The Jollies Bootle
We found it extraordinary how many checks were needed plus a further £100 after already having paid for the room. After checking in with one of the bar staff who was extremely helpful and having to pay a £100 before we could get a key the bar person unlocked the door for us and gave us the code. what we found on entrance were thick black cobwebs as one walked into the building, in the entrance hall, the room booked as a double only had a three-quarter bed and no chair the bare minimum. The Pub was immaculate we would highly recommend it to any one if the rooms had been attached to the pub we would possibly have stayed. We went into the bar which closed early to ask about food. when we tried to get back into the premises this was extremely difficult and had to ask the bar person as she was leaving for help. We decided not to stay and stayed the one night only. We Booked into a hotel in Liverpool near the train station fort less money £45 a night. Bootle the area was extremely run down which we would have managed however the difficulties experienced and the state of the entrance hall size of room etc was not what we expected and were disappointed to say the least we had to wait until the pub opened at 12 noon to get the deposit returned. It is not somewhere I would recommend for people of our age My partner is 75 and I am 72 we are both well-travelled and experienced in life so sharing the bathroom location etc would not have been a problem it was the cleanliness and difficulties experienced. I emailed the agent to inform of our departure. Note. The cobwebs which were dense were cleaned on the day of our departure as I had mentioned it to the bar person. I sent my bank details to the agent in the event of a refund. My card was compromised after booking with your agency. Advertising as the Jollies gives one a sense of it being part of the pub which is an assumption that gives one a feeling of ease however the reality is far different. No, I cannot recommend.
