Good Location with Quirks and Noise
Location is part of 3 buildings with multiple rooms on site. Room directly above this one. It is centrally located for getting to Sarasota & Siesta Key. Access code is with coffee shop. Positives: Staff is very friendly & prompt. We interacted with several, including Jessica (the owner), and each one was pleasant and helpful. Restaurant onsite (not the coffee shop - we never made it there) was quaint & rustic. Dinner was delicious & we ate every bite. Staff even set us up at a reserved table of our choosing after check in. The stage & band are just outside your door. We had a reserved table just behind & to the side of the band. Owner left a bottle of wine which we enjoyed while watching the band. Nice touch. Good storage, unless you want to use your suitcase instead of unpacking everything. A folding luggage table would be a nice addition, but not a deal breaker. Negatives. This room has 4 doors in it. 3 will likely give you some light at bedtime. The bathroom door is 1 (we'll get back to this one). Then there is the PITA one, the one behind the headboard. It leads to the stairwell to the upstairs room & the light was on 24/7. At night, this door lit up like a bright yellow rectangle. It also transmits the noise of anyone taking the stairs to your restful noggin at night. Entry door has attached horizontal blinds over the window that don't cover the window flush. Someone covered some panes, but those last 2 on top let the street lamp outside cut across the face of the person sleeping on the side closest to the bathroom. We hung something over the blinds. The last door leads to the laundry room. Another bright yellow rectangle of light if this light doesn't get turned off. Luckily, you can access the laundry via your room to shut it off. There is AC in the room, but it's a wall unit on the other side of the room from the bed. Annoying, the bed is tucked back a little, making air flow poor to the head portion of the bed. Worse, if you leave that bathroom door open, you block the air. It takes a lot for that unit to overcome FL heat. Warm until around 2 am at full blast on most nights. If someone is upstairs, you will hear EVERY step they take. If they take the stairs, same thing. We had a night owl. No cable in room. Firestick only with a poor connection & few choices. Under bed was super dust bunny farm. Lack of decor in room. No shower mat for floor. Trash can lid broken. Onsite food options closed M-W. Some road noise.

Review of the Review
This was a girls getaway. The Review is quaint, quirky and fun. The BEST staff ever. Very accommodating and room was clean and comfortable. Along a busy intersection so light sleepers be aware…. We enjoyed coffee out in the patio each morning. There is a full brunch and dinner menu. Be sure to check their calendar for entertainment and meals.

You’re on your own...
*no privacy *poor sound insulation *no cable TV only Amazon Fire Stick *housekeeping absent *parking issues *clean contemporary room & amenities *comfortable bed *poor window A/C unit *Friendly staff While the location was great, the noise level between the traffic and evening band(s) were enough to drive us from our room until after 11pm. Parking was extremely limited. Housekeeping was non existent and whomever attempted to make the bed prior to our arrival needs a lesson in bed making. The property needs maintenance and exterior attention. Very quaint but bordering shabby. Not worth the room rate at roughly $250 a night.

Modern, unique, charming, easy getaway!
Great clean studio with full kitchen for a long weekend getaway. Close to beaches and town center. Quiet mostly, yet loved the live band on some nights. Coffee shop and wine/beer shop are both super cute and fun to enjoy! Staff is also very helpful and attentive.

I have lived, in Sarasota for about 20 years and love the area. I purchased these historically significant buildings in 2016 and have lovingly restored them so that Sarasotans and other visitors can enjoy them, too!

Why they chose this property

The Reserve Retreat is a landmark property, steeped in Sarasota's rich art and cultural heritage. The three buildings were part of circus magnate Charles Ringling's estate before his Mansion was built. At various times, it was a boarding house and a circus performance venue. Today, it is a redeveloped gorgeous property with three buildings on a single parcel joined by a beautiful outdoor courtyard. It is across the street from the Sarasota Bay and just minutes to Downtown, and both Lido Key and Siesta Key beaches!

What makes this property unique

The Reserve Retreat has many enjoyable facets: restaurant for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner (except for Monday & Tuesday when we close at 3p), beer/wine bar, coffee shop, small book store, and music venue.
