About this property

Log Cabin with Stunning Mountain Views near Swan River and Holland Lake.

Experience the Rocky Mountains of western Montana in this log cabin centrally located in the Swan Valley. Enjoy magnificent views of the Swan Range of the Bob Marshall Wilderness to the east and Mission Mountains Wilderness to the west.

The log cabin overlooks a spring-fed wildlife pond and wetlands. Elk, native trout, great blue herons, frogs, deer, ducks, geese, and moose are among the frequent inhabitants. Located in a region of dozens of pristine lakes, waterfalls, rivers, and mountain trails, there are ample opportunities for recreation.

The cabin is perfectly situated for wildlife viewing opportunities and the enjoyment of the outdoors. Holland Lake is just six miles away where you can take a short hike to a waterfall, enjoy canoeing/kayaking/paddle boarding, go horseback riding or boating. End the day at the historic Holland Lake Lodge for dinner or a drink. Other outdoor opportunities include fly-fishing the Swan River, hiking, hunting, huckleberry picking, mountain biking, snow mobiling or cross country skiing the myriad of trails and roads on public lands in the region. For the more adventurous - excursions into the Bob Marshall and Mission Mountains Wilderness areas.

Relax in the cozy living room next to the fireplace and wood stove with leather and log furniture under a vaulted ceiling. Or sit outside around the fire pit under the stars.

The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook a mountain meal in luxury. The dining table seats six and three more can fit on the stools at the bar.

For those who'd rather be outside, there is a charcoal grill and multiple picnic tables on the property. Sit around the fire pit at night to roast s'mores and watch the stars.

The master bedroom has a full log bed and private bathroom. The second bedroom has a bunk with full-size bed on bottom and twin on top. The second bathroom is in the hallway.

The downstairs is carpeted and has three twins and one double bed. There is a TV and DVD/VHS in the basement, along with a wood stove.

The house is fully furnished for all of your needs during your stay. If interested in kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, snow mobiling, cross country skiing, etc, the Holland Lake Lodge and Seeley Lake businesses offer rentals if you don't have your own. If interested in fishing, the cabin has access to the Swan River, just a 5 minute walk down our private nature trail. Great fishing holes are just a short drive down the road.

Holland Lake is the entrance to the Bob Marshall Wilderness, just a 6 mile drive. Here you can rent canoes/kayaks/paddleboards, hike into waterfalls or enjoy a great meal or drink at the historic lodge.

The closest downhill ski area is Blacktail in Lakeside, MT about an hour away. Whitefish Mountain (Big Mountain), is about 1 hr 40 mins away. Glacier National Park is also less than a 2 hour drive. Bigfork and Flathead Lake are a 45 minute drive. Flathead is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi and offers fishing, boating, etc. Bigfork and Whitefish are great Montana towns with good restaurants and breweries if you are interested in day tripping.

Cozy and spacious cabin

The cabin was easy to find. Very clean and large! WiFi was nice to have. We were bummed that the Holland Lake Lodge was not open as it says in the ad. We would have liked to visit it for dinner and rental of paddle boards and kayaks. The beach was neat. If you need to have phone and internet this is probably north best area. But it was kind of nice to unplug for a while.

We love this place so much!!

My partner and I have been staying here for the last 5 years at least once a year, so many good memories! We're from Helena and always make a point to come at least annually. The view and cabin are both so beautiful, we even eloped here in 2020. THANKS SO MUCH!!

Awesome place to stay!

This was my second year staying at this cabin for a snowmobile trip in Seeley Lake. We absolutely loved coming back to the cabin after a long day of snowmobiling to cook dinner and watch one of the many movies on the book shelf in the cabin. There’s a stunning view right out the back window that you could sit and look at for hours! I highly recommend staying at this cabin with family or friends!!

Relaxing and Spacious

We loved the cabin! Loved that the home had all the conveniences of home. Our favorite part was getting up early and watching the deer while enjoying a cup of coffee. There was lots of room for us all to hang out and play board games. Thanks for having us!

Great home

We will be back. The home is very cozy and comfortable. Plenty of towels and blankets, well stocked, great location. Everyone in my party said their bed could have use a mattress topper, but that was the only negative feedback. The view from the back porch is incredible. The visiting kids loved exploring near the pond and even found a treehouse.

Perfect getaway for our extended family with kids

We stayed at this property in August. My husband and two young boys and my sister and her family, also with two young boys. The kids had a wonderful time exploring the property and love the private little (rugged) trail down to the river. We saw lots of deer, birds and signs of other wildlife. The views of the mountains are some of the best we've seen in the state. So pretty from the back deck. We didn't light a campfire because the forest fire danger was so high. Took a hike up to the lower falls at Holland Lake lodge. It's about 1.5 miles and good for kids and adults. Beautiful scenery. We hope to come back.

July 2024 trip

We had a fun time. There was a big event at a family members’ cabin nearby so the location was good. I am not a complainer but do feel it’s important for you to know how all three of us felt. It’s a great place but definitely needs upgrades. The grounds are beautiful. Couldn’t use fire pit due to icky weather. The basement was fun for 3 teens that spent one night and enjoyed “BUCK” The tv was really bad the whole time. The vacuum cleaners were very dirty, we were afraid to use thinking they would just blow dirt around, so couldn’t vacuum up the droppings. 😗 We were surprised that we didn’t hear from anyone, eg caretaker…. for any needs, questions we might have. The telephone service was really bad, but I guess that’s us and our carrier? Beds were fine. Loved the ‘woodsy’ blankets. One major concern was the loose post on the front porch! An accident waiting to happen, especially for older people. We were impressed with how you had everything covered re: kitchen, laundry etc. great in the supplies area! Please, we don’t mean to sound ungratefu!! We just want you to stay successful, and hope this input will be helpful. We would definitely consider it again should we have a need, and I’m sure there can be small improvements made. Thank you for everything Lyndsay 😙 Oh, btw…… someone said that the original owner was a Frank Jette from Condon. Would you by chance know if that’s true? We have known the family for years. That would be something. Again, thank you

Relaxation at its best!

This place was amazing. The cabin and decor made it very The view from the back deck was just as gorgeous as the photos in the ad. I highly suggest exploring some of the side roads, we saw some beautiful sights. The neighbor does have two big dogs that come over and pretend to be tough, but they are not. lol Would stay here again in a hart beat!

About the host

Hosted by Lyndsey

Host profile image
This cabin is owned by my brother, sister and I. We are fourth generation Montanans and and spent our childhoods in the Swan Valley, hiking and boating at Salmon, Seeley, Flathead and Holland Lake, picking huckleberries, fishing and hiking in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

We are now scattered from Bozeman/Big Sky to Missoula, Montana and Washington, D.C., but this area of Montana has our heart. The views from the cabin are breathtaking and there are beautiful hikes and trails to be found just minutes away.

Why they chose this property

This property, ideally situated between two majestic mountain ranges and just a short drive to Holland Lake was love at first sight for us. We had looked for awhile and knew immediately when we saw this cabin that it was the one for us. We have young boys who love exploring the woods and marshland around the property, watching the deer and elk come through and sitting around the campfire at night.
