A Little TLC
The owner of this property was very good at responding and provides you with pretty much all of the kitchen necessities needed. Also, bathroom towels and bedding was provided. However, though I know this is probably considered an "up north cabin" it sits in a subdivision (which was fine with us) but it REALLY needed a good cleaning. Cobwebs, dead bugs everywhere! Doors, doorjams, windows and window tracks needed to be wiped down and vacuumed. The main bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. Maybe having a rental, replacing the mattress once a year wouldn't be a bad idea. This property has SO MUCH potential with only a little TLC.
Cute little hideaway
This little cottage was cute and well stocked. It's tucked into a few trees with a fishing lake access nearby. Lake Huron is just a few miles away and if you are into a 20 minute drive, you can be on a white sands beach (listed as the best in Michigan) in Owasso. The East Tawas Lighthouse tour was worth the ticket and also just a short drive from the property.
I'd call it a tiny house in the woods, with sweet charm. There is a musty smell on the porch but Michigan folks are used to the humidity having this effect. Opening the windows and running the fan takes the worst out in a couple of hours. The house itself has no odor. While it was small, I was still able to make and host a large breakfast for 10 on a Sunday morning. We spread out, used both porches and it was fine.
I liked it - I will use it again and my grandchildren loved it.
cute, clean and cozy
We stayed here a few weeks ago for our annual family vacation. The cottage is very well set up with all the things that you need, like a coffee pot, serving ware, toaster etc. It is also very clean and has a nice size lot. It's cozy - (small) so it works out nice for 4. A quick drive to downtown and the beach.
Bring your own chairs for the firepit - there were no outdoor chairs provided.
Also the back patio with the picnic table was a nice feature to eat outside, but it was heavily soil with webs, dirt and tree droppings, would have been a nice touch to have that cleaned up for your guests arrival.
Very cute and incredibly clean. However, smell of mold/mildew was a bit overwhelming.
Do not recommend for people with asthma or mold allergies. Close location to the lake and short drive to East Tawas downtown area.
We absolutely loved this adorable cottage! It was very clean and perfectly furnished!
This cottage was the perfect fit for us! The neighbors were very friendly (including Mocha the neighborhood kitty), and the community was great for walks. Town is just a short distance away and we enjoyed live music, sidewalk sales, great food and a beautiful beach! The cottage is also perfectly furnished so we could make meals together and play games or watch a movie on nights in. We would highly recommend this rental and plan to use it again ourselves! Next time we plan to do some kayaking!
