Owner Fraudulent
We stayed at this property for the 4th of July holiday with 4 young children. Owner has LOTS of broken items, including vacuum, washer and dryer, patio furniture, smoke detectors, no hot water, poor water pressure, etc. We could NOT wash our clothing or towels!! Owner promised a credit of $1000 but then filed fraudulent insurance claim for $950 to offset the credit that was promised. Owner stated that a credit would be given if insurance claim is approved.

A lovely slice of heaven
My parents had wanted to visit the outer banks of NC for years. Having lived in Durham, my wife and I visited the area many times, and I decided if we ever came back to visit, I wanted to stay on the beach drive area. It is other worldly there. To the east is the Atlantic and to the west is the Sound. Everywhere in between is sugar sand for as far as one can see to the north and south, and in the middle of all this is Sunnybank. We had sunrises AND sunsets. With the ocean (surfing, kites, boogie boards, beach lounging), pool, games, hot tubs, movie room, pub, and simply taking in the views, we had no shortage of great family fun all day long for the adults and kids alike. There's really no shortage of things to do on-site, yet plenty of space if one wants to find a quiet nook to nap or read. Oh, and the horses...they made a showing every day we were there. On the first day they came right up into the driveway as we stood there, seemingly just to say "Hi." The house and property itself were all very nice. The architecture of the house is really very impressive. Rooms were all clean, individually themed, and all provided ample space and accommodations for our party. The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of fridge (2 fridges between kitchen and lower level) and pantry space for grocery runs. Note that it is a bit of a trek back and forth to town to get groceries over the beach, so meal planning does help. Dorian had just come through, so there was a minor amount of weather damage, but that is to be expected and comes with the territory. No doubt that will get fixed up in due course. Communication with the owner was always prompt, and she was very helpful with everything we asked. Overall, our time at Sunnybank really exceeded my expectations. With so many places in the world to see, I rarely want to return to the exact same place more than once...this one may be an exception. So many great memories made there, and everyone left wanting more.

Wonderful Family Time
We had a great family time. Anything we could have thought of for any age...baby through grandparents...was available. We have stayed in many different homes in many different areas and have never had a kitchen so well supplied. This owner has definitely thoughtfully supplied for their guests needs. We saw the horses every day, in fact, they sheltered from the rain right in the carport of the house. This was truly an experience we have never had before. My greatest fear was getting stuck in the sand, but it was never a problem. We lowered the tire pressure as advised, and actually only had to shift into 4 wheel drive a few times. I would highly recommend this property to beach lovers and anyone wanting a relaxing vacation.

We are country people and most of the year live on a hundred acres in PA raising beautiful, loving Portuguese Water Dog Puppies. pwdpuppies.com

We spend a lot of time outdoors, enjoying the nature's beauty - included but not limited to the woods and ponds in PA, mountains, and the beautiful Carolina shores.

We love Outer Banks and everything that this area has to offer, and I think you will too! We hope you'll take the time to come and enjoy the area beauty in the comfort of one of our beautiful estates.

Let us help you make your summer vacation a memorable one!

Why they chose this property

We love water and the ocean so when we found Sunnybank on 3 oceanfront acres it was perfect, especially because of all the wild horses. Because we do a Friday to Friday change over day we save 5 or 6 hours coming to our house and leaving to go back home to PA instead of wasting it driving in weekend traffic.

Listed as the best place to stay in the Outer Banks:
#1 Carova. Outer Banks, North Carolina Coast, North Carolina, United States.

Location, location, location, Sunnybank is only 3 miles away from several of the most famous historical sites in the Outer Banks. Along with other great attractions.

WHALEHEAD CLUB: Completed in 1925, the sprawling lemon yellow Whale Head in Historic Corolla has served several purposes during its decades of operation, including housing a private school for boys and acting as a rocket fuel-testing base. Today, the Whale Head in Historic Corolla is one of Corolla's best attractions, offering seasonal guided tours, 39 acres of picturesque landscape for picnic baskets, and special facilities for weddings and special events. Seasonally, you'll find a few the area's best events on the premises, like the weekly Wednesday wine festival, where visitors are encouraged to sample North Carolina's best wines and local foods while listening to a little live outdoor music.

COROLLA LIGHTHOUSE: Vacationers with stamina are welcome to trek up the 214 steps to the top of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse for unparalleled 360-degree views of the Outer Banks. The historic and distinctive red lighthouse is open seasonally to visitors from 9a.m. to 5p.m., and the wooded grounds, which include the original light keepers’ home, is idyllic for a bike ride or a stroll through the live oaks. As one of the last testaments to Corolla's early roots as a local seaside community and guardian for sailors travelling past the Outer Banks, the lighthouse is a must on every visitor's list.
