About this property
Pod Beag beside the sea, Isle of Eriskay
Pod Beag was Eriskay's first pod and therefore unique. It is seven years old, cosy with many good amenities all of which are described on this site. The pod is situated on the shore at Haun Bay with stunning views to Uist and Eriskay's hill Ben Scrien where you will find an abundance of wildlife, including the famous Eriskay pony. If you want to escape from the rigours of mainland life this is your haven, Haven incidentally being the Norse word for Haun. The Island has many Norse place names as the Viking influence pervades these Islands.
Eriskay is well- situated and has a causeway which links it to neighbouring Uist and the ferry terminal to Barra. It also boasts a well- stocked shop minutes from the pod as well as the Am Politician bar which serves tasty local seafood (please book ahead before you visit as it can get very busy). Enjoy the fresh air and walks on the Island's beaches especially Bonnie Prince Charlie's Bay. For a small island there is much historical interest to discover. Do come and experience these Islands with their distinctive language, culture and traditions. Guests should be mindful though of possible travel delays and sometimes inconveniences that can arise from visiting this isolated location. But the breathtaking scenery is always worth the visit. If you like adventure and spectacular landscapes then this is the place for you.

We enjoyed our first stay in a pod (it is amazing how much is fitted into a small space) which is in an excellent location looking out on a little inlet. There is a good shower and a comfortable bed. There was an issue with a small leak of the water heater but this was communicated to us before we arrived, and did not cause too much inconvenience. Morag was very helpful during our stay. Am Politician is an excellent pub with food but you need to book ahead.
I can’t say enough good things about our stay with Morag. The pod is very cute, comfortable and well equipped. Eriskay is beautiful. We unfortunately had car trouble— Morag was not only flexible about check out, but called around to help us find a mechanic.
Lovely pod on a quiet spot - hear the birds singing!
Lovely pod, cosy and on a lovely wee island. Five minutes walk from a white beach with aqua marine waters where Bonnie Prince Charlie first stepped ashore in Scotland. Also, place of the HM Politician sinking with hundreds of cases of booze being 'rescued' by locals and which spawned the Whisky Galore book (and film).
Comfortable , well situated pod in idyllic setting.
From our first communication with its host we knew that this short break was going to be special. Pod Beag is very well situated in a quiet setting just minutes walk from stunning white beaches , beautiful and interesting walks. The shop , also close by is very well stocked with everything you could need . We ate out at The Politition Restaurant and found the food tasty and reasonably priced . We cooked on the hob in the pod and ate dinner outside overlooking the bay . The pod was well insulated and always comfortable , even on chillier days . This was our first experience of glamping and was everything we hoped it would be .

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
The pod is quite old and in need of some upgrading/ decoration.. Fridge not working resulting in a small tabletop fridge being put in the pod. Unfortunately the weather was wet and cold so unable to make use of the outside space
This was our favourite stop on our Outer Hebrides holiday. A cute pod with a gorgeous waterfront outlook, nestled in the local community of Eriskay. Peace and serenity. Just bliss. We enjoyed wildlife watching and walking on the island. Great communication and help from Morag. Thank you for such a wonderful stay 🙏
