We have had such a lovely stay and can thoroughly recommend Maxwell Cottage - it is a real home from home, well equipped and well situated so close to quiet safe beaches.
The hosts, Guy and Tracy went over and above expectations by helping us with taxis and recommendations of places to eat and visit. They couldn’t do enough for us!
The apt is brand new and very clean. it served as a great and central location to explore the different beaches on the South coast. the neighborhood was very nice, and we had some great conversations with neighbors walking past. There is plenty of storage with multiple dressers. The addition of a small bistro table indoors would be helpful.
Overall I did enjoy my stay here, I have never stayed at an apartment with the owners on the premises. However both Guy and Tracey were friendly but it did take some getting used to. There was a little misunderstanding about the air conditioning being left on however that was quickly resolved. Besides that this is a lovely property to stay at.
My spouse and I rented this spot so that we would have a private place away from a busy wedding group. The accommodations were perfect and the grounds were gorgeous! We were a 4 min walk to the beach and 10 mins from the resort with the wedding. We walked it every day which gave us a chance to feel out the neighborhood and stop for supplies when needed. One night I walked down to the fish fry and that was reasonable as well. It was so nice to have an air conditioned room when we needed it. The two bathrooms were ideal and the kitchen had just enough to keep us happy. The water filter was a life saver.
As is the case with most rentals, I felt like there weren't enough hooks or side tables... but that is a very minor problem.
Check in was so simple and Guy put us in touch with the property manager Carol right away. She was so nice, just like everyone in Barbados.
I loved looking for lizards on the patio and walking the gardens. Seriously this is the nicest yard on the block.
I cannot wait to go back someday.
The owners and caretakers were excellent with communication. The caretakers checked in with us to see if things were alright. They weren’t overbearing, just enough to make us feel comfortable about reaching out to them if we needed to.
It was three of us. Having 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms with showers was wonderful. The woman who had the middle bedroom said that her bed was uncomfortable and squeaked non-stop.
The house was clean and well maintained. If you're a coffee drinker, it's a regular coffee maker, NOT a K-Cup maker. It works well. Ice was in the freezer.
When looking at the place, we saw pictures of monkeys. We were a little nervous but assured they would not bother anyone. As I sat in the backyard drinking my morning coffee, the mom, dad and 3 children showed up in the next yard (mango trees). The rest of the week, we saw them in a neighboring yard further away.
It's conveniently located to so much. We used a cab service to get around.
Would we stay again, ABSOLUTELY!
Nicely renovated, everything we needed. Quiet neighbourhood and easy walk into Oistins. Quick check-in and check-out process. We had a car for getting around but there are constant mini-buses and taxies on the main road going into Oistins.
Overall our stay was throughly enjoyed ! It is a prime location as it is in walking distance to the beach and Oistins ! They was more to be desired from our living quarters and a few misleading details.
If you are over 6 feet tall this will NOT be the place for you as only the bottom portion of the dwelling is actually the rental. The ceilings are incredibly low. There was not dining room table which was slightly odd, but a large outdoor table that lacked any refuge from the hot Barbados sun.
The home smelt of moisture upon arrival from the lack of air circulation prior to our arrival.
Overall was a clean and convenient stay.
