The layout of this home worked well for the 4 of us for an amazing Auburn football game. Location is convenient and in a quiet neighborhood. The house is cute with lots of charming details.
We needed a place to stay for Auburn's graduation weekend and found this lovely home. It was perfect for our weekend of celebration. Everything was as described and we enjoyed the wonderful backyard and welcome gift for our Graduate!
Laurie’s home is super cute and has everything we needed for our stay! Good lighting in the bathrooms for getting ready, nice little den to watch tv, and very inviting backyard and closed in back porch! Highly recommend!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Guesthouse. The hosts were so kind and helpful. There was plenty of room for us (two couples) and the outdoor screened porch and outdoor patio were fabulous. The location is not too far from campus and just a couple blocks away from beautiful downtown Opelika. Our only suggestion would be for there to be a door on the bedroom half bath (or at least a folding panel screen) for privacy.
Property was clean and owner accommodating. Location great and pretty area. The house is 1.5 bath and bathroom needs updating and another full bath. We had a leaky faucet that she fixed quickly. There’s no water pressure in shower which will hopefully get fixed. I’d stay there again with those things fixed
This attractive, clean, and comfortable house was real haven for the extended stay needs of these two seniors. The entire place has obviously been designed to make guests very comfortable with many small touches in every room. The space is nicely divided with a den plus living room as well as three very comfortable bedrooms. The kitchen is just right for meal preparation and eating space, and contains very nice appliances and plenty of supplies. The back yard is a haven of tall trees, two patio areas, and lovely pots of flowers. The home is a 5-minute drive to charming downtown Opelika and 10 minutes to downtown Auburn. Highway 85 is 5-10 minutes away for anyone needing a rest stop while traveling from the coast northward. The best part though, is experiencing the highest level of southern hospitality from the owners who live next door. They are very responsive with any questions or concerns, and know the area well. You will leave feeling warmed by their kindness.

Very cute!
The people who own the house are super nice accommodating and live next door! The house is pretty close to campus but be careful because the ubers will gouge you. I live in a college town full time and have never experienced a surge on game day like I did while I was in Auburn. The only down fall of this is it was 1 and 1/2 bath and the 1/2 bath doesn’t have a door (it’s inside the bedroom). Not a super issue except in certain situations if you know what I mean. Overall good stay.

We were there to celebrate one of our grandsons birthday
Our stay at the Guesthouse could not have been any better. For the time we arrived until we left things could not have been any better. The house was very clean and the owners, the Tate's, wanted to make sure that we had everything we needed. They made our stay a pleasure. This was the second stay for part of the family and it will be the house that we choose when we are back down there. Location is perfect.

Nice home overall. Good location for families attending events at Auburn University.
Home was very nice. Stocked well with towels and wash clothes. Two areas inside to relax and watch TV. Owner was very nice provided a nice surprise of snacks, coffee and breakfast items. (Could of used some sugar for coffee to make some of our party happier lol). Great location to Auburn University. One issue we had Bed attached to half bath squeaks with any movement did not sleep well as a result. Owner may want to look into this issue. Very thankful to have found this home for our stay during son's spring graduation.

Stayed here for our recent visit back to Auburn with our family
Absolutely wonderful and, quaint home close to campus - wonderful time! Owner Laurie left us in good hands with our home away from home. Home was very clean and, well kept and, kitchen had all the essentials to chill out after a long day. A gorgeous view with lots of bird feeders and, a small deck beg you to the back yard to get that down time you've been looking for. Gorgeous neighborhood that encourages long walks with the dog with a lake that will take your breathe away. Not even 5 minutes from downtown Opelika where you will surprise yourself with great shopping and dining options. Do not miss the Irish Bred Pub where you will be surprised by the food and craft beer selection - really yummy. House is convenient also to I-85 and other major roads with grocery less than 5 mtes away. Bedrooms are smallish and, there is only 1 shower so, if your a larger party be patient. I was surprised to see the house had a PS4 with games for the kids as well washer dryer combo. Safe and quiet. Toomer's Corner 15 mtes away - do not miss the Lemonade at Toomer's Drugs or, visiting Auburn's equestrian program - one of the best in the country. We also hit up Pope's Haunted Farm which we've done in the past over in Salem (20 mtes drive) and, always have a blast. Super family friendly and, laid back area in general away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Staying at this house will help you relax and, reconnect with loved ones - highly suggest it if you're feeling a little burnt out lately. Cheers!

Charming home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay after the AU football game. The home is in great condition and very nicely decorated - just lovely. We felt very much at home as if we were staying with friends rather than renting a house. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!

Immaculate
Myself and 2 teenage daughters stayed during Auburn Family Weekend. The location was about 15 minutes from campus on a quiet residential street. The owners were friendly and helpful. The house was adorably decorated with antiques and comfy couches. The refrigerator was thoughtfully stocked with breakfast items and drinks. The area is quiet, peaceful and restful. Opelika had several good restaurant choices. I have already recommended this place to other parents when they visit Auburn U.

About the host
Hosted by Laurie Tate
I grew up in Opelika, we both graduated from Auburn University and after moving around the south and mid-west for 27 years we decided to settle back in my hometown. You will find the area very friendly with a slow pace, yet many activities to choose from. If you like college sports, you have found the right place...WAR EAGLE! If you love golfing, look no further, we have some of the most fabulous courses around and are home to one of The Robert Trent Jones golf course. Love to antique? Enjoy riding on backroads and finding many hidden treasures. Come enjoy your stay and quickly find out why Opelika has been voted as one of the best places to retire! Welcome!
Why they chose this property
We bought the home I grew up in and love the wooded feel of the lot and the older homes. The house next door to us became available and we bought it to use and share as a guest house to those wanting to enjoy the area of Opelika and Auburn.
What makes this property unique
You will love the larger, wooded lots and the charm of the older homes. The location is perfect for Auburn game days and any other activities you wish in this historic railroad town. Close to Opelika Sportsplex (Pickleball courts), RTJ golf course, Auburn University and many more! It's the perfect location.
