A true hidden gem, Hogwood Cottage is a pretty cottage steeped in history with its own private courtyard.. 1 step to entrance.

Inscribed on the corner of a windowpane is the name Elizabeth Hogwood aged 19, 1907 and so only fitting to name the cottage in her honour. It is built of stone which undoubtedly was looted from the castle. It has a fantastic combination of traditional features dating back to the 1700s with a modern rustic twist. Enter through the main door from the Market Place into the foyer shared with guests staying in Market Place View, and seating to relax in where you can plan exciting days out from the array of local information provided. Access to the cottage is through the door with signage Hogwood Cottage: two steps down and there is the exterior door to a private courtyard and cottage tucked away. Wi-Fi signal is weaker in the cottage.
Hogwood Cottage is a brilliant base to explore this historic market town right from your very doorstep. Potter around the array of local independent shops, grab a coffee at one of the marketplace cafés and be amazed by the ruins of the medieval Knaresborough Castle. Take a stroll along the riverside promenade or hire a boat and enjoy the stunning scenery and local wildlife from the water. Bebra Gardens is a wonderful spot to sit out, not to mention the castle grounds and the fabulous views of the viaduct which are featured in the film ‘A Very Yorkshire Christmas’. For those keen on walking there are many local walks nearby. Visit Old Mother Shipton’s cave or meander along the Nidd Gorge. The long winding roads over the local moors offer some spectacular cycling.
The central location of this wonderful holiday cottage means you don’t even need to get in a car to sample the delights of the local area. Knaresborough train station can be reached within a 5-minute walk, with trains taking you to Harrogate in less than 10 minutes and York within half an hour. The elegant spa town of Harrogate is a brilliant day out with its Royal Pump Museum, restored Turkish baths, and of course, the famous Betty’s tea rooms offering the best afternoon tea for miles. The walled city of York with its cobbled streets is a fabulous day out, with its numerous theatres, galleries and museums, there is something to excite everyone. Or simply grab a drink at one of the many local bars before heading for a delicious meal out.
Slightly further afield, the North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales National Park and coastal resorts of Whitby and Scarborough can all easily be reached by train or car. This property can be booked together with Market Place View (UK35011) to accommodate up to 6 guests.
