This elevated property sits 400 feet above the Golfo Dulce and surrounded by jungle, amazing wildlife and a stunning 180 degree views. Quietly situated just a few minutes outside the main town of Pavones, it is easily accessible from the main road. Just two kilometers away, going to the north, is one of the longest sand beaches in Costa Rica. To the south, you will find the 2nd longest left hand surf breaks in the world.
This secure, private, two bedroom home has all the modern conveniences. It is fully furnished with a fully equipped kitchen, front and back outdoor living spaces and an outdoor kitchen with gas grill smoker and pizza oven. Both bedrooms have connected private baths and the home comfortably sleeps six. Take a walk through this working farm including an orchard of tropical fruit trees, coffee plants, displays of jungle flora, and the organic greenhouse and herb garden. Cool off in the outdoor shower while the monkeys, parrots, and toucans play in the palms above. The house has hot water, a/c, ceiling fans and is fully screened so you can take advantage of the tropical breezes unique to this area.

Great place to get away from it all!

Love this place! Clean,beautifully furnished in a tropical paradise. Great views cool breezes and amazing sunsets. We couldnt have been more pleased. The hosts are very friendly and informative. Beaches near by,you have pretty much to yourselves during the summer months. If your looking for a great rental away from all the tourists,priced right and comfortable,this is it. We will be back! Costarican Paradise

Mike and Elizabeth's home exceeded all of our expectation. The house itself was well appointed and comfortable. The AC was cold the view of the coastline breathtaking and who doesn't like to have monkeys in your back yard. The house sits on a quiet mountaintop which is easily accessible. Mike has created a jungle paradise with well maintained trial that he is happy to show you. They both could not be more welcoming and his knowledge of the areas flora and fauna is amazing. They hosted my family for a pizza party, told us where to surf and were there when we needed anything. I can not recommend this stay enough. If your travels find you in CR please make sure to include this jungle paradise in your stay.

Epic Jungle Farm Paradise with ocean views and waves

This place is a must stay on your Costa Rica adventure! Michael and Elizabeth go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, comfortable and relaxed. Plus their over 15 years living in the area make them fabulous tour guides, so you can make the best of all the local beauty, sights, culture and food. We even did a pizza night with them while watching sunset at their outdoor kitchen / bar / pizza oven - yummmm! Michael took us for a walk around the gorgeous farm to see the exotic landscape, fruit trees, monkeys and waterfalls ~ oh my! Close to various super fun surf waves and empty tropical beaches. The place is super clean, well stocked, spacious, kid friendly, nice green lawn, lots of seating, hammocks and a gorgeous ocean view. Don’t miss it ;)

Best Family Vacation Ever!

After a month of searching for just the right place for my small family to vacation, we decided on Paraiso de Miguel. It was the best choice we made! The views from your private porch are a spectacular sight capturing the Pacific Ocean and all the Gulfo Dulce. The sunsets were rich in color and never missed. The house had all the amenities one could ask for and the host Michael was very insightful about the area and made sure anything we needed was taken care of. We saw Toucans, White faced monkeys, a Sloth, and an astounding assortment of birds often on the property! Jungle life surrounds this perch, but has the beach close by as well making one truly feel La Pura Vida! I give this property a 5 star rating, and plan on returning as often as possible to enjoy such a beautiful place with waves, views, jungle, and great people! RYNO-Realize Your Natural Obsession

We're still waiting for our security deposit We were disappointed that we could not contact our families over Christmas due to the Wi Fi being down. Having Wi Fi was a big consideration of ours when deciding on accommodation. The listingl advertised bicycle/surfboard/snorkle etc. usage but they were not made available and no info posted on how to access them. It was described as a Pavones listing but was much further away from what is commonly considered Pavones (Rio Claro), not a "few minutes". It was also a lot further from the beach than was advertised

Paraiso en Pavones

This beautiful property sits high above the ocean offering expansive views and exquisite sunsets. The house is spacious, the furniture is comfortable, the relationship of the indoor and outdoor spaces work well, the kitchen has the necessities to cook efficiently and the house and grounds are very clean. All of this in a very remote area which makes it all the more remarkable. Mike and Elizabeth are good people with kind and generous hearts. They know the area very well and can arrange all of your adventures including those you have not even thought of! Don't be afraid to ask questions. The price is very fair for the home as are the costs of the local activities. It is a twenty minute drive in a 4x4 to the closest surfing beaches yet so worth it. And finally, if you want to experience Paraiso en Pavones, book now before someone else does. You will be glad you did!

