About the host
Hosted by Karen Blanshard
I now split my time between France and the UK.
We bought Vaudezert in July 203 and moved in full time in the August, living there and renovating for 8 years, when at that point we returned to the UK full time to finish the education of our two children.
Now the children are grown up and flying the nest we have time to dedicate to Vaudezert where our real passion lies.

Why they chose this property
Vaudezert is full of history being built in the 1600's and added to over later years.
Between the great war and the second world war the property was gifted to the Church at Domfront. They used it for young priests from all over France to come and study religion.
During the second world war the property was occupied by the German Army who also had a large base in the near by village of Perrou.
During the liberation Vaudezert was then occupied by the American Army who were in position to guard a fuel pipeline in the Mayenne river not far from us.
We have a Chapel on the first floor which is now home to your lounge/dining area with the old vestry now being the kitchen. This was added to the house post war when the priests were using it for their studies.
This area is a very tranquil area and has a great energy to it. We have recently had a group of therapists stay who found it perfect for meditation and yoga.

What makes this property unique
You will fall in love with Vaudezert as we have. We are so lucky to have the Spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne on our doorstep which has many restaurants and hotels and is open 7 days a week. There are two Michelin Starred restaurants within 10 minutes of us. The closest being Le Manoir du Lys in Bagnoles and the Auberge de la Mine just 10 minutes to the north of us. (Booking is highly recommended).
