My dad bought 20 acres at the cut in '64. My wife and I retired here in '05 to build our own little paradise. We'd planned to build a big house, but it would have taken too long to get power to the place we wanted to put it, so we built this little cottage to live in 'til then. We loved the simpler life in the cottage so much that we decided not to build the big house after all. Since then we've sold a few lots where our new friends have built their dream houses, but we've kept most of the land, so our cottage is still very private.
Dave purchased this Cottage in 1964
Why Dave chose Forbes Hill
Our land is on a small peninsula, so our privacy is guaranteed.

Most Amazing vacation ever!
We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas vacation at the Prime Cut! Very private and beautiful! Dave has been amazing and always quickly responsive to any questions. Judy Grey took great care of us. Had groceries delivered and fridge stocked car available at the airport. Chef Anne catered dinner for us that was DELICIOUS! Her husband took us out for the day on his private fishing boat for the most incredible experience ever! Even caught us fresh lobster and crab to bring back for dinner that evening. We absolutely will be back to visit again!! Thank you for a GREAT experience and sharing your home with us!
Nice with a Items to be aware of.
The house was as advertised. Included everything needed. The unpaved road to the house was a bit of an adventure.
Renters should be aware of two things:
1-There are several active security video cameras around the outside of the house including the front deck and the outside shower.
2- The lounge chairs overlooking the ocean are tied together with a small rusty wire which was a tripping hazard as it blends into the pine needles.
We had very high tides on our visit due to the winter solstice. Beach was not usable.
1. Please note that (a) the back yard camera's view includes only the outside wall of an enclosed shower and does not intrude on any guest's privacy, (b) our 4 exterior security cameras are for our guest's and our property's protection only, and (c) we offer every guest the option to have the cameras disabled during their stay.
2. I'm sorry to report that we were reluctantly forced to secure our expensive lounge chairs on the shore after several were swept to sea when they were left at the shore overnight. We also supply four brand new folding "Beach Chairs" for use anywhere our guests might venture.
A Tranquil Delight
Our stay at The Prime Cut was the epitome of relaxation and beauty. We enjoyed taking in the great views and ocean sounds while relaxing on the front porch, and daily visits from humminbirds and geckos. The color of the water was breathtaking, and we saw schools of fish while snorkeling in the calm clear water. The cottage had everything we needed to prepare meals and live comfortably. We had lunch in Georgetown one time, but all other meals were prepared at the house (many restaurants were closed over the Easter holiday weekend). Make sure to stock up on groceries in town, especially if visiting over a holiday.
The locals were very friendly. Highly recommend a visit to Little Exuma!
The Prime Cut
Excellent Stay!! Peaceful and Tranquil. Cottage had everything we needed. Clean & Cozy! Great view. Lovely Birds & Sea sounds. Judy Gray & Daughters cooked a wonderful meal one night! Richard's Conch Salad at The Ferry was the best on both Islands. Released a few Bonefish on Fly with Marvin on the Big Flats! Met some new Friends at Smokey's in Williams Town!
Pig Roast on Stocking Island Sunday was a blast!
Everyone was super friendly!
Thank you for your Hospitality. It was a wonderful 2 weeks!!!

I first visited Little Exuma in 1961, and I loved the island and its people from the start. A lot has changed since then. We now have paved roads, phones and power, and much more, but the people are just as friendly as ever. We retired to this cottage in 2005, and now we're sharing it with you whenever we're "off island."
