything we needed, an ideal base to explore from but a car is recommended.

Kids (and grown ups) loved the pool and the outside spaces. We chilled in the peace and quiet and felt very safe. Raquel and her family were brilliant hosts, Raquel was always at hand if needed with suggestions for parking in Santiago and where to eat, etc. The fact that our lack of speaking Spanish wasn't a problem thanks to Raquel (and Google translater). The local town (although a little drive) Pedrouzo has everything you need in a couple of supermarkets and plenty of places to eat, there are a couple of restaurants more locally and of course a larger supermarket just outside Santiago De Compostela. We loved our stay!!!

Wonderful stay

This is a nice cottage and the garden is beautiful. Nice to have such e beautiful outside space on your holiday. Recomanded for barbecues!The host are very friendly we received French cherries nearly every day from the garden. Don't forget to tell them when you need to leave very early cause the gate closes over night. Which is very good but we forgot and had to wake up this lovely family .

Recomendaremos la casa pues es espléndida, apropiada para el descanso y con todas las comodidades, además de estar en una zona perfecta para ver Galicia y en un paisaje maravilloso. Han sido unas vacaciones estupendas, donde el tiempo aguantó más o menos bueno hasta un día antes de irnos, pero como contábamos con ello, nos pareció hasta divertido. Muchas gracias por todo.

casa fantastica

A casa é fantástica, muito acolhedora, agradável e bem decorada e muito limpa. os quartos são grandes e as camas muito confortáveis. Os W.C. são muito funcionais e não falta nada. A lareira na sala é fantástica proporcionando um ambiente ainda mais acolhedor no inverno (o proprietário faz questão de não faltar lenha). toda a casa tem aquecimento central automático para as noites frias. a cozinha é muito espaçosa e não falta nada. a localização da casa é muito boa pois como é central na província Galiza e de lá facilmente se viaja para todos os pontos de interesse a visitar. como a casa em questão se encontra numa quinta relativamente afastada das grandes confusões urbanas, é ótima para relaxar e ter umas boas noites de sono. as grandes superfícies comerciais estão a mais ou menos a 15 minutos de via rápida. a net também tem mas é por 3G, por isso tem que se utilizar com as devidas limitações de velocidade. para viajar aconselho um bom GPS, apesar de as estradas estarem bem assinaladas por Espanha. fomos tratados muito bem, os proprietários são incrivelmente simpáticos e prestáveis. sempre preocupados com o nosso bem estar. recomendo vivamente a quem desejar passar umas férias na Galiza.

Huge and cosy apartment near Santiago

If you are looking for a remote and peaceful apartment in the Santiago area, I can fully recommend this property. The booking process was quick and uncomplicated with Raquel who speaks english. The family is very friendly and welcoming and with Raquel's translation it was easy going.The spotless apartment is huge and all equipment we needed for cooking was available. The living area is very cosy, with beautiful paintings and plenty of candles available to light in the evening. The beds are comfortable with nice blankets which was needed as the temperatures during the night dropped to 13 degrees. As I am currently living in London, I really enjoyed the quiet house and environment which gave me an uninterrupted night sleep. We were deeply impressed by the beautiful maintained garden with a lot of arty stone constructions and a pool. The garden which is attached to the apartment has nice seating area, where we enjoyed amazing sunsets over Galicia. The village Santiso is quite small so we did our shopping in Santiago except from the bread that you can buy from a vending bus. There are buses going to Santiago for 1.50€ but only twice a day so you need to be organised. Next time I would probably rent a car to get around more easily. The Camino de Frances is nearby and on our first day we just walked to Santiago, which was very well signed and we met interesting people. Santiago is an exhilarating, historical city with plenty of opportunities to do. There is a central bus station where you can get buses to the airport, different destinations in Galicia like Finisterre and back to Santiso. It was a bit tricky with the buses, but Raquel was an invaluable source to get al the information we needed. I would definitely recommend this place to my friend and relatives and I hope to have another holiday here in the near future.

UN ENTORNO IDEAL PARA UNAS MARAVILLOSAS VACACIONES

Hemos disfrutado de una semana de lujo. La casa ofrece confort, tranquilidad, comodidad, descanso,.. decorada con buen gusto y con todos los detalles que te hacen sentir como en tu propia casa. Situación inmejorable y muy bien comunicada. En cuanto a los anfitriones, también hay que otorgarles las 5 estrellas por su hospitalidad y simpatía. Muchas gracias Carmen, Raquel, Pepe y qué decir de la abuela! y hasta los perros nos recibieron con cariño!! Y todo durante una semana soleada que nos mostró una Galicia preciosa y gastronómica. ¡Hasta la próxima!

IDEAL PARA DESCONECTAR

Perfecto para recargar pilas. La casa está ubicada en un entorno tranquilo y hermoso, además de bien comunicado por carretera con Santiago de Compostela, a 12 kms. y con las principales carreteras y autovías para ir a cualquier otro punto de Galicia. La casa en sí misma resulta muy acogedora y bien equipada, además de estar bien conservada y limpia. Cabe destacar la amabilidad y la disposición de Pepe, Carmen y Raquel para ayudar con cualquier cuestión que se les plantée. Es realmente recomendable para alojarse unos días. Galicia es muy grande y nos quedaron muchas cosas por ver, así que cuando volvamos a ir repetiremos estancia, porque quedamos encantados.

Casa perfecta en todos los sentidos. Pepe y su familia son gente encantadora y se han esforzado al máximo en hacer que nuestra estancia haya sido lo mejor posible. Los niños se lo han pasado en grande (¡hasta Pepe jugo un rato al fútbol con ellos!). La ubicación es fantástica para recorrer Galícia ya que esta justo al lado de la autovía y a escasos 10 minutos de Santiago y de zonas comerciales y la casa tiene todo lo necesario, desde TV de plasma hasta lavadora. Probablemente repetiremos. Gracias por hacernos sentir como en casa!

A good base for Green Spain

This review was originally posted in July 2010 'The property is described as "semi detached". To UK guests this means two houses of the same size, each beside the other. In fact, it is actually a flat, forming about 25% of the house, and the owners live next door and upstairs. This was not obvious from the photos. The south-facing private garden is directly overlooked by two ground-floor dining room windows of the main house, although there was rarely anyone in those rooms. There is a parking area behind the house shared with the family. Access to the swimming pool is gained by walking around the house and across the main garden, which is a field of about 2.5 hectares, with sheep and hens. So the pool is about 200m from the door. It is a curious elevated construction with a huge stone column at one end but of a very good size and kept spotlessly clean. The family - who are lovely, very friendly and often brought fruit and nuts - don't speak any English apart from Raquel who deals with the bookings. This was not a problem for us as we try to avoid places used by British tourists anyway. Raquel does not stay at the house - she was always incredibly helpful with great communications and even met us at the airport. The house has very effective double glazed windows. There was a large LCD TV. [ We understand from Raquel there is now a kettle - essential for Brits!]. The Santiso district in which the property sits is still growing. At the moment it has little to offer by way of entertainment apart from a hotel and two pubs about 1/2 km walk away (plus a restaurant that never seems to be open). There is no village square as such, however an evening in the pub was always good fun with plenty of local characters. The area is only 12km from wonderful Santiago de Compostela, 4km from the airport and is a good holiday base with easy access to the motorway nextwork. If you were expecting 100% privacy with lots of old-world charm and entertainment on your doorstep, perhaps you should look elsewhere. If you want excellent value for money amongst friendly people in a quiet area, a nice pool and are prepared to make your own entertainment (or need a base for travel and exploring) then the property can be recommended. The family also have two dogs, one of which will provide regular and affectionate entertainment.
