About this property
Ground Floor Twin En-Suite Room
Welcome to our twin bedded room in Swallow Barn at Double-Gate Farm.
This is a spacious ground floor twin bedded room decorated in a classic and calming duck egg blue and cream. Both beds have nice, deep mattresses. Adjust the heating to it where you want it - and snuggle into our all seasons duvet - not too hot, not too cold. Additionally there are plenty of spare blankets and throws available if you really want to snuggle up.
Flat screen Smart TV's with capability to log into your own Streaming accounts. Low level touch lighting by each bed. If you fancy a cuppa there is a complementary beverage tray with various teas, coffees hot chocolate and biscuits available for you. If you want something a little more decadent our very own Tea Rooms is just a few steps away where you can enjoy barista made coffees, tea and homemade cakes, lunches or afternoon teas. Just check to make sure that our seasonal Tea Room is open if you intend to use that too.
The huge en-suite is equipped with a walk in shower, two wash basins (one at a lower height) and WC. Just to make you feel that little bit special we provide premium toiletries for you to use whilst you are staying at Double-Gate Farm. Little extras such as shower hats, shoe shines and a mending kit should you have a last minute wardrobe malfunction are there to help you.
This bedroom is spacious and ground floor hence wheelchair accessible and the large en-suite has plenty of turning space.. If you need a shower chair popping in the en-suite we can do this at no extra cost - we have two sorts to choose from.
Going forward from a Covid point of view, most guests still prefer us to not go into their rooms during their stay. To keep prices fair we have kept our nightly room rate the same with no Housekeeping. If you would like your room serviced this is bookable at £10/service.
Views are beautiful and are across open countryside towards the Mendip Hills, home of Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar Gorge. Our seasonal licensed Tea Room serves delicious home-baked goodies and beverages. We also offer our BBQ Hut for private hire in the evenings, which would be a memorable experience for guests staying at Double-Gate Farm.
The farmhouse's ground floor areas are wheelchair accessible, and the Master en-suite is on the first floor. Our Riverside Rooms are all located on the ground floor, extra large, and have a patio facing south over the river, ceiling fans, refrigeration, and super big wet rooms. They are ideal for couples, families, and groups with flexible and spacious options.
We have additional cottage-style en-suite rooms located in Swallow Barn, including cosy doubles and an accessible ground-floor twin. Although Swallow Barn is no longer inspected by Visit England Assessment Services for B&B purposes, our other B&B accommodations remain in the scheme. It is still inspected by the AA for B&B and Self-Catering purposes to ensure that it remains at a high standard.
If you plan to holiday with your dog, kindly call us before booking to confirm the availability of our two dog-friendly rooms. We do not allow pets in rooms that are not designated as pet-friendly.

Good Stay At Double Gate Farm
Enjoyed our 2 night stay at Double Gate Farm. We chose it for its country location, and it didn't disappoint. We shared a cottage with another couple - good friends- and appreciated the spacious dining area and lounge where we could visit, while still having our own bedroom and private bath. The B&B was close to Wells, which was convenient, and not too far from Bath, either. Cooked breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed the location, which was right on the river. Staff was very friendly.

Comfy and convenient
Beds were comfy and firm (no sweaty memory foam :-), plenty of hot water in the bathroom and a great breakfast. Pre and in stay communication was timely and clear.
Only thing I could improve on would be thicker curtains, as they didn't do much to keep out the light. Light sleepers like me may want to bring an eye mask.

It was very very good.
Almost everything but would have preferred curtains with black out linings. In the summer months the sun rises so early, it’s very light in the bedroom so difficult to stay asleep.

Great Place to stay to discover the Somerset levels
A group of six adults very much enjoyed our, greatly delayed, stay with Debbie at Double Gate Farm. Obviously, due to covid, some things were a little strange but Debbie made guys feel as welcome as possible. We used the Farm as a base to visit the Sheppy Inn, Wells and Glastonbury. We had the whole house to ourselves so were able to have a drink at night in our own bubble. My wife and I had the very large disabled bedroom on the ground floor, the whole house was attractive and well appointed.
