Second visit to Pier cottage

This was the Second visit to Pier Cottage and felt its was not the same I did feel mad when I got there. As the boundary has been moved and lost a lot of the decking area that we had last year. We should have been told about this beforehand as they need to update photos of the place now. The decking needs to be redone as some of the post are lose and some of the floor decking is starting to rot. I would also get rid of the sky tv as I feel it’s a waste of time and is better having a smart tv that is connected to the WiFi as people of today have there own accounts they can use for the likes of Amazon Netflix and Apple . Was told that there are new owners of the property and are going to renew the sofas and tvs and outside furniture. I would also consider to remove the tree in front of the sitting area as if eating food no one want leaves falling into there food because the decking area is made smaller. Also the way to get down to the water front needs to be improved as it can be tricky if you are carrying a kayak as there no steps. Other than that the place was great you could not ask for more.

Fabulous cottage looking out onto the Loch. It has everything you need including a Sky package. The views from inside and on its own decking are fantastic

Lovely cottage shame about lack of amenities offered

Lovely cottage and outlook. Unfortunately the Sky services as advertised were not available. Not informed about this prior to visit. Disappointing hence customer service score.

Our stay at Pier Cottage

Once again, Pier Cottage did not disappoint. We have stayed in a few of the cottages now and more than once, with no reason to complain about anything! We love it. Our stay was fantastic. Luxury on the banks of Loch Lomond. What more does one need?

Fantastic short break

Fantastic cottage right on Loch Lomond. Some building work next door but that wasn’t really a problem. Weather was awful but what a lovely place to be stuck in

Fabulous Couple of Nights

Booked a few nights at short notice. Totally happy with everything from pre-arrival info to cleanliness and facilities provided. Auchenheglish provided so much as standard , full pint of milk, loaf of bread, wine , cleaning products, range of cutlery etc. my only downside was the older sky set up with no smart TV but the WiFi was brilliant .

Relaxing Weekend

Once again just returned from another relaxing weekend at Auchenheglish, and my wife and I can’t stress enough how much we love these cottages. Beautiful views, relaxing setting and great to see more being developed at site, can’t wait to experience them when they’re finished. 10/10

Wonderful stay in Pier cottage

The view from Pier Cottage is wonderful and the weather was a fantastic mix of all sorts of different events from glorious sunshine double rainbows and a choppy Loch which was very spectacular. There is plenty of nearby viewpoints and great walks to visit.

Just perfect!

This was the 4th time we have stayed at Pier Cottage and we are hoping to make that a 5th time later in the year. Whilst the cottage isn't perfect.... a new sofa is a must, the location and views are difficult to beat. It is the perfect place to recharge your batteries. The cottage is warm, cosy and has the best shower! We cannot wait to return.

Nice place.

The cottage has excellent view of Loch Lomond, which is only a couple of meters away. I did not realise how close it is to the very busy A road, with entry via a hazardous junction and the constant drone of traffic noise. You also have to go down a flight of steps to the entrance, which may not be convenient for people with limited mobility or a lot of luggage to carry. Steps and deck were a bit slippery and would benefit from winter maintenance to avoid that. Heating was not on when we arrived, and the clock on the boiler needed resetting. Wendy offered to come round straight away to sort that out, but we did manage to reset the clock and get the heating on ourselves. Advertised as a luxury cottage, I had expected complimentary toiletries, which were not provided, so had to go out for basics. A hairdryer was provided, but there was no plug socket near a mirror. There was no direct access to the shore, despite it being so close. A few steps from the outside deck down to the shingle would have been nice and made it easier to launch our kayak. The nearby pier looked like a launch point for motor boats - thankfully there were no motor boats there at the time of our stay. All in all, the cottage itself was very nice, but other details would make me think twice about a second visit. Would I recommend? Possibly, depending on the requirements and expectations of the visitors.

