We had very nice time in the peaceful west barn.
Would highly recommend a stay in Finlaystone estate. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the holiday chalet very clean with good facilities.
Myself partner an dog stayed weekend absolutely loved it, loved the barn was so cosy the whole place was spotless, without a doubt we will be back very soon
Property was clean, and fit for purpose. Beautiful woodland walks and gardens. Great retreat, but we were ther midweek, I can imagine it being a lot busier at weekends. We loved it.
Lovely stay in the heart of a fabulous country park
The best thing about this stay is the location inside a country park which after 5pm when the day visitors have gone, becomes your own faboulous waterfall filled back garden. Flat is wram and clean with nice touches, although the image does suggest a flat with floor to ceiling windows. East barn is a loft apartment, with only velux windows in the vaulted roof. The flat is positioned over a car port. It was still delightful but we were expecting a more traditional room with windows in the walls.
From the rotting mat covered in moss at the bottom of the entrance steps up to the door of the barn, to the rickety cutlery draw cupboard this barn is not luxury anymore. The room was functional and furniture was comfortable. Kitchen had nowhere to put anything as all cupboards full and worktop space covered with equipment. The crockery and cutlery supplied were meagre, just three of everything which meant when using cutlery etc to prepare food, constantly having to wash items. The location is brilliant set in beautiful woodlands with plenty lovely walks.

Lovely surroundings, dog and family friendly. We had a great stay!
We visited Finlaystone Barn for our summer holiday. It is well presented & comfortable & has adequate facilities.
The location is good to use as a base & we crossed the Clyde to go a bit further afield.
It’s easy to find but the arrival instructions could be a bit better. Take the turn when you see the sign for the Finlaystone Estate, don’t rely on the postcode as it takes you past the entrance.
We’d recommend & stay again if in the area.
Just perfect for us whilst visiting family in Glasgow with our 2 dogs.
Great place to stay

Very pretty gardens, very friendly help. Drains don’t run properly inside, and animals were clanking in garbage bins in night. But generally a very nice place to stay.
East Barn had everything we needed for our stay.Well equipped ,spacious and so cosy. Set in glorious woodland with fabulous walks and the gardens were beautiful. Finlaystone Barns are perfectly placed for travel but the setting is very peaceful and serene. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again .
Property ideal for a short weekend visit to family in Glasgow. Clean and well equipped in beautiful surroundings but close to Glasgow. Would recommend.
Hi, we stayed for 3 nights in the east barn which has a wood burning stove, once going the stove heated the barn quickly and was very pleasant to sit and read by. The duvet was a bit lumpy and heavy. The state itself is beautiful and once the borders are in flower will look incedible. Plenty of walks for our four dogs and much exploring in the woods.
Very much enjoyed our stay, busy with visitors during the day but not a problem, after 5.00pm all is very quiet

About the host
Hosted by Arthur MacMillan
I own and run Finlaystone Estate which has been in the family 140 years and is the base of the Clan MacMillan of which my father is the chief. My wife and I opened two smaller barns 5 years ago and they have been very popular so we have opened a slightly larger one in the same building.
Why they chose this property
When designing the building I based it round an oak frame because it provides a lovely atmosphere and enables one to create warm open spaces. It is enhanced by the imaginative way my wife has decorated and furnished it. Being a new building it is well insulated.
What makes this property unique
Guests have many reasons to visit this area of Scotland and find the Estate an unusual and welcoming base for their stay. We are set in a rural location but very close to Glasgow, the airport and the motorway so getting around the area is very easy.
