About the host
Hosted by Carol
Carol and Don are a retired couple, doing something they have always wanted to do. Carol, originally from the Eastern Cape has experience as a professional chef, and Don, the outdoor type, ex Zimbabwe, could spend everyday hiking somewhere and enjoys introducing guests to the nature he understands
Why they chose this property
We bought this property to experience the Walker Bay view and the mountains beyond, everyday, and are blown away by the changing light, sea conditions, cloud formations, sunsets and experiencing the early evenings and stars with a glass of wine. Each day has something new to offer. This is our pleasure - to introduce guests to this experience. It is something that one can never tire of.
What makes this property unique
The southern right whale is the special visitor to Walker bay, from July through to November. As with nature, nothing is predictable, but normally we watch, daily, their activities, and hear them through the night. New born, like lambs gamboling, and mothers mothering, and spending hours, meters off the rocks because of the depth of the water, almost as if they are watching us with as much interest. On a whale watching cruise, the hump backed whale is also seen, as are seals and sea birds. A few kilometers down the road is Kleinbaai, the hub of shark cage diving, an on going activity, but mainly through the same period as the whale watching. We can advise guests on the various options and make reservations for them
