Known as the heart and soul of Wales, The Valleys of South Wales are a must-see destination, with the Afan Forest Park set in the very heart. A region of breathtaking natural beauty, Afan Forest Park is set amongst densely wooded forests and glorious countryside offering picture perfect views.

Untouched by urbanisation, this peaceful region of Wales is made up of a string of small villages, creating the perfect setting for a holiday escape. Designated a Forest Park in 1972 thanks to its lush landscape and stunning setting, this picture perfect region of South Wales is now a magnet for tourists who flock to visit the many walk and bike routes that scatter the vibrant green valley. Of course traversing around on two wheels is not the only way to discover the area and there are a variety of other outdoor pursuits to enjoy including nature rambles and hikes, horse riding, kayaking, caving, climbing, gorge walking and fishing.

1 Night Stay
We stayed one evening at the home, my daughter, husband and I. The house was not in a great shape from the outside. Large amounts of chipping paint and nesting birds causing a badly muck stained window (nothing like in the advertising picture). Once inside, the house is in better shape and overall cleanliness inside was good, there is some nice decor too. However, outside the patio chairs and tables are in need of cleaning or changing and there were two large bags of rubbish. I did complain about the issues to management and they apologised for the paint stating they had a problem with the mortar, they also suggested the rubbish was recycling that is only moved once a week. But smelling other peoples rubbish in open over flowing bags is not acceptable. There is a more hygienic way to recycle waste. We couldn’t use the outside area at all. And with all the rain we had the bags were leaking. As for the area, the house is on an estate, with no dining close by, the next major town has food places to choose from. There is a great bike path just across the road that runs along a beautiful river. For those wanting a base for cycling I can see this place being a good idea. I just wish it had been given a more detailed look over as regards to rubbish before we arrived. Maybe if we had stayed longer the problem could have been sorted.

Gorgeous area
Sarah’s house was clean, comfortable and had everything needed for a relaxing break. It also had the most amazing views. Such a great base for all we wanted to do. Spent days walking in the valley and exploring all the amazing beaches.

Windy wet wonderful Wales
Great location for cycling, walking, and listening to running water. Explore the nearby valley or head to the beach, but make sure the fridge is full as not much around for evening entertainment.
