About this property

Perfect for a single or couple, this getaway was built in 2012 and was used by just family and friends until mid-2017. Approximately 400sq ft of living space, plus a large deck, fully equipped kitchen, outdoor grill, full bath, ample seating and a new queen size bed. Plus highest-speed internet for guests working from home or streaming Netflix or Prime.

Owner lives in main house on the property, but structures are separate and private. Private driveway/parking space for use by guests. For longer stays, laundry is available. Beach chairs and an umbrella are provided. Pets are welcome, and a friendly dog lives on the main part of the property.

The commercial area of OB is just a few blocks downhill, with retail, restaurants, and bars, as well as surfing and swimming beaches.

Great views in a quiet neighbourhood

A very friendly host, fabulous ocean views from the deck in a very quiet neighbourhood. The studio has anything you need, shops and restaurants are about 15min walk down the hill. Everyone in OB was very friendly, the neighborhood so beautiful. We stayed for 6 nights and didn’t want to leave.

Great Ocean Beach spot

Late Summer vacation

We had a great time, felt very comfortable safe and had plenty of privacy, all while knowing our host was onsite nearby and available to assist with any questions. Very friendly and welcoming especially after a long trip from the East Coast. Ocean Beach area very relaxed and the property was a great refuge after a day in the city or at the beach. Felt Like Home!

We stayed at Kents property for our trip to San Diego this past week. I'm a light sleeper so hotels aren't exactly ideal for our vacations, but this unit was perfect! Kent was very friendly and welcoming, and the unit we stayed in was spotless. It was so nice to have off street parking and all the amenities that were provided (there was even a grill!) Kent is very responsive to texts which made the process so easy for us. We cannot thank him enough! We will be back!

As of early 2017, I had never listed the guesthouse; instead, I saved it for family and friends. They tell me they like the privacy - and they keep coming back! I'm also only a text away if you need anything at all; otherwise, you will not know I'm nearby (and vice versa).

Why they chose this property

"Upper OB" is a quiet residential neighborhood but is only a few blocks uphill from the commercial area of OB. In summer, we don't drive our cars on weekends, as we have everything in OB. Please note that the San Diego airport is 4 miles away and we can hear aircraft occasionally. It is quiet from 11:30pm until 6:30am everyday, as there is a curfew for take-offs during these hours.

What makes this property unique

When I added the "granny flat" in 2012, I had an idea how good the views would be. But is turned out even better. I tried to stick to a "beach house" design, with bamboo floors and tile, and an open floor plan. I lived in it for 4 months while renovating the kitchen in the main house.
