About this property
Mosteirinho - Ninho, rustic Nest
Mosteirinho is our private little paradise near the small village of Negreda, in the mountains of northern Portugal, and "Ninho" ("Nest" in Portuguese) is a small self-contained rustic stone house recently renovated. It is one of only 5 stone houses in Mosteirinho, where peace and tranquility reign supreme, in the middle of nowhere yet close to many interesting sites.
The cozy house has a leaving room with a confortable sofabed and a kitchenette, a shower/WC, a veranda with fantastic views, and a mezzanine with a double bed.
It has airconditioning (hot/cold) and great open spaces to walk or just sit/lay down and relax.
Mosteirinho is a previleged place and "Ninho" is a cute little house for those seeking peace, rest and relaxation with a taste of a gone by era, within ancient stone walls, free to fly whenever it takes your fancy.
This is a remote place with no supermarkets nearby (25 minutes by car), but there are refrigerated trucks that come to Negreda/Celas selling basic products, including bakers selling fresh bread 4 times a week.
Ideal to use as a base to visit the various lakes with freshwater beaches, natural and historical sites and Spain is just a few miles away.

About the host

I love nature and the green mountains and blue skies of the largely undiscovered Northeast of Portugal. Come stay at my little haven and allow me to help you discover it.
Why they chose this property
This cute small house has a sitting room, with a mezzanine bed, bathroom and kitchenette. It also has a sofabed and fireplace with wood always available.
Plenty of fruit trees in the property’s land (apples, pears, plums, grapes, peaches, walnuts, chestnuts, etc). You’re more than welcome to help yourself.

What makes this property unique
No sign of urban sounds, no background noise. Pure air, amazing night skies, and open horizons next to the Serra de Nogueira.
It is approx. 2 hours from Porto or Valladolid Airports.
30 Mins from Bragança - with regular domestic flights to Lisbon and Algarve.
This area of Europe still belongs to another time, when you could leave the key on the door and your car unlocked - It is off the beaten track, and the small friendly towns nearby wait to be discovered by tourists.
The area is rich in culture and the scenery is amazing.
Peace and silence, ideal for resting and relaxing, or as a base to discover the picturesque towns/villages nearby (Mirandela, Vinhais, Bragança, Macedo de Cavaleiros, Chaves, Valpaços...), natural parks and protected forests, etc. This area is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Enjoy the cultural, flora and fauna diversity, including the Douro International Park, Montesinho, Sanabria and Arribas, the last two are in Spain.
Grape Harvest and wine making approx. end of September
Chestnut harvest in October/November
Wild mushrooms in abundance at the beginning of spring and Autumn.
The CARNIVAL with the CARETOS (Masked men) and the 1000 Devils festivals in February (aprox. 4 weeks before Easter) and Serra da Velha (2 weeks before Easter).
The spring is something unbelievable (May/June) with entire mountains in bloom.
Summer, especially July and August is Hot and time for sunbathing in the various excellent freshwater beaches of lakes and rivers. There are festivals and concerts everywhere, radical sports, and so much to do! Or you can choose to just do nothing and enjoy Peace, Tranquillity and Isolation, it’ up to you.
