Idyllic Spot - excellent accommodation

We had an excellent stay in Beech Lodge. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable with everything that we could possibly need. We didn't expect to be sitting outside in April but weather was so good we were able to do so every day, enjoying the peace and tranquillity on our terrace. The bike lockers were very useful and the owners couldn't have been more helpful both in terms of the lodge and also suggesting walks and cycle routes. We'll be back!

Stayed here 3 nights May bank holiday weekend. We was greeted with a nice warm welcome from the owners John and Sue.The accommodation is excellent with everything you need and is absolutely spotless,it is also set in beautiful surroundings with plenty to see and do in the area. For me,the jewel in the crown here is the fishing, you are spoiled for choice with six well stocked lakes to choose from, each one giving a different challenge.Looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely Lodge in Perfect Location

Stayed two night with friends who were there for the week. Such a lovely, spotlessly clean lodge. Nicely decorated and very well appointed. The setting was lovely and peaceful overlooking the fishing lakes. Great secure storage for all kinds of outdoor gear. The area itself is beautiful with some lovely cycling and want to be had. Managed to fit in a couple of the local pubs which were very welcoming, particularly to hungry cyclists looking for a lunch stop! Would definitely stay again.

A week at Woodfold

We arrived to warm welcome and a spotless cabin. The hosts we helpful and unobtrusive but on call is needed. Perfect arrangement. Every thing worked well though, so no need. The cabins are well positioned to catch the sun, so both eating indoors and out was a good option. The cabin was really well kitted-out. We arrived arrived with 2 bicycles as that was our first choice activity. (Travelers with bikes please note - the storage is brilliant - a private lock up that would fit four bikes and fishing tackle) I had never cycled in this area before - but will certainly do so again. Great road network, good choice of hills, and trough itself is a great ride. Some good lunches on route. We have too many hobbies though. We walked on the moors - fine walks and views - and I also squeezed a couple of days fishing in as well. Perfect. Will return.

Luxury amidst beautiful, unspoilt countryside and striing views

The lodge was easy to find with our sat nav but probably more challenging using a road atlas. The owner welcomed us and showed us over the property and explained the facilities and rules (very few of the latter!). Our lodge was one of three, facing one of the several fishing lakes that are main attractions of the property, and which are held to be a hidden gem by the region's keen anglers. Further afield was a superb view of the Lancashire countryside, with Snowden in the background. The interior of the lodge was beautifully decorated, with an aura that combined minimalism with comfort. Despite the winter's day outside, the lodge was warm and cosy, no doubt assisted by the triple-glazed windows, which not only kept in the heat but also, we were told, modified the volume of the dawn chorus in summer months, which could be deafening. Two good-sized, en-suite bedrooms, each with a generous flat screen TV, occupied the rear portion of the lodge, whilst the front part was an enormous living room, with extremely well-equipped kitchen area (every appliance that you could want), comfortable living area (with another large TV) and a fair-sized south-facing verandah, containing garden furniture and your own barbecue. The lodge was on the border of the Beacon Fell Country Park, the first of the Bowland fells travelling east from the Irish sea. The rewarding walk to the summit of Beacon Fell was not a gentle stroll, but nor was it mountain-climbing. From the summit, we were told that you can see the Isle of Man, 85 miles away; ours was not a clear day, unfortunately! The Green Man at Inglewhite is a friendly local pub, and for something more upmarket, the Inn at Whitewell is definitely worth a visit. On our last night it snowed, so we awoke to an even more beautiful sight. We hoped that we would be snowed in and have to stay another dy in our lovely, cosy lodge, but no such luck!
