About this property

Wonderful Welsh cottage. Dog friendly. EV charger. Near Betws y Coed. Snowdonia

Old Rectory Cottage is a lovely Welsh cottage, originally in the grounds of the village Rectory. The cottage is also known as Rectory Bach, meaning little Rectory.

All three bedrooms, the lounge and the kitchen have a great view of the Conwy Valley.

Downstairs there is a large fully equipped kitchen diner which seats 6 people. A bathroom with bath & overhead shower. A lovely lounge with a wood-burning stove to relax in front of with comfy seating for 6 people. The restful downstairs bedroom looks out onto the garden and patio area, with a superking bed which can be made up as two singles, and a sofa and TV.

Upstairs there are two large bedrooms with double aspect windows with Conwy Valley views, and another bathroom with a walk-in shower. As with the downstairs bedroom, we offer the choice of two superking size beds which can be made up as four single beds if this is preferred.

The private cottage style garden, which faces the valley and catches the sun, has seating areas, patio & decking. Part of the garden is enclosed to keep escape artist dogs safe. A BBQ is available for guests to use. Plus there is small garden cabin, perfect for reading a book and having quiet moments.

The cottage has its own driveway, with parking for two cars.
We have installed an EV charger which can only be used by our guests - please request at time of booking.

Clean and comfortable cottage in a picturesque and convenient location
Despite the wet and windy weather, we had a lovely holiday in North-Wales. The cottage was pretty, spacious, clean and comfortable, and it had everything we needed. The welcome pack with Welsh goodies left by Rachael and Mike made us feel welcome from the start. The view from the top of the hill is beautiful and Trefriw is conveniently located to do lots of sightseeing. We could not believe how impressive the Fairy Falls waterfall was - less than a one minute stroll from the cottage. The characterful Old Ship Inn had a good menu, fine food and a cosy atmosphere. If you'd like to eat at Chandler's Brasserie it is best to book beforehand as they were fully booked during our stay. To fellow travellers, we can recommend the Cwm Idwal walk which is spectacular. The Great Orme Tramway Funicular and a cream tea at The Lemon Tree (with Alice in Wonderland theme) in Llandudno are well worth a visit. Beddgelert is so quaint and picturesque, not to be missed. Portmeirion with its vibrant colours, impressive architecture and woodland walk is a lovely experience. And Betws-y-Coed is only a short drive from Trefriw and good for some shopping on rainy days, offering a few eateries and beautiful falls walks as well. We can definitely recommend a stay at The Rectory Cottage in Trefriw.

Lovely Wales
Enclosed garden excellent for dogs, beautiful mature shrubs. Good sized accommodation, as a party of 4 adults and a young baby had plenty of room to breathe. Lovely views looking across the hills, and cottage near to amenities. Overall stay was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hi, we're Mike and Rachael. We live nearby the cottage. A few years ago we use to own a bed and breakfast in nearby Betws y Coed.

We enjoy walking in Snowdonia with our two dogs Boots and Benji. Mike is a keen golfer, whilst Rachael enjoys running and yoga.

Why they chose this property

Old Rectory Cottage is located in the lovely peaceful village of Trefriw in the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage itself is in a great location, with views of the Conwy Valley and great walks from the front door. The busy village of Betws y Coed (known as the Gateway to Snowdonia) is a 10 minute drive away, and Conwy with it's cobbled streets, its castle and the Smallest House in Wales is a 15 minute drive away. There is lots to explore in the area. Activity adventure with hikes up mountains and exploring caves, and Zip World and paddleboarding. Walks around the local lakes of Crafnant and Gerionyedd. Castles, steam trains, stately homes, including the National Slate Museum. And gardens to visit, including the National Trust Bodnant Gardens. A variety of beaches are just a 30 minute drive away, with some being dog friendly all year round. We have locals knowledge about what to see and do. We're happy to answer any questions when booking to help you plan your holiday.

What makes this property unique

Old Rectory Cottage is great for families and friends. There's plenty of space with two communal rooms downstairs - kitchen/diner and the lounge.

The bedrooms are large. The superking beds can also be made up as single beds so there is flexible sleeping arrangements. Please notify Mike and Rachael in advance of arrival with your choice of bed configuration.

And you are not limited to having just the one bathroom - there are two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs.

There are wonderful views of the Conwy Valley from house. It's lovely either relaxing in the garden with a glass of wine or keeping warm in the cosy lounge with the roaring fire in the wood burner. Dog friendly with an enclosed area of the cottage garden. Dogs are allowed in all the downstairs area of the cottage. We provide an untethered EV charging point for our guests only. This must be requested at the time of booking. Mike and Rachael live locally. We personally take care of our cottage. We want our guests to have a lovely holiday.