Living Costa Rica

Not knowing much about Costa Rica and all it has to offer I looked to vrbo.com for insight and options of beautiful locations during the busy holiday season. Through my extensive research I discovered Paraiso DE Miguel in Pavones. The listing was 100% accurate. Beautiful views, nature all over, home beautifully maintained and decorated. If you want to cook at home versus grilling you may have to purchase spices (they are limited to salt and pepper and lime- although most of the food really only requires these) or ask your host to borrow. They do offer purchasing groceries for you before hand for a small fee plus cost of groceries. The rooms spacious and very clean. Location was easy to access local town and beaches. Pavones is mostly rocky roads so be sure to rent a 4x4. Our host Michael went above and beyond to make sure we experienced the beauty of Pavones and Zancudo. From private atv tours to setting up a fantastic zip lining excursion, to grilling that days fresh catch Michael made sure we experienced Pura Vida in this part of Costa Rica, which is 17 miles from Panama, all at very fair prices. Pavones is very rural, there are many Sodas (sodas are privately owned locations sometimes someone's home where the owner actually cooks each meal from scratch from the days fresh ingredients)to enjoy. Soda gaby was delicious as was soda criolla. The markets are small and limited in offerings do not expect US style super markets here you will be disappointed. No nightlife. This town is about enjoying hiking, surfing, swimming. There are no bars and nightclubs. Golfito has a bit more of action but not much. Be sure to go zip lining, take the atv tour, go on hike through the jungles of Golfito. Feel what it is like living in Costa Rica. It will an adventure holiday you will never forget!

Wonderful time

Great time. Wonderful hosts. Suggestions: Fix microwave, somehow modify the lighting in the kitchen. Very dim for a kitchen. I am use to having some spices maybe (left overs from previous renters) for cooking, salt, pepper etc. Maybe with the high humidity that would not work here in CR. Refrigerator and freezer lights were burned out. The filtered and bottled water was very nice. Toilet valve must be partially clogged because it never quite shut off. We were somewhat taken back when we drove up and saw that the house was a basically a duplex. Not knowing this up front may make some people upset. We were cool with it because we enjoyed talking with you and Lizy and learning more about the area. I also understand the marketing side of things but if I had know that we were 30 minutes (at the speed I drive these roads) from Pavones I would have tried to find something closer. After staying in something closer I might however opt for you home because of the view, cool breeze and wonderful people. Not sure I would have used the outdoor shower but having the motor in the way pretty much convinced me not to use it. I'd suggest finding some way to keep the guest side of the property truly for the guests, at least prior to arrival. i.e. car/truck, boat motor etc. If you can find the heavy duty retractable screen doors what would be great for the bedroom and living room. During the summer I assume that northwest bedroom gets pretty warm and we were not willing to keep the door open due to Denise's fear of snakes, out dogs and bugs. The web site showed the wall paintings that I assumed had just been covered over but the girls said that those painting were on your side of the duplex. Just to prevent disappointments, I'd suggest updating the VRBO photos to show the true rental vs. any combination of both that may exist today. With all this said, we'd stay again. Wonderdul property in a wonderful part of the country!

So I've been coming down to CR for many many years and have been to some great spots throughout the country. Pavones is one area I hadn't been so on this trip we came across Michael and Lizzie's place on their farm. Nowadays when travelling we usually find the area we like and narrow the houses down and always look to see what people say about the hosts. More often than not great hosts not only make your trip better than it would have been but also become friends (if you are into that) if you let them, and end up being people you stay in touch with later in life. Well this property checked off both boxes and we couldn't have had a better time in Pilon/Pavones. Surf was great, company at the house great, and had a great day hanging with Michael and locals after renting a boat for the day and getting the guided tour to ring in the new year! Pizza night is just as everyone says in reviews, you can't miss it, and the outdoor bar/kitchen at sunset is worth the price for admission alone. Thanks guys for everything, we only hope one day we get to return the favor! Pura vida!

Paraiso de Miguel is a fabulous place for a tropical vacation in the Pavones area .

