We chose the Baixa of Setúbal because it represents the authentic heart of the city. It is an area where daily life, history and culture coexist naturally, offering a genuine experience rather than a purely touristic one.
The scene is vibrant and lived in. Traditional shops, local cafés, family run restaurants and small squares create a dynamic yet relaxed atmosphere. Everything is within walking distance, from Avenida Luísa Todi and the Mercado do Livramento to the ferry to Tróia, museums and the waterfront. There is a strong sense of community, with locals going about their routines alongside visitors discovering the city.
What we enjoy most about this area is its balance. It is central and practical, but also full of character. You feel the rhythm of Setúbal, the connection to the river and the sea, and the proximity to nature, with the Arrábida always nearby. It is an ideal base to experience the city as it truly is, comfortable, authentic and alive.
