We are less than a mile from Arroyo Grande's Village and just minutes more west or east to the ocean or mountains & lakes. A quick drive through Edna Valley's famous wineries puts you in San Luis Obispo with its trendy restaurants, boutique-style shops & lively college-town atmosphere. Driving 1-1/2 hrs south, you reach Santa Barbara with its equally fashionable atmosphere.
Owl Ridge offers guests a bucolic, relaxed setting inside & out. The single-level, cozy "ranchette" has a modern country charm with wood plank flooring throughout, vaulted ceilings in most rooms, skylights, abundant windows with breathtaking views, and an open concept kitchen / living / dining room area. A wood-burning fireplace and 60" Smart TV round out the main living space. A separate office / sitting room with Smart TV (and more breathtaking views outdoors) offers a private spot for remote learning / working or privately streaming your favorite show!
Because Owl Ridge Oasis is our primary residence, it is fully-equipped inside & out with all you will need to make your stay comfortable and secure. As you would expect, it also contains some large-size heirloom pieces of furniture difficult to remove during visits. These sentimental treasures are of great value to us which is why the refundable damage deposit is set higher and the listing clearly states this property is not suitable for anyone under 18 yrs old. We simply ask guests enjoying their time at Owl Ridge to respect our home as if it were their own!
We have two loyal Labs (they travel with us), so are fine with guests bringing along their own pooch (max. 2.) Before final booking confirmation, age, breed, size and other important factors need to be pre-approved. *** Out of respect to other guests as well as our family members with allergies, cats cannot be considered. Please note the listed pet fee is for ONE dog. For 2 dogs, the fee is doubled.
Owl Ridge's simple ranch-style home is situated on a quiet, short private road. The property is best suited for 1-2 couples, an adult girlfriends' or guys' getaway, a family of adults, or other mature guests who enjoy the rustic peacefulness of country living not found in city or suburban areas. The rural and secluded setting offers an escape from hectic big city life. It's a quiet retreat where you can relax, unwind and sleep soundly after a busy day of adventuring!
There are 5 necessities travelers look for most -- a clean dwelling, comfy beds, luxurious linens, good coffee and an accommodating host -- all of which you will find at Owl Ridge. The MBR, with its Swedish king-size "Duxiana" bed, also has a small en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. Large double-hung windows and a French door leading outdoors offer peaceful views of the oak tree canopy. The guest BR has its own bathroom across the hallway. It also has a double-hung window and French door leading out to an inviting expansive outdoor living space.
The large entry room offers an optimal "formal" dining space with antique harvest table & chairs for celebrating a special occasion or holiday in style. The airy, bright open room has been a great spot for previous guests to work remotely, as well as socialize while enjoying a complimentary bottle of local wine.
If you are looking for real r-e-l-a-x-a-t-i-o-n, this room is also an excellent space for a luxurious full-body massage (in the privacy of your home away from home) with one of the experienced local therapists. A visit to one of our area's excellent restaurants and / or a soothing soak in the outdoor hot tub afterwards, are perfect ways to end your day...
Owl Ridge's outdoor features include a Jacuzzi brand hot tub positioned directly under the open skies with optimal star gazing (NO city light interference!), 2 Weber BBQ’s (charcoal and gas), several tables & seating for "al fresco" dining, as well as a large fire pit with a few nights of complimentary firewood. The front & back patios, facing west & east respectively, provide great dining spots also for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine with bird entertainment from the strategically-placed feeders & baths. You may even want to grab the binoculars and bird chart to identify what species you are viewing.
Surrounding the fenced property are old shady oaks, open fields with natural grassland and expansive, unobstructed views of the countryside hills. All of this is accompanied by the peaceful sounds of nature & pastoral setting found in country living! Guests who decide NOT to use the hot tub during their stay, need to let us know this before booking so the spa technician fee can be removed from their costs.
PLEASE NOTE: depending on the time you stay, the spring grasses (in photos) are lush green during our wet months, but dry out by spring. This area in general is also home to a prolific gopher population! The wonderful trade-off for keeping with the natural landscape (our surrounding acreage is not finely "manicured!") are regular visits from nature's little friends -- plentiful song birds, rabbits, gophers, frogs, quail, turkeys, hawks... and of course, OWLS!
