About this property
Norwood Park Country House
Norwood Park is an exclusive private country estate in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. Today, we find the House restored to its original grandeur while dramatically fusing the styles of the old with the new. Our sweeping staircases, elegant rooms, gorgeous grounds, sumptuous bar, and more than a few hints of eccentric whimsy throughout, make Norwood Park a unique and cherished Country House Home.
The space Norwood Park is normally booked out over summer with wedding parties. However, as a result of the current restrictions on weddings, we find our diary has been emptied for the first time since we started hosting events twenty years ago. At this point, we are only releasing the months of July and August for booking, although some weeks in early September may become available too.
While we are new to Airbnb, you can find reviews for Norwood Park Country House on Google - just look us up!
Introduction With a luxurious yet distinctive interior that showcases the families 150+ years of residence, this 18th-century self-catering country house oozes historical charm in abundance. Set amidst acres of grounds that feature lakes, a lawned tennis court, cricket pitch, and public golf course; a stay at Norwood Park promises a getaway less than ordinary. Exuding characterful appeal, original windows, expansive rooms, and ornate detailing throughout, Norwood Park accommodates 26 guests within the Main House and West Wing, affording an idyllic backdrop for celebratory escapes with indulgence at the fore, perfect for family-led forays and well-being retreat breaks and visits to the popular town of Southwell.
Inside There’s a clear Georgian flavour to the interiors of Norwood Park, with heavy crystal chandeliers, original portraits and velvet sofas exuding a laid-back opulence. Key design pieces sit alongside rooms designed for togetherness; think languid breakfasts in the orangery, games room gatherings and card playing evenings amidst grandiose décor. There’s also space for self if a little 'you time' is desired; from the zen Orangery to book reading with a garden view. Designed with relaxation in mind, Norwood Park boasts 12 large bedrooms. Each bedroom hosts a distinctive look and feel, from carved four-poster beds to spacious suites replete with a gold emperor bed.
Outside With an abundance of al fresco activities in which to immerse yourself, you're unlikely to venture too far afield when you take exclusive hire of Norwood Park. Complete with a lake, golf course, and cricket ground, summer days can be spent in a hive of activity or a languid leisurely state. Keen horticulturalists will love the resident oak trees, weeping willows and blooms of rhododendron. While children explore the secret gardens, apple orchards or Grecian Temple on the Hill, parents can fire up the bbq or simply make the most of the peace and quiet from your garden vantage point.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms In Norwood Park, there 12 bedrooms, 11 of which have ensuites and the 12th bedroom has a bathroom across the corridor. All beds are either King, Super King, Emperor or Singles. All bedrooms and suites have either an ensuite or private bathroom with walk-in showers. There are three downstairs WC's.
Communal Inside Space With a huge Dining Room (seating 26), Drawing Room and Morning Room there is plenty of space for guests to come together or separate into different groups. With the added benefit of the Bramley Bar and adjacent Arches, sharing a post-dinner drink has never felt more decadent. The tastefully designed Orangery is a lovely space to enjoy the sun, while the large combined Kitchen Diner, with AGA and gas hob offers cooks the chance to get creative, with or without an audience.
Guest access Your booking at Norwood Park is exclusive and you will be the only group staying on site. Some bedrooms (not listed here) and the Gallery (where we hold wedding receptions) will all be closed and locked for the duration of your stay. The commercial kitchen will also be locked, although should you book private catered dining via our onsite Manager, this is the kitchen they will use and not the domestic kitchen you will be occupying. Should your group be larger than 26, we can discuss opening up additional bedrooms for a further charge.
