Family trip
We stayed at this property as a family. My two daughters, my son and myself. The house is beautiful and has the potential to be a lovely place. Unfortunately we experienced some problems. On checking in we struggled to open the front door as it was very warped and swollen with damp. After a struggle we managed to open it. Unfortunately after it was closed it could only be opened from the outside, this was a real concern as a fire risk as it was the only exit from the ground floor. The whole place was very dusty and really needed to a good clean. We decided to overlook this and make the most of the break. My son was disappointed to find that the advertised PlayStation wasn't there. My main problem was having finally got into the mezzanine bed only to find the sheets had not been changed between guests and flakes of skin and hair were clearly visible. Luckily i was able to wash the sheets but given the massive lack of cleanliness we decided to leave early.

Homely charming getaway
This was a very comfortable and warm stay for us, over the Christmas holiday. The house is spacious, with quite fun sleeping arrangements, including a loft mezzanine, and inbuilt bunks for the kids. The photos are very accurate to how we found it, and we particularly loved the spectacular living room and traditional dining room, for family time together. The kitchen was equipped with all that we needed, it is on the older side, but like with the rest of the house we appreciated the charm of it! We couldn't fit our estate car into the roadside parking space left by the neighbours, but it really was only a 1-2 minute walk down steps to the village car park. We loaded and unloaded by parking outside a neighbouring house. Delicious welcome supplies as mentioned by others. Thanks Georgina!

Home from home
The house was lovely, spacious living rooms and bedrooms, with a really homely atmosphere. Kitchen was small but perfectly-formed had everything we needed (there's no dishwasher). Back gate opened straight onto a beautiful hilly walk which the dog loved. Peaceful location with amenities about a 15 min drive away. There's a community shop in the village, a 3 minute walk away which stocked most items. Suited me, my 12 and 24 year olds and our border collie perfectly.

Lovely stay in the Valleys
From the start the stay was very stress free. Arriving at the property was easy, directions were clear and we had been sent details well in advance of where to get the key. The host had also sent us a link to a Facebook page detailing places nearby that we may like to visit. Unfortunately didn't get to Gin and Juice which I would have loved to try so maybe next time! The house itself was so cozy and quirky. There were toys and books for the children, plenty of books around for adults too. There was a welcome basket on arrival full of lovely goodies which was a lovely touch. The house was clean and well equipped with everything you might need. The only thing I could think of that would have made things a little easier was either an outside washing line or a second airer for drying clothes. Despite taking enough clean clothing for our stay the hubby insisted on keeping up with the laundry! The property was clean and spacious and very homely. The bunk beds in the children's room were fun at first sight but it was a little difficult to access the top bunk with the climbing bolt ons. Probably better for children 10+. I was a bit concerned at about the lack of safety bar on the top bunk but this wasn't an issue. The host responded to all queries very quickly and was very helpful and pleasant to deal with throughout. Overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely return. Would highly recommend .

Weekend Getaway
We enjoyed our long weekend here. Centrally located to what we wanted to see and do. There is street parking, but parking at the city parking was easier for us and an easy hike to the house. Note that the roads are steep. All my kids enjoyed our time here.

Our Mum passed away in 2019 and it was her wish that her lovely Afan Valley home, that holds so many memories for us, be kept and shared between our three families. In order to do that, we decided to share it with you too. We hope you enjoy this creative relaxing home as much as we do. Welcome!

Why they chose this property

This unique terraced miner's cottage still gives a glimps of mining valley life of the 1900s. Imagine carrying the buckets of coal down those steep back stairs from the garden!
Over the years, our Mum made changes to express her creativity, but ensured she preserved the character of the property. We love it!
The valley is quite unspoilt and the walks and mountain bike trails are just beautiful, as are the destinations with in driving distance. Whether you just want to relax, hike, bike or just discover this beautiful part of Wales, we hope you enjoy our Creative Afan Valley Home.

What makes this property unique

Small terraced garden with lovely sunset views over the valley.
Welcome hamper.
There will be locally sourced milk and butter in the fridge upon your arrival.
Dogs welcome - dog bowls and towels provided.
