About this property

Romantic Four Poster Bed Room on Somerset Levels

This romantic room is in our Grade II listed Farmhouse and features Georgian casement windows overlooking the garden.

*** Due to Covid this room is ONLY bookable if you are fully vaccinated against Covid as we have a vulnerable family member in our household.***

This room is the only accommodation we now offer in the Farmhouse itself and is on the first floor. It is a lovely light and spacious room, decorated in calming blues and white with an extremely comfortable four poster bed. If you want to watch a bit of TV you can do so on the 32 inch flat screen TV/DVD player, two comfy chairs provided. Convenient low level touch lighting is right on your bedside table for those who prefer a good book instead! A complementary beverage tray is provided.

The en-suite is spacious (1 step up) and is the only en-suite we offer that has both bath and a large walk in shower. The double basin is a nice little touch with decorative lighting, and WC. We provide premium toiletries for your use whilst you are here.

Dogs are NOT permitted in this room.

Going forward we have looked closely at how we will be running the B&B. From a Covid point of view, most guests still prefer us to not go into their rooms during their stay. In order for us to keep prices fair we have kept our nightly room rate the same with no Housekeeping. If guests would like Housekeeping to service their room during their stay this can be prebooked at the cost of £10 per service. Stays of over 4 nights will automatically be offered a complementary room Service as standard.
Our seasonal licensed Tea Room serves delicious home-baked goodies and beverages. We also offer our BBQ Hut for private hire in the evenings, which would be a memorable experience for guests staying at Double-Gate Farm.

The farmhouse's ground floor areas are wheelchair accessible, and the Master en-suite is on the first floor. Our Riverside Rooms are all located on the ground floor, extra large, and have a patio facing south over the river, ceiling fans, refrigeration, and super big wet rooms. They are ideal for couples, families, and groups with flexible and spacious options.

We have additional cottage-style en-suite rooms located in Swallow Barn, including cosy doubles and an accessible ground-floor twin. Although Swallow Barn is no longer inspected by Visit England Assessment Services for B&B purposes, our other B&B accommodations remain in the scheme. It is still inspected by the AA for B&B and Self-Catering purposes to ensure that it remains at a high standard.

If you plan to holiday with your dog, kindly call us before booking to confirm the availability of our two dog-friendly rooms. We do not allow pets in rooms that are not designated as pet-friendly.

Stayed before and would definitely return, couldn’t fault it.
All of it, room, staff, food and a pub next door. What’s not to like.

A wonderfully warm welcome after a long journey with a superb cream tea
We had a room in the main house which was very comfortable with plenty of storage and a cracking view across the Somerset levels. A huge en-suite bathroom to rival the best hotels and a good breakfast to start the day.

Friendly, regarding hosts in a beautiful atmosphere. An advisable traditional English B&B in the best sense of the word. Delicious breakfast. We have been there for the 4th time and definitely will come back.

Lovely stay
We stayed in a double room in the Farmhouse for one night. Found the room very comfortable with a lovely view over the garden area. Made to feel very welcome with tea and home made cake on arrival.

Hello everyone,

We are a family-owned Bed and Breakfast with seasonal Tea Rooms situated in the heart of the Somerset Levels. Our establishment is small and friendly, and we take pride in ensuring that our guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

My husband Steve and I have three young boys who are passionate about cricket. During the summer months, they can often be seen rushing off to training or a match in their cricket whites. I enjoy reading and spending a few moments in our beautiful garden during the summer.

Our family loves meeting new people, and we especially enjoy welcoming other families to stay with us. We guarantee that you will not leave Double-Gate with an empty stomach! Our breakfasts are quite popular, and our home-cooked meals and the Afternoon Tea, which is our speciality and is served in our Tea Rooms, are absolutely delicious.

When you arrive, we'll greet you with a cup of tea and some cake to sample. We kindly ask that you arrive by 6pm if you would like to enjoy this treat.

We can't wait to meet you!

Debbie and Family
