About this property

Lovely cottage in quiet country hamlet near the Vallee des Saints heritage site

Set in the heart of the beautiful Breton countryside. our 200-year-old stone built, traditional longere offers a comfortable, well-equipped home for a peaceful getaway, as well as an excellent location for exploring the wonderful villages and towns, coasts, hills and countryside of Brittany; - and one of the newest and unique visitor attractions in Brittany, - the Valley of the Saints, with its 176 4-6m high granite statues of Breton saints, is less than 10 minutes away.

The ground floor has a lovely large wood-beamed living room with a Breton fireplace and dining area with patio doors which open out onto the secluded garden. The lounge has a TV with French channels and English freeview box, wifi, a comfortable sofa and leather armchairs, a small library with a sunny reading niche, a games cupboard and CD player. The well equipped kitchen has a cooker, refrigerator, washing machine and microwave and the toilet and bathroom are also on the ground floor

The open staircase leads to two generous sized bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. A further large bedroom is accessed through the double bedroom and has two single beds. It also has a second television with DVD and French channels. All the bedrooms have lovely views across the fields to the nearby Foret de Freau. Bed linen and house towels are provided for all guests and there are thermostatically-controlled electrical convector heaters throughout the house


The patio, sunny garden and South facing frontage of the cottage provide wonderful opportunities for alfresco dining or simply sitting in the sun with wineglass in hand and enjoying the view. The garden and field lane beside it are safe for children.. Garden furniture, a sunlounger a large hammock and a small barbeque are provided, as arefolding chairs you can take to the beach if you need them.

The Gite is suitable for up to four people, or five if you have children, but is also ideal for a romantic getaway for two.

Peaceful, rural family holiday

The Gite is located in a very quiet hamlet with amazing views over fields of sweetcorn. There is no light or noise pollution at all! A perfect spot to get away from it all. Well equipped gite offering a quiet stay. Bedding provided, lots of local information in the drawer. Some great day visits to the north coast with amazing villages along the way. The barn also has some childrens outside play equip, but we didn't use these.

Charmant séjour !

Nous avons beaucoup aimé ce Penty, plein de charme, avec cette touche anglaise. Penty très fonctionnel avec tout ce qu'il faut pour passer de bons moments très cocooning, bien situé dans les monts d'Arrée, à voir à 4 km la vallée des saints, mais aussi saint Michel de Braspart à voir absolument et Hulegoat bien sûr et tant d'autre.

Charmante maison dans la campagne bretonne

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour dans cette charmante maison. Les environs sont très calmes et reposants, avec de jolis paysages de campagne. La maison n'était pas parfaitement propre mais contenait toutes les commodités nécessaires. Des CDs, jeux de société, cassettes et livres sont à disposition des visiteurs, ce qui est appréciable.

Eine enttäuschende Unterkunft

Als wir ankamen und das Haus von außen sagen, waren wir sehr begeistert. Das änderte sich sehr schnell, als wir das Haus von innen sahen. Es war sehr dreckig. Alles hat geklebt und war sehr schmuddelig. Die Böden, die Tische, die Sitzgelegenheiten, das Geschirr, das Besteck, alles war unbenutzbar. Die Betten sind durchgelegen, alles im Haus ist feucht und klamm und es wimmelt von Schnecken im Haus. Leider kam uns der Vermieter auf Anfrage nicht entgegen und hatte keinerlei Verständnis für unsere Beschwerde. Wir haben vorzeitig abgebrochen, da wir uns so unwohl gefühlt haben und eine andere Unterkunft gesucht.

Déception

Nous sommes arrivés à 16h comme prévu et n'avions pas d'instructions d'arrivée. Nous avions 2 numéros à joindre pour lesquels nous avions un message " pas d'abonnement pour votre contact". Nous réussissons à joindre le propriétaire en Angleterre qui nous indique où se trouve la clé. Nous entrons et nous prenons de nombreuses toiles d'araignées. Nous commençons par faire du ménage car les placards où se trouvent la vaisselle sont également remplis de toiles. Nous constatons une fuite d'eau dans la cuisine où se trouve une bassine debordante. Le propriétaire nous facture un supplément pour avoir dépanné 2 proches qui ont eu un imprévu. Nous n'avons pas tenté de dissimuler leur présence. Nous espérions un meilleur contact et plus de compréhension.

We purchased this lovely property in 2008 after we first saw it and fell in love with it. As retired teachers we want to share the house with others and let them get to know the wonderful countryside and coasts of Brittany

Why they chose this property

We are in the countryside but not isolated, have a lovely outlook across to fields and woodlands; at night the skies are dark, free of light pollution. Just down the road is the village of Carnoet, and not far away from the towns of Callac and Carhaix with excellent hypermarkets and restaurants. There is a great choice of sandy beaches in lovely settings on the north coast, an attractive drive along quiet roads to the area around Locquirec, and further afield the beaches of the west coast, one of which is a ten mile stretch of sand, and the south coast near Concarneau are about an hour's drive.

What makes this property unique

Comfort, peace, relaxation - a home from home in wonderful countryside close to one of the most remarkable tourist locations in France, the Valley of the Saints, which last year had over 400,000 visitors, yet remains an idyllic atmospheric hilltop with over 100 giant granite statues in Eurpoe's answer to Easter Island, and views far into the distance in every direction. Our visitors love the level of equipment and forethought in catering for their needs, from the fully equipped kitchen to the hairdryer, games for children and adults, garden hammock, barbecue, sun umbrella, and French and English television services.
