Short stay in the valley

It is exactly how Alan the host describes it when you view the property online. The property is set overlooking a fantastic valley with views going on for miles and a private forest garden to enjoy as well. You wake to the noise of sheep and birds - pure relaxation- with no noise or light pollution.

Great little place.

Great little place in an amazing setting, Alan was very nice. Exactly like the pictures no complaints. We stayed 3 nights and loved the walks around the area. The stars are amazing and we did see some unexplainable strange lights whizzing above the valley.

Quiet rustic getaway with breathtaking views

Alan is a lovely friendly man, his description of the cottage is perfectly written, our only complaint (discussed with Alan) was bed needs to be moved to take advantage of that amazing view.. And possibly remove some furniture.. Lol. But ideal location for some amazing places to visit.. Definitely the red kite feeding station. Wildlife and breathtaking scenery in every direction. We were out from 9am till 6pm over our time there.. Ideal retreat for walkers and lovers of wildlife

A lovely review but sad to lose a star because of the bed position.. To look directly out of the window in the morning at the rising sun and amazing view, all you have to do is sit up "sideways" across the bed, propped up with pillows against the wall! I've considered it, but rotating the bed so that feet face the window is just not possible.

Woodlands review from Amanda

Alan's place, Woodlands, is in a stunning location with some amazing scenery on the doorstep and the kind of peace that you don't find very easily. In the 6 days we were there, we didn't go further than 5 miles and explored local woods, hills, valleys and rivers. It's perfect if you want to get closer to nature and slow down. You can hear birds and distant sheep and that's about it. The nearest town, Llanidloes, is very pretty and worth several visits. You can pick up all we need there. There's also a good choice of places to eat and drink, independent shops including a lovely bookshop and a market. The accommodation is compact but very comfortable and warm. It's very clean and welcoming with lots of useful information on the facilities, heating, kitchen equipment etc. Everything has been thought through and there are masses of resources for walks, trips, places to eat, visit etc. Alan is very friendly and helpful - and has a lot of knowledge about this part of Wales. We wish we had more time there!

Welsh hideaway!

It was pretty well as expected as there was a thorough description and Q & A at the booking stage. There were lovely views from the window to distant hills but the woodland pools were rather disappointing, looking a bit tired. Very peaceful location and a 10min drive to the local town.

I do explain before booking is confirmed that the flow through the pools and the waterfalls can reduce, even to a trickle, after a longish dry spell in Summer.

Very pleasant stay

We felt the place is ideally located, secluded enough but not too far from the main town. The view from the bedroom window is absolutely beautiful. The owner contacted us right away after the booking explaining the pros and cons of the property in a very detailed manner including offer to fully refund at this stage if we changed our mind. The woodlands attached to the property gives a very natural woodlands feel, there are plenty of sitting bench around to sit and read/spend time in nature should you feel not going out. We had a pleasant stay

Brilliant stay

If you are after a quiet peaceful break to get away from everything, then this is perfect. We had a fantastic time exploring the woodlands and the local area, there are some lovely walks and a river at the end of the lane. If you like bird watching there is a good variety of birds and we often saw buzzards and red kite from the bedroom window. The accommodation was great, had everything we could possibly need, a really comfy bed, nice bathroom and the kitchen/sitting room area was brilliant for preparing meals. Alan our host was lovely and was very knowledgeable about the area. We will definitely be staying again. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

peaceful location close to nature

The detailed explanations of the facilities and limitations made the decision to choose the property easy. There were no hidden surprises, and we got what we expected. Alan was very welcoming, and we had no difficulties to settle in to the accommodation. The view from the property is breathtaking, and you can enjoy nature at its best, whatever the weather is. There was a list with routes of places that you could visit if you wish, which we found very helpful. Overall, we had a lovely time during our stay in woodland waterfalls. Will definitely visit again.

Quiet with lovely views.

Well of the beaten track, thanks for details from the owner we found it, there are many places to visit not too far away. There are walks around the 2 acres & on the hills & in the valley. As the owner points out he does not go in for immaculate looking garden. The rooms are comfortable with views through large, clean windows!

A lovely short getaway. Immersed by nature.

Hidden away on the hillside you will find Alan’s home. It’s very quaint location. Alan communicated with us from the moment we booked our stay. He also provided us with locations to visit on our stay. Highly recommended for nature lovers.
