Charming & Private Delaware Riverfront Home near Callicoon NY

Within 15 miles of charming Callicoon on the Delaware sits this totally private, tastefully furnished, renovated home with a fireplace/insert in the living room, a modern kitchen and a dining area with gorgeous river views! Windows provide great natural light and river views from porches and windows.

There are three bedrooms, one with a king size bed and two with a queen size bed each, plus a fourth room which owners now use as a TV/reading room with a comfortable day bed. Two full baths and a gorgeous outdoor patio/deck under great shade trees round out the picture.

Enjoy the Delaware River at your door step to swim, kayak, or fish. Don't forget to pack your life jackets for river activities. We do not provide boats or any other water apparatus, and recreation is at your own risk. There is a river outfitter in Hancock where you can rent kayaks and canoes.

A small convenience store is just a few miles away, and a short drive will take you to either Callicoon or Hancock for shopping, restaurants, library and movie theaters.

*****We offer a 10% discount if you stay for 7 nights. While we do not want your dog to have to go to a kennel and encourage you to bring the pup along, cleaning the house requires more time. The cleaning fee increases by $30.*****

Visit the Callicoon Farmer's Market year-round on Sundays, 11-2pm at Callicoon Creek Park and stock up on fresh produce, fruits, breads, pastries, and cheeses. The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the original site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival is just a 30 minute drive away. Or play a round of golf at the Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon or at the French Woods Golf Course less than a mile away on Route 97. Take a ride on The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway, which is Route 97, as it extends from Hancock to Port Jervis, and visit the Roebling Bridge and other historic places and museums along the way. Or spend an afternoon with a river guide and learn how to fly fish. There are nice hiking opportunities nearby. Get ready for the most striking views of the Delaware River Valley from famous Jensen's Ledges.

Summer camps such as French Woods Camp, IHC Camp, Camp Equinunk, Camp Blue Ridge, Tyler Hill Camp and others in northern Wayne County, are all within 5-10 miles or less, as is the lovely wedding venue, Handsome Hollow, on quaint Delaware Route 28 outside of Fishs Eddy, NY.

Great location

This is a quaint house right on the river. The host is great and responds immediately. Unfortunately we had a storm that caused a power outage for 24 hours, but we made the best of it. We would definitely stay there again.

Peaceful getaway with the most amazing view!

Tubing and swimming with your pups right in the backyard with the most beautiful view, you can’t beat that! We loved our stay! Rosie and Joe are awesome and go above and beyond, we came home to a lovely surprise of baked goods! They also have the most comfortable beds, we all slept so good. We will be back for sure

Beautiful river cottage

This was our third stay here and it was just a great time with the family. Enjoyed seeing the wildlife, especially the bald eagles and river otters. We will definitely return.

River Stay

This was our second time staying as a group of fly fisherman and once again it was excellent. Great view of the river, plenty of room for the boat and just above Buckingham boat launch. Joe and Rosie are very responsive and located nearby if anything is needed. We’ve stayed in a number of river rentals up and down the East Coast from Vermont to North Carolina and this house and hosts rank among the very best.

The RIVER is wonderful!

If you love nature... this is the place for you... got in the river eveyday - paddle board, kayak, just swimming - water is very shallow by the house - so it was so easy to just get in. Everyday we were immersed in nature... bald eagles everywhere/ beavers/fawns..always something to see... the best was watching the fog lift off the water and over teh mountain every morning - really a great getaway!

Great Delaware House

Lovely getaway house on the upper delaware river. Rustic and private with plenty of space for everyone. Delaware is your backyard and we brought tubes and had a blast. The owner Joe is super friendly and will go out of his way for you. Even brought us yummy pies! Highly recommend!

Joe's place is a great getaway

This was our second stay at Joe's house, we love the setting, the fireplace, and the options to poke around Callicoon and Honesdale. Our pups appreciated the fenced in yard and the geese to bark at. Recommend the general store, the Catskill Provisions distillery in Callicoon for cocktails, and a walk around Honesdale if it's on your way in or out. Also appreciate that the kitchen is well stocked with essentials and the general store is just down the street. Looking forward to our next stay!

Must needed rest & relaxation!

It rained most of our stay, but with the windows on the river, it didn’t matter. We sat, read & watched the birds & eagles all day. We took a few beautiful drives & really fell in love with the area. Joe was very responsive to a small issue w/ the grill & even welcomed us w/ ice cream & milk. Our stay was perfect & just what the doctor ordered :-)

Simply beautiful.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful riverside cottage. Just what we were looking for. Seems newly renovated with a modern and open floor plan allowing for great views of the Delaware river. The bedrooms are quite charming with views of the river as well. The kitchen is well stocked. The deck is amazing with rocking chairs and a hammock which was perfect for taking in the spectacular views. We loved it so much, plans are in the works to return in the summer.

lovely house, beautiful vistas of the Delaware

We stayed here while visiting French Woods Festival of the Arts Camp. We had five adults and one child in the house and it was comfortable for all. The full kitchen was a plus. The deck and views were fantastic. When we had a small problem, the owners responded quickly and resolved the problem. The only thing that could have been better, and it is a small matter, is that it would have helped to have a second key for the house, or a digital lock, so that people could come and go separately.

Tranquility

A place to decompress and be away from the bustle of city living. Comfortable, clean and just enough rustic for us. The view is amazing from most of the house. Our sons caught decent size fishes. Will be back. Be careful walking on Hancock Hwy. Neighbors do not have dogs on leashes.

Nicest host ever!

We stayed for 4 nights in early spring. The cabin has the best backyard view we have ever seen. The Delaware river is your backyard! I cant even begin to describe how wonderful it is to wake up to the river view. The cabin has everything you will need to cook either inside or out. Our favorite feature was the fireplace. We would put a fire on and play board games. You do have limited WiFi. We loved it. A true break away from it all. The host (Joe) went out of his way to make us welcome. He dropped off a wonderful breakfast to us on our second to last night. It was amazing. We had a historic ice storm come through on our initial night. The electricity and water went out. Joe (the host), went out of his way to find us rooms for the night and even had them include the dog in the reservation. We ended up staying at the property and having a fun night in front of the fire watching a movie on one cell phone. The next day Joe checked on us and called the electric company with a time line. Electric was back on by noon and on with the vacation! He really went out of his way for us. None of that was his fault, yet he bent over backwards for us. When he asked how the fishing was going, he invited us to fish at his stocked pond. Turned out to be our favorite day. He has multiple properties and a new glamping site. Truly wonderful properties and the stocked ponds are on these sites! Check them out. We are already planning a return trip. Highly recommend!
