About this property
Farmhouse on 150 acres, great family or hunters' getaway, 15 minutes from town!
Two-story 2,300-sq-ft farmhouse, 7 miles from downtown Mountain View, in a secluded setting on a working cattle farm. This property offers a unique opportunity for family groups, sportsmen, or nature lovers.
Included in your reservation is access to around 150 acres of private land right outside your door, including fields, woods, and creek. You have private access to a beautiful section of Tomahawk Creek, where you are welcome to fish, hike, kayak, and explore. Pets and ATVs welcome!!
This beautiful family home is decorated with an eclectic mix of antiques and contemporary decor. It sleeps up to 12 in beds, with two bathrooms, a large well-stocked kitchen, a 1-acre fenced yard surrounded by woods and cattle pasture, and expansive living areas inside and out.
Bedrooms (linens provided):
1 downstairs room with full bed and twin bed
1 upstairs room with queen bed and twin bed
2nd upstairs room with two twin-over-full bunk beds
2 roll-away beds and 4 camp cots also available in the house
Baths:
Downstairs bathroom features an antique claw-foot tub with handheld shower.
Upstairs bath has a conventional shower/tub combo.
Kitchen/cooking:
Kitchen table seats eight. Kitchen is stocked with dishes, all kinds of cookware, basic supplies like salt/pepper, flour, and sugar. A coffee station features a Keurig Duo, a selection of Keurig pods and ground coffee, powdered creamer, sugar, etc. There is a propane grill on the porch and picnic tables, and grill utensils and roasting sticks for the fire pit are provided.
Laundry:
Laundry room with full-size front loading washer and dryer.
A selection of paper products, trash bags, dish and laundry detergent, etc., is provided. Feel free to ask about specifics.
Other amenities:
WiFi is included, and there are TVs with Roku streaming in the living room, den, upstairs master bedroom, and small one in the bunk room. YouTube TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube are provided, or you are welcome to access your own accounts on these channels.
There is a large collection of books, family games and activities, card table set, fireplace in the living room, and pet accommodations.
For little ones:
High chair (stored in kitchen pantry) and playpen (stored in bunk room)
Child locks on all outside doors
Gates at top and bottom of the staircase
Lots of children's books, some games, coloring books, and crayons
Outdoors:
The house features a large wraparound porch with ample seating, a gas grill, fire pit in the back yard with firewood provided, and picnic tables on the porch and in the yard.
A map of the property is provided in the guest information book in the kitchen. The creek is located about a quarter mile from the house. In the summer it is suitable for swimming or wading, fishing, and kayaking (on a short stretch of creek). It has bass and perch. There are a few fishing poles at the house, but you would want to bring your own gear if you're serious about fishing. (There are some great fishing opportunities in the Mountain View area, on the White River and in Blanchard Spring Recreation Area.)
Kayaks and canoes are (USUALLY) available on the creek bank. Please check with the host in advance if you know you want to use them.
The water level and clarity of the water will vary depending on the time of year and weather.
You are invited to bring ATVs to ride. Shooting is also allowed. Please contact the host in advance about where to shoot.
Things to know:
The house is on a dirt road. Condition varies. It's always passable by car, but it can be bumpy or muddy at times. Some areas of the property may be accessible only by 4wd or on foot, especially during wet weather.
Cell service is spotty. AT&T works at the house, but service is not reliable as you get away from the house. You can drive along the road back toward town and pick up service in a mile or so. Other providers are worse. WiFi calling generally works at the house.
The house is wheelchair accessible via a ramp at the back door.
We offer guided hunting during deer and turkey season. This is booked separately, and hunting is not included with reservation of the house.
