This well-equipped, family friendly property offers a comfortable base from which to explore the Western Lakes and the Cumbrian coastline, from the unspoilt wilderness of Ennerdale to the natural beauty of St Bees Head. Set in a quiet row of terraced cottages, this property offers open views to the fields and fells at the front and access to Ennerdale Cycle Path to the rear, making a great family and dog friendly base from which to enjoy this picturesque part of Cumbria. Parkside Cottage offers a warm and relaxing environment that is perfect for families and couples. With parking directly outside and an enclosed garden with decking, terrace area, bedding plants and seating, you’ll love this little sun trap in the afternoon. It’s also ideal to let your dogs (and kids) out for a bit of fresh air! Upstairs you’ll find a bedroom with a kingsize bed and a permanently situated cot, great if you have an infant, and a further double bedroom, both with comfortable furnishings and views from the front and rear. Downstairs features a spacious, open plan living/dining room with toys and games provided for a fun night in. You’ll also find a well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Parkside Cottage is located on the fringe of the Lake District National Park in a small hamlet between two villages, both approximately 1 mile away, and each offering fast food and convenience stores. The nearest bar and restaurant are located in the hotel at the end of the terraced row, and offers a good dining and drinks menu. A short drive to the Lake District National Park brings an abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains and lakes. Your nearest lake is Ennerdale Water which is 5 miles away. Ennerdale is regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of the Lake District and is full of wildlife including red squirrels, osprey and buzzards. If that’s not enough, Loweswater is just 10 miles away which leads to Crummock Water and then Buttermere.

The scenery around this unspoilt part of The Lakes is stunning, and the beauty, colours and unforgettable panoramic views are a sight to behold. Whether you want an easy stroll, a challenging walk or a serious climb, you’ve got a great base to start your adventures. Whitehaven, 5 miles, has good restaurants, supermarkets, shopping and a popular harbour. St Bees Head Heritage Coast is 6 miles away, offering excellent coastal walks and golden sandy beaches, very popular with families and dog lovers. Head south for a trip on La’al Ratty, the famous Cumbrian miniature railway line between Ravenglass to Dalegarth, for a great family day out. Or if you’re feeling really energetic, you’re just a 30-minute drive to Wast Water and Wasdale Head, giving you the shortest and most direct route to the summit of the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike. Beach 5½ miles. Shop 1¼ miles, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

A well appointed cottage with an excellent restaurant at the hotel within a short walking distance.
A well appointed cottage with an excellent restaurant at the hotel within a short walking distance. The only downsides are the A road outside can be noisy at times and some of the distances to lake attractions can take time. That said a very enjoyable place to use as a base for a holiday..
