Lovely place to stay
Myself, my partner, our 4 children and our dog all stayed at stable cottage for a week. We were welcomed by Gaynor who was lovely, the cottage was clean, beds were so comfy and the cottage had everything we could possibly need. Gaynor responded quickly to any issues or questions we had. The cottage is lovely and peaceful and easy to find. Village shop does amazing bread and cakes too. We are already looking to book to stay again next year.

Beautiful setting and perfect base for a weekend away
Really lovely place to stay, the village itself has plenty to keep you stocked (village shop, pub and a big kids play park!) and you’re right on the doorstep to so many wonderful places. We’ve been all over and it was great to come back every night to a comfy bed and to be able to cook in a well stocked kitchen!! Thank you :)

Lovely, spacious cottage
Situated about 10 min drive from Bude and within easy driving distance of several beaches this was an ideal location to explore Bude and the Cornish coast. We travel with our dog and especially enjoy the beaches so this was perfect for us. The host, Gaynor, was easy to contact and replied quickly to queries. The cottage itself was lovely with 2 bedrooms downstairs (double and bunkbeds), the shower room was also downstairs. Entry was through the double room (a good size with a large wardrobe and plenty of storage space) and there was a further door to a pretty walled garden in the back (a useful enclosed space to allow the dog out without worrying about escape and one of the reasons we chose this property). Upstairs was a spacious open plan living/dining area and kitchen, plus a third bedroom with a further set of bunkbeds. There was a TV in the living room and the high-speed internet (a necessity in our family) lived up to its description. Everything was clean and well presented. Outside there was access to a games room which held a small pool table and a table-tennis table. We enjoyed a couple of evenings playing both. There was also a freezer and a washing machine in the games room, we did not need these ourselves, but a useful addition nonetheless. It was super quiet and pitch black at night, which made for a great night's sleep, however we had a couple of motion sensor lights with us (random I know but had brought them to use as torches) which we placed in the hallway and shower room so we could see if we needed to get up in the night. The first couple of nights we had very wet and windy weather but we didn't notice any draughts and it was very cosy being inside with the elements raging outside. The village is only a few minutes walk, on a Thursday evening there is a mobile fish and chip van in the central car park, and our meal was delicious. The village shop is well stocked and we also enjoyed our purchases from there.

About the host

We have lived at Stewarts House running our cottages since 2000, having moved with our then young children from Sussex. It's a fantastic place to live and we feel privileged to be able to enjoy Cornwall through out all the seasons. We hope we can offer guests an unspoiled part of Cornwall that we never take for granted.

Why they chose this property

Stewarts House is our home and we welcome guests to share and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this hidden part of Cornwall. When we first viewed the house, we were struck by the far reaching views stretching out across the valley towards Bude Bay. It is stunning and visitors always stop to admire the panoramic view.
The cottages are situated in the grounds of our house and were converted from a stone built barn. Although we are in a rural village, we are fortunate to have a community run shop and post office and a community hall offering events and entertainment. There is a football pitch with local games and childrens play park with small skateboard ramp. The village was awarded Cornwall Village of the year 2009 by Calor Gas and has often been praised for its strong community spirit.

What makes this property unique

Stewarts House Holiday Cottages are only a 2 minutes walk from the village centre where you can buy all your provisions, especially freshly baked bread from our local baker and the daily newspaper. Taking a peaceful morning stroll to buy your breakfast provisions is all part of the fun. In the spring time, the hedgerows are alive with colour and we have dark skies at night with no light pollution. Our roads are quiet even in the high season period, you shouldn't get too caught up in the crowds and we are only a 10-15 minute drive to our local beaches. A friendly welcome and onsite help when needed, good accommodation ( to a three star standard), plenty of space, onsite parking, peace and tranquility are what we can offer at Stewarts House Holiday Cottage.
