Come and enjoy our very special part of Norfolk. Horsey is one of the most important wildlife spots in East Anglia, not only for its incredible seal colony on Horsey Beach, but also if you are a keen birdwatcher. ‘Horsey’ is where it all began for the 'european cranes' remarkable return to the UK. These majestic birds settled and bred here for the first time in the UK in almost 400 years. Many other species of birds thrive here and one wonderful way of seeing all the wildlife is on Ross's Wildlife Boat trip on Horsey Mere on the Norfolk Broads (April - Oct).
Enjoy the magic of being on the Norfolk Broads. Head off kayaking, sailing or motor boating on a nearby Broad.
Climb to the top of Horsey's National Trust wind pump and see the wonderful views across Horsey Mere.
Visit Poppyland's Dads Army themed café, The Nelson Head and The National Trust Tea Room (Apr - Oct) all in Horsey!
Just up the road is Sea Palling’s Blue Flag beach where you might even be tempted to try out the surf. Plenty of beaches to choose from up and down the coast.
Curlew Cottage is the perfect base for exploring Norfolk’s beautiful coast as well as The Broads with the added bonus of seeing lots of seals just an easy walk from the cottage.

Wonderfullly close to both beach and local pub. Beautiful horsey beach full of seal colonies. Great base from which to explore the norfolk coast. Cottage very clean and well equipped.
We had a great stay in Horsey. The cottage had everything we needed, our dog loved playing in the garden and the location was perfect for getting to some beautiful beaches, pubs and shopping. We especially loved seeing the seals. Suzanna was really helpful and everyone at the Nelson Head pub was really friendly too. We’ll be back!
Lovely cottage in a lovely quiet location, with super local pub within walking distance. I would certainly recommend it to anyone, and stop there again in a heartbeat 👍👍
What a lovely location, a lot of nature around & lots of peacock butterflies in the garden, lovely walks. Rural location near to good pub, accommodation modern, bedrooms all comfy, nice walk to beach & lovely world war cafe tearoom up the road called poppy land.just be careful pulling out of drive as fast moving tractors etc.
Our second time at the lovely Curlew Cottage and it was just as fabulous as the first!
Everything you could possibly need for a home away from home.
Bed was so comfy!
Can’t fault this place. Lovely walk to the beach and hardly any other humans on it….just shared with hundreds of seals!
Garden is perfect too! Did not want to leave!
Perfect place to enjoy the peace and quiet of beautiful Horsey. Well-equipped, stylish, comfortable cottage with good-sized enclosed garden, outdoor seating and BBQ. Excellent location near welcoming pub and lovely walk to beach to see amazing grey seals.
A wonderful socially-distanced holiday!
The property is a short lovely walk away from an amazing beach which was full of seals! What a treat! There is a nice pub on your doorstep but other than that you need to use your car to go to coffee shops etc so a real get away from it all type of place❤️ it was clean and had everything you may need. The only thing which spoiled our stay was a Neighbour opposite has a dog which barks all the time so did affect our peace whilst sitting in the garden but if that sort of thing doesn’t bother you then a perfect place to stay👍
We very much enjoyed our stay at Curlew Cottage. The property was very clean and had everything we needed for a 3 night stay - we treated ourselves and didn't do any cooking bar toast in the morning! Suzanna provided thorough directions to how to get there and responded and resolved very quickly to a problem we encountered. The location is great - about 20min walk to beautiful beach with seals (depending on time of year, I believe). Popped into the Nelson Head on our way back for a hearty dinner and then just a few strides back to the cottage. Suntrap of a garden and spent a few hours there reading in the March sunshine. A wonderful place all round! Thank you!
Curlew Cottage was spotlessly clean ready for our stay, it was absolutely perfect, everything you could possibly need for a holiday near the beach.
The bed in the master bedroom was so comfy too!
The location was great for us, it was a short 15 min walk to the beach, the beach was empty as you can’t park at the beach entrance closest to the cottage, the only way is to walk there ….from the cottage only 1 min down the lane and then on paths with no vehicle access! Lots of wildlife birds and deer to spot en route.
The private garden at the cottage was perfect for our dogs, very safe and secure.
The shower was very powerful so it was great after a day hiking.
We highly recommend this place, we genuinely could not fault it! Loved every minute at this beautiful cottage.
Curlew cottage is part of the old Horsey post office, but inside you would never know you are in an old building, with the inside decor being thoroughly modern. The cottage was spotless when we arrived.
The cottage is well equiped for a family of 4 and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom is large and has both a bath and a walkin shower. The cottage has a large enclosed garden to the rear with garden furniture.
Horsey is a relatively remote location - I wouldn't recommend staying in the cottage without a car. The village pub is two minutes down the road and does simple but tasty food. The beach, complete with seal coloney is about 15 mins walk off road and the Horsey wind pump is about the same round the lane.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - communication with the owner was fast and efficient.
Curlew cottage makes a good base to explore the Norfolk coast and broads.
The cottage has everything you need and more. Spotlessly clean and fully equipped to a high standard. A huge garden with table and chairs to soak up the sun(if it shines) and a clean charcoal BBQ. Unfortunately for us the weather wasn’t great, but our dog loved the garden! Pub next door and beach down a ‘traffic free’ lane. Would definitely recommend
Fantastic stay at Curlew Cottage. Great location - Waking distance to the beach, seals and walking tracks. Very clean cottage and well equipped. Would thoroughly recommend.
The perfect cottage in a beautiful area, With everything you could possibly need to make your stay great, close to beach and seals and the the Nelson Head Pub With very friendly staff and also serves excellent food
We stayed a week in September in Curlew Cottage and it really was just right in every way. It’s very clean and comfortable and is well equipped. The garden is lovely and even the two sun loungers were comfy. The location is excellent with lots of walks right from the door. We hardly moved the car. Obviously the seals are an extra plus!
Communication with the owner is very easy and the welcome pack was a lovely touch.
A very enjoyable stay. The cottage has been refurbished to a high standard and was very comfortable. There is a lovely sandy beach a 15 minute walk away and you will see lots of seals!
This is a truly special place. The location is perfect: close to a magical beach, next door to a cosy pub and numerous opportunities for marvelous country side walks - all in a secluded village which is yet to be "discovered". The property itself is spotless with no attention spared to detail. Finally and most important - the owner is one of the most conscientious, pleasant and responsive people you would ever meet. I would this place six stars if I could.

If you want to find it for peace of mind before booking Curlew Cottage or want to book it instead, do try by typing in 'Horsey' and have a look at the reviews. Why they chose this property
Perfect for a quiet getaway or a family holiday. It is in a great location - a lovely walk to the beach past the pub and then along a country path to a beautiful sandy beach. We are so lucky to be surrounded by such a wild and beautiful landscape - with both the Sea and the Broads on our doorstep.
What makes this property unique
Having both the Sea and the Broads on our doorstep. The iconic National Trust wind pump. Horsey's extremely rare European Cranes made their home here. The beautiful unspoilt coastline. Miles and miles of dunes and sandy beach. Horsey Mere - one of the quietest of all the Norfolk Broads - so a wildlife haven. For a small village, it is lucky to have a pub, a Dad's Army themed café, a tea room, a large beach carpark and a wildlife boat trip. AND ... Horsey's incredible wildlife and seal colony - seals can be spotted all year round.