The four of us , two couples , spent 10 days at Paraiso De Miguel . It was a fantastic vacation. The house is nicely laid out with two good size bedrooms each with there own bathrooms a great front and back patio and a kitchen with everything that you need . The jungle is all around the house with Toucans and Monkeys visiting regularly. But what made It a fantastic vacation was the host Micheal and Lizzie . Michael has great knowledge of the area and helped us planning and booking all the activities that we want to experience. Michael organized a trip to the Corcovado wilderness park , a trip to the wildlife rescue park that included snorkelling and a boat trip , a fishing trip ( we got mackerel and bonita tuna which we had for dinner along with Chicken kabobs that Lizzie prepared ) ,horse back riding , ATV rentals , Kayaking trip and which restaurants have the best food . Lizzie gave us great massages and cooked up some fantastic Pizzas when we had pizza night and the second dinner where we had Chicken kabobs.. we had fresh eggs from the chicken coop daily and fresh squeezed orange juice from the orange trees on the property. Michael came with us on several of our trips and basically functioned as a guide. Paraiso de Miguel is a great property in a unique and beautiful location but what made it so special and unforgettable is the effort , the extra work and attention that we got from Michael and Lizzie, it made a great trip in to a unforgettable experience.

Perfect Costa Rican experience!

I booked this home after being drawn to the photos and reviews of other guests. I really knew nothing about the area and didn’t know what to expect. WOW! It turned out to be possibly the best vacation we have had together as a family! Michael and Elizabeth have created such a welcoming environment in one of the most beautiful areas of Costa Rica. The home was spacious, clean, full of beautiful local art and woodwork, and lovely views from each room. The landscaping and gardens are amazing- wonderful flowers, birds, fruits, and herbs. I noticed something new and beautiful each time I stepped outside. In addition to creating such a perfect spot, Michael and Elizabeth were outstanding hosts. Their hospitality was above and beyond any expectations! Michael arranged several adventures for our family and accompanied us on a fantastic trip to the wildlife preserve, snorkeling, an amazing lunch near Golfito, and a boat ride through the mangroves. He shared so much information with us and gave us so much insight into the local people and culture. Our experience in Costa Rica was enhanced greatly by having someone with us that lives in the area and has such a great love and appreciation for it. We are so grateful for all that that they shared with us! Their kindness and consideration was superb. They both considered the needs of all of our family, including our three middle school boys, and truly wanted to make sure we each had a great vacation. More highlights that shouldn’t be missed include horseback riding, a delicious and fun pizza night, Elizabeth’s incredible and relaxing massages, beach time in Zancudo, fresh eggs and fruit in the mornings, monkeys and toucans on the property, sweet greetings from their awesome dog, Paulie, and beautiful mornings and evenings on the porch. Our family cannot wait to return to repeat this amazing experience! The only thing I would want to change is adding more days to our stay in this wonderful spot!

Beautiful Views and gracious host

This was the first time my husband and I ventured this far south in Costa Rica. So glad we did. The condo we rented immediately felt like home. Michael was a great host assisting us with anything we needed: where to eat, what to do, how to do it. One of a kind experience!

If you are traveling to Pavones, this is by far the most amazing place to stay. Not only does the property itself exceed expectations, the owners made this a truly one of a kind experience. The home itself is spacious, comfortable, and set up with everything you’d need for a night or a month! The grounds are impressive to say the least! Views of the jungle and coastline, wildlife at your doorstep, and a safe and secure location. The owners were beyond gracious and welcoming, providing so much information and help. They are well known in the community and we definitely got a much more thorough understanding of the area’s history than we would’ve without their insight. I wish we could’ve only stayed longer! My husband and I stayed here for a week in February 2018. It was our first trip to Costa Rica and we were not disappointed!!! We give this place 5 stars as it exceeded our expectations. Mike and Lizzy were wonderful hosts. Their love for their property, community and each other shine through. The views from the property are breathtaking. During our stay I saw 4 different types of monkeys, a sloth , many different beautiful birds an eel, many tropical fish and dolphins! We went to a wildlife refuge and saw many animals and birds there as well. We went on an ATV ride for the day which was a blast. The boat ride day was also fantastic. Mike and Lizzy provided us with coffee, fresh fruit from their farm banana bread and muffins every morning. They made a wonderful seafood dinner for us in their outdoor kitchen. Pizza night was memorable. I also booked a reki treatment with Lizzie which was great. I will always remember the beautiful sunsets complete with the sounds of the jungle ! Pura Vida! My husband and I stayed here for a week in February 2018. It was our first trip to Costa Rica and we were not disappointed! We give this place 5 stars as it exceeded our expectations. Mike and Lizzy were wonderful hosts! Their love for their property, community and each other shines through. The views from the property are breathtaking! During our stay I saw 4 different types of monkeys, a sloth, many different beautiful birds, including Toucans and Parrots, an eel, many tropical fish and dolphins! We went on an ATV ride with Michael where I got to go tide pooling and swim in a river with small waterfalls in it. Boat day was a blast! We went to a wildlife refuge and saw many animals and birds. A highlight was seeing dolphins! Every morning , Mike and Lizzy provided us with coffee, fresh fruit from their property, banana bread and muffins. They were all delicious! They made a wonderful seafood dinner for us in their outdoor kitchen. Pizza night was memorable! I also booked a Reiki treatment with Lizzie which was great. Awesome view and Comfortable in every way

