Private Point On Beautiful Hancock Pond, House Is Only Steps Away From The Water

Edgeset is located on Hancock Pond in Denmark, Maine. (Ponds can be very large in Maine - this one happens to be approximately 2 miles across!) This vacation home was constructed in 1966 and has been a favorite vacation site for the Hershey family and many other families since that time. The property consists of approximately 1.5 acres of wooded land and 250' of water frontage. The front deck is about 30' from the water's edge and has a wonderful view looking south over the lake.

Edgeset is a great place to relax and just get away from our busy of lives. Enjoy a swim in the clear lake water (you can often see the bottom at up to 10' deep). Take a canoe ride to enjoy the beautiful scenery as well as the local wildlife, you typically will encounter at least one of the following: loons, eagles, Mergansers, Bass and many more. Or maybe you want to go for a walk/hike in the woods, there are many options to choose from.

The home itself is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house/cabin that is a great place to be in every season. It has beds for up to 7 people (queen, full/double, 3 twins with one twin as an upper bunk), a washer & dryer, fireplace, ping pong table and a large deck. In 2017, the first floor underwent a major renovation that included a complete kitchen remodel with new appliances, a new bathroom, and new flooring. All of which enhance the Maine lake experience! The closest store is Jimbob's general store that has a little bit of everything and is about 4 miles from the house. For additional shopping including grocery stores, hardware store and all kinds of unique shops the town of Bridgton ME is about 10 miles from Edgeset.

Want to go and explore the area? This vacation rental is centrally located between the Coastal beaches of Maine and the White Mountain Range in New Hampshire & Western Maine, either are within an hour drive. So you have many choices to choose from, a day at the beach, a drive to the top of Mount Washington, a local hike, swimming in a refreshing mountain stream, oh and if need be, plenty of shopping! Shawnee Peak Ski resort is just a short 10 minute drive away.

This place so perfect!

Wish we could keep it a secret because we would wish it to be available just for us we loved it so much! We were 2 sisters just looking for relaxation, time together, catching up our knitting stash, and seeing fall colors. We got it in spades. Cabin richly appointed, beautiful remodel, everything you’d ever want. Top bang for your buck. The views and situation on the lake are unbelievable. All the networks and electronic viewing including Netflix. Amazon, and premium channels. The fireplace was wonderful. The kitchen with everything you’d ever want or need. Privacy and quiet but easy access to town for needs. Our favorite cider place, literally down the street, Randall orchards. The best cider in the world. And our fav lobster rolls at the lobster place in Bridgeton. To die for! Beds comfortable. Stairs a bit steep and narrow to top floor with bedrooms, but doable for even us 60 type people. Only drawback is must go downstairs to living area for bathroom for midnight needs. 🤣. We are planning return visits with Hubbies and/or kids. Thank you Hershey’s for a beautiful home that you shared.

A slice of heaven in good old Maine

My son and I wanted to get away on a lakefront property and totally "unplug" and unwind. This property was just what the doctor ordered; a spectacular view of Hancock Pond, inside and outside stone fire place with plenty of cut wood, comfy beds, and a well equipped kitchen. We wish we could have stayed longer, but four days was enough to get a taste of true R&R.

Beautiful and Relaxing

My wife and I plus another couple stayed here for a long ski weekend. This place was fantastic. Ski by day at nearby Shawnee Peak, then relax by the fire at night. Views of the Hancock Pond were beautiful. Hope to stay here again!! Thanks Ron and Regina!!

