Great House (Ty Mawr) is a beautifully restored Georgian town house with outdoor heated swimming pool (from May to end of Sept) set on the main street in Laugharne, the magical village made famous by Dylan Thomas, and more recently the BBC DRAMA "Keeping Faith". This very special and unique property is Grade 2 Listed, and it retains many historical architectural features with it's grand decor, extensive wood panelling, high ceilings embellished with decorative plasterwork and large sash windows.
As soon as you enter the back electric gate opening to the drive and garden you wont fail to be impressed. Next to the drive which accommodates 3 cars, lies the large lawn area with flagstone steps leading to a pool deck and terrace with a day bed and loungers alongside the outdoor heated pool. (available May to September. Can be extended by a few weeks upon request). Beyond the pool enter the old ruin to the main back door and further flagstone steps up to an upper dining terrace with large table and chairs and a BBQ, perfect for al fresco dining on a Summers evening.The garden is fully secure and very private surrounded by beautiful magnolia trees.
Enter the back door which leads directly into the spacious modern, fitted, kitchen with many mod cons including a large electric range style oven, a filter coffee machine as well as Nespresso, and caters for everything needed to prepare a large group meal. The open plan snug offers a Smart TV and this floor also has a WC and separate utility with washing machine and drier.
Up the original stone steps to the upper ground floor and enter the servants entrance to the formal dining room, rich in features and with an original dresser and large dining table with comfortable seating, perfect for celebratory dinner parties. The impressive hallway with its fine dog leg staircase will take you back in time to the grandeur of a bygone era yet modern conveniences add to your comfort. Two beautiful reception rooms, one with a wood burning stove give space to relax and unwind, or enjoy the large selection of books. Follow the beautiful staircase up to the second floor where you will find two majestic bedrooms that are sure to delight,both have their own impressive en suite with large roll-top baths, perfect for a relaxing soak after a busy day exploring.
Via an inner hallway and an additional staircase is the attic area nestled amongst the A-frame beams. This area boasts an open plan living area with ample comfortable seating and 39 inch TV with freeview and DVD player, alongside a recreational area with a large dining table that converts into a pool table, There is a semi open plan area with a Superking size double bed leading to a further twin bedroom with queen beds. Off the bedroom area is a bathroom with standalone bath to the centre of the room and enclosed WC. Please note:This floor is semi open plan with no full height walls apart from WC
