This spacious apartment is well-situated on the western side of East Oxford. The neighbourhood borders Central Oxford and includes the fun part of Cowley Road - beloved by locals and visitors for its numerous multi-ethnic & independent restaurants, bars, music venues and shops. There are also green parks, river walks, a golf course and sports facilities including swimming pool, tennis courts, bouldering wall and a running track all within walking distance.
Converted from an 1890's townhouse, the apartment now offers impressive space, light and an appealing individual style equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Ideally located within easy walking distance of everything you need: 5 minutes to Cowley Road and Magdalen Road - for local shops and restaurants; 8 minutes to Magdalen Bridge - the eastern gateway to the medieval city and 10 minutes further along the College-lined High Street to Carfax Tower - Oxford's centre point.
Cars are not required in this location however for those with cars we have 24 hour visitor parking permits available for the on-street parking bays. Alternatively the apartment has excellent public transport links – for Oxford City Centre, the London airports or central London.
For work related visits we are very conveniently located for the central Oxford colleges , Oxford Brookes University, Oxford Business Park, Science Park, the John Radcliffe, Churchill and Nuffield hospitals.
The living space
The flat occupies the entire raised ground floor of a large Victorian townhouse…we have carefully renovated it, restoring beautiful period features including the sash windows, fireplace & original wood floors & the flat now offers the following features:

Exterior of the property:
The apartment does not have it's own outside space although the front steps provide an ideal place to sit by the lavender plants to watch the sunset!
Bicycles can be locked to bike racks in the small communal front garden.
Guest access:
The entire flat is for your own use and there are no shared areas.
- The flat is on the raised ground floor and there are 11 wide exterior steps up to the main front door of the house. Once inside the flat everything is on one level except for 2 steps down to the laundry area and bathroom.
- The communal front hall is the main fire escape route and so it should always be kept clear of any personal belongings.
- There is a large selection of books and DVD’s on the shelves in the communal hall which you are welcome to use and return.
Other things to note:
Our apartment is now only available for stays longer than 90 nights. We will provide a “letting agreement” which sets out full details of the rental.
- The apartment will be ready to move into with bed linen, towels, dining and cooking equipment supplied. As part of the letting agreement, we will provide a full inventory of the furnishings and equipment included but please ask if you would like to see this before making a booking.
- Two hours cleaning every fortnight with our regular cleaner is included in the rental price. This does not include linen & towel replacement but a local wash & iron service can be arranged from £35 if required.
- The quoted rental price is inclusive of charges for electricity, gas, water, internet, TV and Oxford City Council Tax. However, we can offer a discount if guests manage and pay for gas/electricity supply and Council Tax themselves, please ask for details.
- Safety features: fully integrated fire alarm system; smoke and heat detectors; carbon monoxide detectors; emergency lighting system in event of power failure
- Parking in Central Oxford is strictly controlled and by "resident permit" only, however, the flat is eligible for 2 residents parking permits available from Oxford City Council, please ask for details. In addition there is limited free 2 hour street parking 25m away in Henley Street.
Further information on the neighbourhood:
The western side of East Oxford is fast becoming a destination itself aside from the attractions of the historic city centre. This is is a vibrant multi cultural neighbourhood with numerous independent cafés, bars, restaurants, pubs and shops, all within easy walking distance of the apartment.
The lively Cowley Road is a 5 minute walk with a Boot's pharmacy, Tesco Metro and Sainsbury’s Local supermarkets as well as numerous smaller ethnic food stores and an excellent food/farmers market every Saturday selling fresh local produce. There is a wide range of restaurants and cafés in the area including Italian, Greek, Chinese, Turkish, Sri Lankan, Indian, Lebanese, Thai, Syrian, Korean, Japanese, Texmex, Caribbean and Nepalese as well as modern British! Several of the local restaurants and gastro pubs are widely renowned and we’re happy to recommend our favourites!
The Cowley Road is home to an independent cinema and arguably Oxford's best alternative nightlife with numerous bars, comedy and live music venues. Classical music venues are also nearby on the Iffley Road.
The famous Roger Bannister running track is just down the road and the adjacent Oxford University sports complex with pool and other facilities is open to visiting academics.
The River Thames is less than 5 minutes walk away and there are rowing boats and punts available for hire at Magdalen Bridge (8 minute walk). There are also several public parks, a golf course, the Oxford Botanic Gardens and green spaces alongside the rivers all within easy walking distance.
