DOLLARBEG CASTLE is close to the village of Dollar, 1 of the 4 foothill villages of the Ochil Hills (great for hiking).
In the village you will find shops, a well presented pub, one of the best restaurants in the area, a lovely cafe and it's own museum! Castle Campbell is only 3 miles away with its wonderful scenery as you walk through Dollar Glen and see fantastic views of Dollar below. Nearby is a Japanese Garden, ‘Do It Outdoors’ and ‘Lendrick Muir Outdoor Activity Centre’ (with loads of fun activities).
Kinross is 12 miles away, where Mary Queen of Scots famously escaped from her prison at Lochleven Castle on 2 May 1568. Alloa Tower is 8 miles away and is one of the earliest and largest Scottish Tower Houses (run by National Trust for Scotland).
The historic city of Stirling is only 12 miles away, with it’s famous Castle, old prison and Wallace Monument to visit. If you enjoy castles then why not have a day trip to Blair Castle in Blair Atholl, Scone Castle in Perth (once the crowning palace of Scottish Kings), or Glamis Castle in Angus, the childhood home of the Queen Mother.
Alva Glen and Gartmorn Dam Country Park are in close proximity and are great for walking. Loch Lomond is about an hour, with its visitor and sealife centre. There are also shops and cafes and boat trips.
For motorsport enthusiasts the famous Knockhill Motorsport Centre is only 8 miles away, either for watching races or testing out your driving skills in classic/racing/rally cars.
For golfers, visitors are welcome at the local traditional hillside Dollar Golf Club. There are also over 30 golf courses within an hour’s drive including St Andrews and Gleneagles (where there are many other activities such as shooting, falconry, horse riding).
There is also a Tank Drive Challenge Centre and a Dry Ski Slope centre, both within a few miles of the property.
For retail therapy there is Glasgow and Edinburgh, but closer to Dollar is Tillicoultry, home of Sterling Mills outlet village.