Observations of Pier Cottage

The view from Pier Cottage is second to none. The cottage is very well equipped and has everything needed (and more) for a holiday for two people. The booking process was easy, and the instructions on arrival for the location of the keys and the cottage was very clearly explained. We felt that the gated access needs some attention, as the second gate did not lock, or close properly. Also, the two sofas were very well-worn with flattened seats. The cleanliness was very good, but only rated a four due to the cobwebs in the bathroom.

One week stay at Pier Cottage

Let us start by saying the cottage is in a beautiful location and this is the third time we have stayed in this property. We found the customer service from Liz, Wendy and the team was excellent, so thank you all very much. Unfortunately, we do have to report that the two sofas and scatter cushions are really tired and uncomfortable to sit and relax on in the evening, it would also be good to have up to date Sky Tv, the bed and pillows are both terribly lumpy and really not comfortable to sleep on. The outside of the property is a mess, with slimy and slippery stairs that lead down to the slimy and slippery deck area which hosts a filthy table and chairs. We do have to say that there is a sign to highlight the slippery stairs, but that does not deal with the problem. Hopefully the owners of the property take on board our constructive criticism and replace what is needed inside and clean up and make safe the outside. However, we do love holidaying on Loch Lomond.

Pier cottage

Lovely cosy little cottage this was our second visit in 6 years. Do think perhaps the sofas and mattress could be renewed but would return again.

Can't wait to come back!

We have stayed at Pier Cottage twice this year and both times have been very reluctant to leave. The location and accommodation are perfect. Stunning views to wake up to and sitting on the deck watching the Loch is very de-stressing. Can't wait to return.

Cottage lovely/outside needs attention

Lovely cottage with fantastic views over loch and beyond, everything you would possibly need for your stay. The outside space was a little unkept and could do with a tidy up, but other than that lovely.

Beautiful cottage but outside needs attention

Overall our holiday was very enjoyable. The cottage was exceptionally well equipped. The ever changing view was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the world go by. Internally my comments would be that the bed was too low and that the quality of towels should be upgraded for 5 star accommodation. The complimentary food parcel was very nice but 4 butter sachets(and not a tub!) Externally, the garden and private beach frontage need considerable work to make it safe. Access to the beach is unacceptable. The steps leading down to the cottage are slippery and worn. The fencing surrounding the property is also very rickety!

A great location and very nice property but with shortcomings

A great location and very nice property. However there is step on the timber decking which could do with some yellow tape along the edge. It is a trip hazard. It advertises a full SKY package but the package is about 10 years out of date. We had trouble switching between the television and the DVD player. Trying to get down to the loch is precarious as there is no path although it is advertised as a private beach it is not secluded. Climbing over chain fences and concrete walls should not be the way to get to shore of the loch.

Love Auchenheglish

Myself and my partner have stayed in Auchenheglish lodges on numerous holidays and we love it. The lodges are spotless and have had a refurb. There are 2 things that let it down “slightly” and they are a new double bed or mattress and the suite needs reupholstered, it is a good quality suite and will last even longer with the attention it needs. Other than that I will be back if I can get booked, it’s always busy because it’s so nice. The price is reasonable as well, and there is always a welcome pack. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. 9.5/10 Love Auchenheglish

Loch side cottage with stunning views.

The setting of Pier Cottage is stunning. We arrived as planned following the detailed instructions for keys etc.Walked along a short fenced path and opened a gate to see a wonderful decking area overlooking the Loch. The cottage has a very comfortable lounge area with large windows again overlooking the loch. So stunning views whatever the weather. Cottage was very comfortable, very clean and there was a welcome pack that was very welcome. There was a problem with the heating, but there was an alternative neater and Liz from “ Auchenheglish Lodges” worked very hard to have the problem fixed and gave a partial refund without any request from us. All in all a great few days, brilliant accomadation, within easy reach of many attractions, walking distance to town and restaurants, and a peaceful place to sit and chill out.

Perfect location

We had a great stay at the Pier Cottage. We were lucky with the weather which meant we were able to take our kayak out on the loch and then relax on the decking. I don’t think it’s possible to be closer to the water without being in a boat. The cottage is really really comfortable and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday.
