About this property

The Granary, Dunstall Green

Tucked away in the peaceful hamlet of Dunstall Green, The Granary is a charming detached brick and flint cart lodge inspired by 17th century design and surrounded by rolling Suffolk countryside. Beautifully styled and thoughtfully arranged, this inviting retreat combines character features with modern comfort to create a truly relaxing escape.

Set within the grounds of Saint Francis Cottage, the property is arranged over two floors with a light filled open plan living space on the ground floor. French doors open onto a private patio overlooking the pond and established gardens, offering a lovely spot to unwind while guests are also welcome to explore the wider grounds. The well equipped kitchen features a traditional two oven Aga during the cooler months, complemented by underfloor heating for year round comfort, while the cosy sitting area and generous dining table make it perfect for relaxed evenings or hosting friends for supper.

Upstairs, The Granary sleeps up to three guests across two beautifully presented bedrooms. The main bedroom features a king size bed, vaulted ceiling and its own private balcony with idyllic countryside views, ideal for morning coffee or sunset drinks. The second bedroom offers a comfortable single bed, and the family bathroom includes a soothing jet bathtub for a relaxing soak after a day out.

With parking for up to two cars and open countryside on the doorstep, yet less than twenty minutes from both Newmarket and Bury St. Edmunds, The Granary is perfectly suited to couples or small families seeking a peaceful Suffolk escape.

A real bijou in the countryside

The Granary is exquisite, stylish and so comfortable. The hosts are lovely. The cottage has everything we needed and close to lovely sites and country walks. We loved spending time there and decided to stay in every night despite the many gastro pubs around simply because it felt like home. Highly recommend.

A wonderful cottage

The cottage was beautiful. We thought the pictures looked too good to be true but if anything the cottage was even better. The hosts were very helpful and left us some great treats. The cottage was located well for trips out to newmarket, Cambridge and Burty St Edmunds. Also good for local walks. The garden was beautiful and we were treated to a moorhen and her two chicks on the pond. Only negative was internet access. We had a little on the first evening and last day but nothing inbetween. Not a big issue .. good to learn to live without it.

A wonderful place to stay

We loved the Granary and our mid week break there. The house was of the highest quality inside, with an inspirational interior and lovely views from the Granary over the fields. The owner is extremely thoughtful and provided a lovely home made cake, flowers and provisions when we arrived. I would really recommend for a relaxing break in lovely surroundings.
