About this property

Westerleigh Cottage - sleeps 4 guests in 3 bedrooms

As you approach Westerleigh Cottage, set down a paved garden path away from the lane, overlooking nothing but sweeping green fields filled with grazing livestock and woodland, you may feel as though you have reached a Cotswold paradise. Constructed of the iconic honey-coloured Cotswold stone for which this area is so well-known, Westerleigh Cottage is the perfect blend of mod-con luxury and unique country-cottage features.

From the gated gravel driveway with secure parking for up to four cars, you can admire the stunning views. With a secure fenced garden stretching around the house, there is plenty of space to enjoy the fresh country air and relax. A paved patio area wraps its way around the front door and sitting room, with additional sets of two patio doors providing further access straight from the sitting room to the patio. On the patio you will find a beautiful large glass-topped outdoor dining table with seating for up to eight guests and retractable parasol, as well as lovely comfy corner seating with a coffee table - perfect for a drink as the sun sets.

Westerleigh Cottage has featured in several glossy magazines. Once you step inside, you'll see why. Decorated throughout in complimentary Farrow & Ball earth tones, with unique contemporary twists on traditional country home grandeur, with a sensory emphasis on raw materials, from the exposed Cotswold stone walls and brick fireplaces, original timber beams, copper furnishings throughout the kitchen and velvet adorned sitting room furniture. Guests have full use of the house with its spacious sitting room, slick kitchen/dining area, luxurious master bedroom with en-suite, cosy twin bedroom, charming child's bedroom and opulent family bathroom with perhaps the biggest free-standing bathtub in the Cotswolds!

Ground Floor

Entrance Hall:
Step through the front door into the welcoming Entrance Hall, decorated in soft slate grey tones. Slip off your shoes and immediately feel a sense of homely warmth thanks to the underfloor heating throughout the ground floor. There's plenty of hooks to hang your coats and space to leave shoes.

Downstairs WC:
A convenient downstairs toilet and washbasin, perfect for a guest sleeping on the pull-down wall bed in the sitting room. Filled with an array of interesting and quirky artwork, this WC proves that even the smallest of spaces can be stylish!

Sitting Room:
The main feature of this bright spacious room is the large Cotswold stone fireplace which houses a cosy woodburner for guest use. Painted in neutral shades, the quirky country features set the tone in this room, with thick brushed cotton tweed-effect blinds, a gingham inspired feature wall and antler themed decorative pieces. Get cosy around the fireplace on the sumptuous velvet sofa and foot stool and high-backed armchairs and be sure to make use of the soft blankets and throws. Tune into the Smart TV, settle down for a movie night using the DVD player, or even get the competitive spirit going with a boardgame from the vast selection in the sideboard to the right of the fireplace. The sitting room makes for the perfect relaxing environment to lose yourself in a book, and there's plenty of lighting, including a lovely retractable overhead reading lamp.

Towards the back of the room is a separate area containing a rocking chair and the pull-down double wall bed. This area can be separated from the rest of the room with a thick partition curtain, allowing privacy - the perfect hide-out for younger guests. There are two sets of patio doors in the sitting room from which the patio can be accessed.

Kitchen-Dining Room:
A breath-taking space, perfect for cooking and dining. This room is part of the original house, as illustrated by the beautiful exposed Cotswold stone wall, large disused fireplace and original beams. With two cushioned window seats, a dining table that seats 8 comfortably and 3 bar stools, you won't be short of places to sit and relax in this room. Decorated in cool neutral tones with warm touches of copper and slate-inspired work surfaces, the kitchen effortlessly conceals all the mod-cons you will need around the central island unit, including two fridges with a freezer compartment, Rangemaster 5-ring conduction hob double oven with remote controlled extractor fan, double Belfast sink, and a built-in wine cooler to name but a few. In the pantry next to the fireplace you will find a microwave and toaster (the toaster can be removed and used on the worksurfaces) as well as placemats and a few kitchen basics.

First Floor

Master Bedroom:
The first thing that will strike you about the master bedroom is its lofty ceiling and ornate original beam structure. The second thing is the enormous, comfy super king size bed! A wonderfully spacious and elegant room with garden views and two cushioned window seats, this bedroom feels instantly soothing and restorative. With concealed beam spotlights and dusky rose walls offsetting the exposed Cotswold stone, there's no better place for a good night's sleep. There's plenty of storage space, with a large chest of drawers, cast-iron hanging rack and storage shelf and hooks on the back of the door. Guests staying in the master bedroom have access to their own private en-suite, separated by a curved partition wall next to an original brickwork fireplace. The en-suite features a walk-in shower, toilet and washbasin with a beautiful view over the valley.

Twin Bedroom:
Bright and fresh as a daisy, the twin bedroom has two comfortable single beds with a shared bedside table and large chest of drawers for storage as well as door hooks. And a convenient full-length mirror. Double aspect windows provide plenty of natural light.

Laundry Room:
A convenient upstairs laundry for guest use featuring a steam iron with ironing board, washing machine, tumble dryer and sink.

Child's Bedroom:
A sweet and cosy bedroom featuring a single bed with a removable safety guard (stored in the utility room). Little ones will love this special room. It's decorated with pastel bunting, plenty of friendly little characters and a very unusual stack-of-books bedside table, making it the perfect bedroom for younger guests. There's even a whole cabinet filled with toys and games. Safety features in this bedroom include child lock window restrictions and a remote-controlled blind.

Family Bathroom:
A sumptuous deep purple decorated room, with an enormous free-standing bathtub providing unrivalled views over the Cotswolds countryside. With a separate tap and shower head unit, guests can relax comfortably in the bath. There's even a bath tray to place your book or glass. The bathroom also houses a large walk-in shower with rain head and shower hose, toilet and washbasin.

Outside

Guests have use of the generously sized garden at Westerleigh with stunning views of the valley beyond. A paved patio area houses an eight-seater outdoor dining set with parasol as well as comfy corner seating area and coffee table.

6/10 Okay

Maintenance/not organised
The location is great but a lot of things were not clean at all. We had to look for washing dishes item and kitchen towels. Pots, pans, plates, glasses are all mixed and all different. Many windows and all garden doors cannot be opened and are stuck Front door opens and closes dramatically with key. Shower drain in master bedroom does not flush. Pillows for garden table and lounge set are dramatically filthy! We have enjoyed the country side and of late location of the house but overall I wouldn’t recommend my friends or family this house the way it is in now.

Lovely stay
We had a wonderful stay at Westerleigh cottage; it is beautiful, spacious, tastefully decorated, well-maintained, comfortable and clean. The garden is delightful, offering lovely views. Situated in a charming village not far from Cheltenham, it is an ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds. The booking process was smooth, and communication excellent.

Perfect base for a perfect stay
The cottage was an absolute delight to stay in with everything thought of… A real credit must go to the owners We will be staying there numerous times throughout the year, when we have to be in Cheltenham (if available, obviously)

Beautiful cottage, peace & quiet
Our arrival at the cottage were met by gasps from my wife and friend. Furnishings and space strike you the most. Beautiful surroundings, with fields and houses dotted about in the lane. Michelle & Robert (caretakers) were called in the morning as the heating had not come on. The weather, totally unexpected turned rather chilly. They were brilliant and arrived very quickly to rectify the issue, purchasing a good supply of logs etc. as well. If you want peace and quiet together with comfort Westerleigh Cottage does it all. Kilkeney Inn is a fab place to eat, amazing chef.
