About this property

"Garden At Eden" Located In Historic Thousand Island Park On Wellesley Island

This is a quaint two bedroom cottage located in Thousand Island Park, which is historic private community on the far West end of Wellesley Island. The Island is nine miles long and four miles wide, nestled along the Canadian border. It is accessible via suspension bridge to both the US and Canada.

Thousand Island Park is on the national registry of historical places, so it looks much the same as it did when it was established back in 1875. Visiting the Park is like stepping back in time, both the architecture and the way of life is reminiscent of a time gone by.

This was, and still is, largely a pedestrian community where all are within easy walking distance of the common facilities: dock, beach, playground, corner soda fountain, Restaurant, Library. Today golf carts are often used, few cars and absence of through traffic make the Park very kid-friendly. Activities include daily supervised youth activities, church services, tennis courts, kayak rentals, basketball, movies and also community activities like ice cream socials and band concerts. You will find the community and its residents very friendly and inviting.

Wellesley Island is located in the heart of the Thousand Island region with many local attractions close by. The Island is located between Clayton and Alexandria Bay with a multitude of dinning and sight seeing opportunities. While in the area a must see is the historic bold castle, which is accessible by several sightseeing boat lines out of Alexandria bay.

The cottage is very cozy and the screened in porch seats seven people. There are two bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. It is on a double corner lot so there is plenty of room for outdoor activities. The cottage has been in my family for six generations and I have had the same "great" neighbors for over forty years.

Beautiful and Comfy!
What a wonderful bungalow! The 3 of us so enjoyed the property the moment we stepped foot inside. The screened porch is lovely, the living space is just the perfect size, bed rooms worked out perfectly for us and the kitchen was very well equipped. The location could not have been better, just a short walk down to the river and that wonderful breeze kept us cool too. I will be back! The property owner was a pleasure to deal with as well. Thousand Island Park is so idyllic, Can't wait for our next trip.

The Little Cottage That Has It All
Everything about our week in this cottage was amazing! Perfect location, friendly owner, very clean and well stocked. Our week started with Jim greeting us with homemade brownies for my husband and myself, and a freshly filled water bowl for our little dog. All the extra amenities made this property one of my favorite VRBO/HomeAway rentals ever: ceiling fans in the master bedroom and the kitchen; automatic hand soap dispensers at all the sinks; hot/cold water cooler with additional water bottles provided; Keurig coffee maker with a large selection of pods; and even AC window units (which are rarely needed at TIP). I think our dog, James Dean, had the best vacation out of the three of us. And being able to bring him with us for the week made our time even more enjoyable. We would absolutely rent this property again. Thanks for such a wonderful week full of great memories!

Classic summer place in the Thousand Islands!
We were so fortunate to enjoy a stay at Jim's charming family cottage of more than 80 years. We felt immediately comfortable and welcome here. Jim is a great host in all respects. The cottage is extremely well maintained and spotlessly clean--everything works. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything needed for memorable family meals. I especially loved time spent on the spacious screened porch and the very comfortable master bed. Thousand Island Park is amazing---a classic summer place of one hundred years ago that survives and flourishes intact. Come here to relax and enjoy a traditional summer sojourn!
