About this property
Red Stag Chalet
Red Stag and An Caisteal are Portnellan's premier 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom, 5 star chalets which have been built adjacent to one another and specifically as holiday accommodation on the Portnellan Estate.
Both chalets are a mirror image and are spread over 2 floors and spanning nearly 210m2 these magnificent chalets are perfect for all group sizes up to 8 people.
From a private car park located beside the chalet the entrance is served by a ramp with Italian tiles leading to a triple glazed entrance door. Step into the chalet and the entrance hallway has a utility room off with separate washing machine and tumble dryer. Making your way through the ground floor hallway leads to 3 incredibly spacious bedrooms with ensuite facilities.
The master bedroom is furnished with a super king size bed, bedside tables with reading lights, USB ample wardrobe space and vanity area. Leading from the bedroom is a large fully tiled ensuite bathroom with shower over jacuzzi bath. The bedroom is provided with two leather arm chairs with coffee table and incredible triple glazed floor to ceiling windows allow you either to sit or lie in bed in comfort and solitude whilst you enjoy the stunning views over the cascading Ben More burn waterfall which flows immediately outside.
Further down the hallway are two more extensive sized bedrooms again with ample wardrobe space and vanity area, one twin with two single beds and one king size double both with shower rooms.
All beds and mattresses are hotel grade with 2000 spring, pocket sprung with Cashmere top laid with 100% goose down Messentex duvets and pillows (non allergenic man made fabric duvets and pillows can be provided upon request) Egyptian cotton bed linen, soft towels, bath robes, slippers and eye mask.
All floors downstairs are heated with thermostat controls in each room for total control on the ambient temperature within the bedroom giving you the perfect room temperature for a great nights sleep. All windows are triple glazed and the comfort of the chalet is enhanced even more by a fully controllable 'Nibe' central heating system and hot water system that is supplied by an air source heat pump and controlled by a digital thermostat.
Upstairs is connected by either a hand made Beech wood stairway or for anyone who would rather not tackle the stairs, there is an internal elevator.
Located off the upstairs hallway is both the fourth bedroom consisting of a king size double bed and ensuite shower room.
The open plan living, dining and kitchen area are also located off the upstairs hallway. Walk through to this incredibly spacious and extremely comfortable room and you will be stopped in your tracks by this wonderful living space. A bespoke slate black Ashley Ann kitchen with solid 'Silastone' granite worktop and all modern conveniences. Twin kitchen sinks with boiling water 'Quokker' tap and a slate black dining table that can seat 10 people comfortably. The area flows through in a 'L' shaped form to a living area with two individual seating areas. One area is furnished with sofas surrounding a 65" LED SMART TV with full online facilities and Blu Ray DVD while the other area is made comfortable by being focused around a glass frontage wood burning stove and large patio door and window where you will gaze with astonishment at how magical the unrestricted view is up the iconic mountain of Ben More, over the cascading mountain burn waterfall, Glen Dochart and the spectacular and dramatic mountains that rise up from the chalet.
All furnishings and interior design has been commissioned and installed by the award winning furniture company "BoConcept" with a Scandinavian theme throughout.
The Portnellan Estate has been privately owned by the same family for nearly 40 years and offers fantastic facilities including fresh run wild salmon and trout fishing on the estate lochs and river, mountain bikes with plenty of trails on and off road for all abilities, a games room with table tennis, table football, pool table and a small gym. Canadian canoes, kayaks and rowing boats are free to use on the river and loch. Clay pigeon shooting can also be arranged.
Portnellan Estate is the perfect base for exploring Central/West Scotland with known landmarks only a short distance away. Oban 45 minutes, Stirling, Fort William and Glasgow just over 1 hour and Edinburgh a 90 min drive. Glen Coe and all it beholds is less than 40 mins drive and the bonnie shores of Loch Lomond are 20 mins by car. Other areas include the truly beautiful Glen Lyon and Loch Tay, Glen Etive, Glen Lochay and Glen Orchy all within the local area.
Whether you are looking for the adrenaline rush of adventure or lazy days on your doorstep, out and about on the many hills in the local area or exploring one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, Portnellan Estate and Pinemarten offers you the warmest of welcomes upon your return.
This beautiful accommodation is available for short breaks, weeks or longer.
"A really great base for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland, and lots to keep the family occupied, from canoes and bikes, to games and DVD's. Lodge very clean, well maintained and equipped, and with plenty of its own space. The loch and mountain views, the peace and restfulness of the place, even the purity of the tap water, all make you want to stay. Review posted 13th August."
"My daughter rented two cottages at Portnellan for the celebration of her 21st birthday. We had no idea what to expect before we arrived, and we had travelled from the United States to attend her birthday. The magic of Portnellan added to the magic of seeing my daughter turn 21. What a beautiful location, and the cottages were lovely vacation homes with everything we could need."
"Everyone had a terrific time, the young ones and us old-timers! Thank you to the gracious staff (namely Cameron's family.) You made us feel welcome and made her celebration a delight!"
"I highly recommend these cottages for anyone who loves a magical place to sleep and roam in one of the most magical places I've ever been! Review posted 14th August."
"Outstanding as usual. A warm welcome from Cameron and family. Spotlessly clean lodge , stunning scenery and great touring base. Would recommend this to anyone looking for luxury self catering in Scotland. Review posted 12th August"