The drive to the Pavones area and the lovely Paraiso de Miguel is not what it once was according to the owners who shared some accounts from days gone by which included fords and ferries and very rough roads. Now all you need is a vehicle with good clearance and to sit back and enjoy good roads and the lovely rural Costa Rican countryside. Our hosts were super hospitable, starting each day with delicious fruit from their homestead and specially made gluten free treats for DJ...very thoughtful. Also helping to get us up to speed was the local coffee...the best I have had. The house is roomy and comfortable with all the comforts of home and plenty of solar heated hot water. The duplex is surrounded by gardens, fruit trees, and sounds of the jungle. The photo on this page doesn't do justice to the view of Golfo Dulce down below. It is a daily treat from the comfortable patio. We were blessed with help from our hosts in setting up a boat trip and an island meal, along with a horseback ride on the beach on the gentlest animals. These were made possible by Michael's local connections and his Spanish. It never would've happened without him. Elizabeth's massage skills are excellent and helped me to relax from active days which included walks on the beach and swimming in the Gulf and Rio Claro nearby. The whole experience was the kind I enjoy most where one gets to appreciate the local culture while falling back on comforts of home when returning from an active day. Local restaurants in Pavon were excellent and cheap. Be sure to try patacones and the fish. We would return in a heartbeat and are forever grateful for the kindness and hospitality of Elizabeth & Michael.

All I expected and so much more! Highly recommend this vacation home!

Michael and Elizabeth are wonderful and helpful hosts even before you arrive. Any questions I had were answered promptly and with even more information than I thought to ask. The home and the grounds are so relaxing and comfortable it was hard to tear myself away to see more of the country. Michael and Elizabeth had many great suggestions for places to tour and were very helpful with any directions we needed. Being able to access organic locally grown produce on their grounds or from their neighbors was a big bonus. I loved learning more about permaculture from what they are doing on their property. A Fantastic and Genuine Costa Rica Experience!

What a wonderful experience starting with the owners Mike and Lizzy. Super generous and considerate. They understandably love there home and community which is evident in every aspect of your stay. The property is immaculate and tastefully done with breathtaking views of the ocean. Monkeys, tropical birds, every fruit tree you can imagine. Oh yeah, just a few minutes from multiple super high quality waves if that's you thing. Perfect for a romantic getaway or an unforgettable family vacation. I've been traveling to this area for years. The vibe makes it, you wont find a better spot!

LOVE staying here!

We stay here every time we go to the Pavones area. Absolutely dream about this place. Amazing views, beautiful property with immaculately kept gardens. We love collecting fresh chicken eggs, and fresh spinach from the garden too! A short drive to great waves, and the best hospitality you could wish for. I would highly recommend it and shout it to the hills... but then where would we stay next time?! Best kept secret.

A MUST!! Awe Inspiring-Exhilarating-Relaxing!

Above and beyond what is advertised. I don't have enough space or words to describe the beauty, the people, the surroundings, the hosts and the accommodations. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the resident monkeys! During my stay, I saw probably about 12 different species of birds, including Macaws and Toucans. Walking in to the house felt like arriving home. It had all the accouterments one could ever need. Even a zester! Two porches, one where I could see the sometimes up to 15 monkeys and the other, ocean view and the mountains of the Osa Peninsula. The surroundings of the house are full of beauty and all kinds of fruit and vegetables to make meals. Chickens will provide fresh eggs! I had fresh fish almost every day and an incredible pizza dinner in the outdoor kitchen oven. This is where I spent my mornings with coffee, monkeys, birds, nature and amazing views. You couldn't ask for better hosts in Mike and Lizzie. Their love for each other, the place and the people shines through. Their willingness to share history, the community and culture made the experience that much richer. I experienced hiking, waterfalls, riding on quads, maybe my favorite, they arranged for awesome zip lining in Golfito and I have the best reiki and thai massage I have had. That should be a must on your list..book a session with Lizzie! They also arranged for horse back riding on the beach! Again, I just don't have the right words to convey this experience as a holistic epic winner! Ineffable. Please feel free to contact me for in detail experiences!
