About the host
Hosted by Jon Boothe

We have been married over 30 years now and our children aren't little any more. We live in the city, but our real love is the open spaces. We enjoy everything about the kayaking, fishing or just pulling up on a sandbar and spending the day. Although Sam loves the outdoors, she does not like to "camp" and the cabin reflects her has all of the comforts you can wish for...
Why they chose this property
When our children were small we had a small cabin on the Boat Basin in this time. We spent as much time as possible there and many of our best memories are those where we were swam off sandbars, fished and enjoyed the wildlife.. There was an old dilapidated farmhouse on the bluff at the edge of town where we would park to look over the river. We liked the property so much that we started writing the owner in 2004 to see if he would that time, his dream was the same as ours..... return to build a new home there. Regardless, I wrote him for several years in hope he would change his mind. During 2014 I attempted to reach him again and found he had passed away and his children had the property. We were very fortunate they were willing to sell it to us. We drew up plans of our dream home and spent the next two years planning and finally building. We can now sit on the porch or in the hot tub and look out on the most incredible of views. This is really a magical place.
What makes this property unique
We love to watch the wildlife from the house. Many times there are deer on the river islands. There isn't a day that goes by that eagles and many other birds fly right in front of us. The house sits approximately a mile from the state park and golf course. The state park has a fish cleaning station, a dock to fish from and two boat launches.
