* Beautiful and stylish 3-bedroom apartment in the heart of Les Houches.
* 2 bathrooms (1 en suite).
* Lovely and light open-plan kitchen/diner/living space with balcony.
* Fully equipped kitchen with coffee machine and dishwasher.
* Spectacular 22sq. foot terrace with sitting area, dining area, barbeque and stunning views of Mont Blanc.
* Private parking space.
* Two minutes to bus stop for transport to Bellevue and Prarion cable cars and central Chamonix.

A stylish, modern apartment sleeping up to six adults, located on the first floor of a lovingly restored traditional French building. Easily accessible up a single flight of the communal spiral staircase, it has been thoughtfully designed around a central corridor that runs the length of the apartment, and boasts wooden flooring, doors and shutters throughout.

At the far end of this corridor is the light and airy open-plan kitchen/diner/living room, with a small balcony overlooking the Les Houches ski domain. In the living area, stylish yet comfortable leather furniture and a wall-mounted wide-screen smart TV with Netflix create a great space for relaxing. The kitchen/dining area at the other end of the room is equipped with everything you need for your stay, including a large fridge-freezer, full-size cooker with electric ceramic hob and oven, microwave and coffee machine.

Also at the far end of the corridor is the master bedroom with en-suite shower room, and a roomy storage room for hanging clothes, storing bags etc.

Further down the corridor is the second double bedroom, located opposite the family bathroom, complete with both full sized bath and shower.

At the near end of the corridor is the third bedroom: a small bunk room with adult sized single-bed bunks which can comfortably sleep two adults (Please note - the ceiling height can be a little tight on the top bunk, depending on your height!).

From the bunk room, you can access the spectacular 22sq.ft. terrace, with comfortable seating, dining space and a barbeque, where you can dine al fresco or just sit back, relax and soak up the stunning views of the Mont Blanc.

The apartment is located two minutes away from the Le Tourchet/Griaz bus stop, for regular buses to the Bellevue cable car (5 minutes) and Prarion telecabine (9 minutes), and for buses to central Chamonix (15 minutes). Here at the bus stop you will also find the beginners learner slope and patinoire (ice-rink).

GUEST ACCESS
Guests access the apartment through a communal main door and staircase and then they have sole, private use of the self contained apartment and roof terrace and balcony.

GUEST INTERACTION
Your host will welcome you when you arrive and answer any questions you may have about the apartment, the area and your stay here. If you encounter problems during your stay, she is always there to help, as she lives locally in Les Houches. This availability is very reassuring for our guests who are very satisfied with this set up.

Shopping:
There is a Super U supermarket to the left, and a Carrefour supermarket to the right. They both have a fresh meat and cheese counter and some great wines and breads. The Carrefour is open 8-8 every day except Sunday when it shuts at 1pm. (It reopens from 4-8 on a Sunday in peak season.) It is just behind the tourist office. Here you will also find a bank, post office, doctors, pharmacy and the boulangerie, who also makes chocolate. You can find an organic supermarket just along the road, left from the apartment.

Eating:
Just across the road at the base of the Tourchet Piste and the Patinoire (ice rink) is a new ‘brewpub’ the Solery Smokehouse with a changing menu and lovely artisan beers brewed on the premises.
Further along the road there is an English/South African run restaurant, Le Delice,
which has a great interesting menu, and a happy hour at 5:30.
Opposite Le Delice is a takeaway Pizza place, delicious, thin crust pizzas but only open from 6 - 9.30.
Le Chavanne in the centre of the village, is a typical French restaurant. It has a small menu written on boards around the room, and it does a good ‘menu du midi’ each day (12-13:30) with a starter, main course and dessert for around 14€. A good place to enjoy a pitcher of cold beer.
Opposite this is a wine bar, which offers some interesting salads and cheese and meat boards, and showcases local artists works.
Further into Les Houches down by the Bellevue lift you will find a Savoyard French restaurant and Le Basillica, a friendly family run restaurant, offering some typical and more unusual French food. The kitsch Inn is just behind the telecabine building and is an English run bar, with typical English food and plenty of Apres-ski entertainment.
In the opposite direction is an Indian restaurant, Gandhi, which offer an amazing lunch time menu for 10,00€ - You won’t need to eat dinner later that day.

GETTING AROUND:
If you turn right out of the apartment you will see the bus stops are just a moment away at the base of the Tourchet Piste. From here you can take buses for both Les Houches and Chamonix. A local train station is just a few minutes’ walk away which runs down to Saint Gervais les Bains and up to Vallorcine and into Switzerland.

There is a learner slope (le Tourchet) just a minutes walk from the apartment. To access the Bellevue and Prarion lifts up to the main ski area of Les Houches, there is a bus stop just outside. Plenty of buses run in the winter (normally about 4 an hour) and they are free with your ski pass or Carte d'Hote. These buses also take you to the other slopes in the Chamonix Valley, as well as the gondola up to the Aiguille de Midi, Mont Blanc and the mountain train to the Mer de Glace. All ski-slope car parks are free except the Brevent car park in central Chamonix. A local train station is just a 10 minute walk away which runs down to Saint Gervais les Bains and up into Switzerland One hour drive from Geneva Airport and plenty of transfer services.

SKIING
Les Houches sits at the foot of Mont Blanc, and from the summit of the ski area you will be thrilled by a 360° view of the surrounding area The ski area of Les Houches extends from an altitude of 950m to 1900m. From the summit one has a spectacular 360° view of the Mont-Blanc massive, and with 55 km of slopes meandering through the forests, you will discover the real pleasures of skiing. The international reputation of Les Houches is built on the World Cup downhill piste "la Verte", but the resort is also an ideal terrain for learners, particularly with the new beginners' area, at the top of Prarion. The forest trails are a delight for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. ESF hold the ‘Piou Piou’ lessons for little ones near the lake, and there is also a beginners area opposite the apartment. When needed, artificial snow coverage is assured by more than 120 snow maker machines, positioned throughout the pistes of Les Houches. As well as down hill skiing and snowboarding, in Les Houches and of course the rest of the Chamonix Valley, there are Nordic Ski paths where you can discover winter nature in all it's beauty, on cross-country pistes 'Ski de Fond' and snowshoe paths 'raquettes'. Les Houches offers 2 Nordic Ski trails: Les Chavants offers free access to cross country skiers combining snow fields and forests, and the trails of the Prarion require a lift pass as they are at high altitude.
