what a surprise!

We had to make a last minute change to our schedule and were very fortunate to find this amazing place. The Apartment was unique, clean and welcoming . the pub/restaurant were also great. Thanks for providing a wonderful night's stay.

Enjoyed our stay

The Old Fleece is a beautiful building and wd had the 2 bedroom apartment. It was generally clean, my only comment would be the amount of cobwebs hanging from the ceilings. It is on a busy road so the traffic noise bothered me but not my friend. We ate in the bar and the food was lovely and the bar staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay.

Very good but with a little effort could be excellent

The Apartment itself is great for one or two couples or a family with up to 2 children. Facilities were more than adequate and almost all essentials provided but there were a few items that should be supplied or were missing such as there were ample knifes, spoons and tea spoons but sadly no forks - Why? The bathroom was clean and well set out but no shelf to put shower products so you had to use the floor - Why? But our biggest gripe was the cleanliness. The apartment was clean and tidy but not spotless with 2 pieces of evidence that it was lacking a Professioal cleaners touch. Firstly there were small but noticeable food remnants on surfaces including in the handle grip of the fridge, also there was a noticeable soap/ limescale line at the base lower tile level in the shower and most importantly the Apartment did not smell of any cleaning products - A certain giveaway that cleaning finesse was not applied here. The bar manager was a little too keen on trying to get you to book into the Fleece for meals and to be honest we never once saw the bar more than 65% full so I don’t think getting a table would be an issue but as not even a continental breakfast was available at the fleece this lets it down as the journey to the alternative breakfast was not exactly 6 minutes away especially in traffic more like 20 minutes and not exactly reasonably priced. I would however recommend the local Stroud Brewery for superb beers, ales and food at more reasonable prices One thing to note you are very much left to your own devices which we liked and it enabled us to explore the area.