Perfect Maine Getaway

Wonderful home. Very well supplied and furnished. An impressive variety of dishes and cookware available. 3 grills to choose from (2 charcoal and 1 propane). Lots of games/books/cards available. The views from the deck are beautiful, peaceful and private. We experienced colder than normal weather for the end of October but no worries - the fireplace was so warm and inviting with plenty of wood available. Very friendly town in nearby Bridgton! We enjoyed Beth's Kitchen Cafe for breakfast and Black Horse Tavern for dinner. Both excellent! Having Hannafords Market so close was awesome (15 minutes). Be sure to stop by the bookstore in town! One could get lost in there for hours. The Magic Lantern movie theater & pub is a great option for a cold and/or rainy day. But, no doubt, those coming in the summer won't want to leave this beautiful property and who could blame them with all the water activities right there. We have rented many (many, many) vacation homes over the years. Edgeset ranks among the very best. The owners provide a detailed welcome packet with more info available at the house. The is truly a year round rental option. Convenient (yet private) location, plenty to do in any season in a modern, bright home. Thanks for a wonderful vacation.

Outstanding Home overlooking Hancock Pond, The pictures are nice but being there is better.

You can tell that Ron and Regina Love this home. Thank you for sharing Edgeset and Wow! what a place. The rooms are recently renovated with windows that bring the outdoors in. We only spent a long weekend here and wish we had stayed longer. When we were not paddling around on the water we spent our time sitting around the fire pit watching the loons and ducks swim by. The kitchen is wonderful. If you love to cook and hang out with friends and family the open kitchen and living space is great. If want a beautiful home in a beautiful location, Edgeset offers everything you would need for a wonderful time indoors or outdoors. Thank you for letting us stay in your home.

Enchanting family get away!

My family has vacationed here since I was a little girl. This was the first summer I was able to take my children! It was absolutely perfect, I was able to relive some of my childhood memories through my children. The chipmunks and squirrels provided wonderful entertainment during our morning coffee, we refilled the hummingbird feeders while we were there and my 3 year old daughter thought the birds were fairy's. That became a wonderful time! She would sit and watch them. I will never be able to show my appreciation for what this place has meant to me over the past 30 years. Relaxing Week on Hancock Pond

We loved our week on Hancock Pond! The house was great. We spent the week hanging out on the back deck, canoeing, swimming, and enjoying the campfire. The house is on a small peninsula surrounded by trees, so there's enough privacy between neighbors. I enjoyed hearing the loons sing across the pond. I would definitely recommend this house for a family vacation. Thank you!!

Wet Yet Awesome!

We had everything we needed except more sunshine! Ron and Regina were very accommodating and when a small problem arose the care taker was quick to handle it.. The house was secluded and the water was warm and clear......perfect!

Pure serenity

Pictures of this property do not do it justice, it's beautiful and very peaceful! The house is well appointed and extremely clean. The house sits up on a little bit of a hill, so the view is wide, even with a few trees obstructing. Water was very clear, and not too cold in June, the kids loved jumping off the dock. We used the row boat and kayak which was nice to have available. Only downside would be there is no available boat rental service to this pond, which can be seen as an upside, since it is quieter!

Summer Fun

This was our second year staying at Edgeset. The house has everything you need. Once you've been to the grocery store you can sit back and relax. The water is clean and warm for Maine standards and the wildlife is entertaining.Magic Lantern in Bridgeton this visit. Beautiful Old Style theater for both movies and live performances and at an affordable price. Thank you, Ron and Regina for sharing Edgeset with us.

Nice relaxing cottageon the lake

Ron spent summers at this home while growing up. After attending college at the University of Colorado, Ron lived in Colorado for 23 years. Ron now lives in Pennsylvania with wife, Regina, who also owns and runs the property.

Why they chose this property

The location of this property is perfect for many reasons. It faces south, so it is warmer when the weather is cool (northerly winds don't blow on us) and cooler when the weather is warm (southerly breezes blow up the lake at the house). It is also located within an hour drive of the Maine beaches and the big mountains in NH and western ME.

What makes this property unique

Hancock Pond is known for great fishing, clear water, and being the perfect size for all sorts of water activities including boating of all types - kayaking, canoeing, sailing, water skiing, tubing, jet skiing, etc. - snorkeling, swimming, and just about anything else you might like to do on the lake! Edgeset is situated on a point with water on 3 sides and a first-rate fire pit on the point. Because Edgeset is located on a double size lot, the property is rather private. A great way to escape or enjoy reconnecting with family and friends!
